  1. Seriously Salem at 96% in grand final should tell you something 🤦🏻‍♂️
  2. Demons were very poor, bottom 10 stats we had 9! I don’t like being negative about any Demons . Player but Jordan is very slow with the ball I would put in Rivets or Hunt ahead of him
  3. Should we lose tonight and I’m expecting to win! Unless Maggots give 40-5 frees, I think our 500 strong supporters should walk out singing, we had a virus, we had the flu, we had diarrhoea that’s why we lost, to show we can be good losers like coach Scott!!!
  4. Lots of commentators are still anti Demons, see last year as a one off. Not sure why, some obviously just don’t like Melbourne - Dermott & Ross Lyon at top of list. Imagine another reason is outright stating Demons are best doesn’t generate much excitement about what is to come. Anyway just get to top 4, with few injuries and a little luck and we will be very hard to beat, as our best is still the best!! Tonight not that big a deal, a win would be great, as who can like the umpires pets from Geelong!!
  5. BBB definitely executes his role in team. If he gets a free every 2nd week (and he should number of times he gets blocked or arms punched vs golden elbows treatment of Hawkins) and takes one extra mark every 2nd week, should add to nearly an extra goal per week and everyone will be quiet about BBB! Last week he kicks that snap means 3 goals for game and everyone happy. He isn’t too far off solid form, hopefully it is training loads as he came home strong last year when he came back into the team.
  6. Picked out four of the worst and we didn’t get any 50/50 freed. Unfortunately when you play interstate and the crowd is 95-5% or at Geelong, the home team will get the rub of the green 90% of games. This is frustrating but seems to happen whatever the sport - part of home ground advantage. what is annoying is the Dogs who seem to get preferential treatment, they are a high possession team so possibly related. On the other end of the scale is the Tigers and I think that is explained as they are the dirtiest team in the league.
  7. Impressive to keepCrows to only 10-5 with their ruck dominance and 2/3 goals from umpiring. Demons all ground defence is terrific. Great to see Langdon up and running again and Trac also back to his best with a few goals. Very good win all things considered. Maxy back in side for Cats is terrific.
  8. So we are playing all the teams below us on the ladder! God help them!!
  9. Frees 12-6 walker has a neck but Demons players don’t crows at least 2 goals from frees
  10. Umpiring beyond disgraceful
  11. Losing this match last year, should ensure that the Demons are up and about. A win would put us two games and 20% above fifth with only 7 games to go! Go Demons!
  12. Good question I have wondered the same. I think Laurie Fowler won 2 or 3 B& Fs and while a pretty good reliable player, was not remotely in Flowers league. It seemed unless Flower played a brilliant game his normal games that were still way better than others weren’t recognised, is my only theory! He was brilliant, the only reason you would go watch the Demons for about a five year stretch! It used to drive me crazy Keith Gregg winning multiple Brownlow and flags compared to Robbie’s one finals series. Flower also played some unbelievable interstate football where he showed just how brilliant he was surrounded by decent players.
  13. I’m sure a Tassie team could spend just as much on Blundstone or UTAS and have a similar magnificent stadium, vs being told to spend $750M! Just a furphy from the AFL to take eyes of the main question. Team or no team in Tassie?
  14. When are GWS building their new stadium?
  15. Corn doesn’t like any deal over 4 years in length, he has said this too many times, no matter the player! Risks of long deals: - player gets bad injury - player loses form - player loses interest or motivation - pay too much, that you have to wear for a lot of years Benefits: - lock in great player to your club (Clarrie, Trac, Salem, Viney) - shows great commitment from player & club, that will positively impact other players - pay slightly unders initially and over the term. Example if Oliver is $7m for 7 years - Yr1 800 - Yr 2 850 - yr 3 900 - yr 4 1m - yr 5 1.1 - yr 6 1.15M - yr 7 1.2m vs 3 yr deal paying $1.1 or $1.2M per year Long term deal frees up $3-400k per annum over those first three years that helps keep Brayshaw & Jackson Basically long term deals are good for club and player unless you are desperate to entice players from other clubs e.g. Polec - North, or club gets bent over Grundy - Pies, or club just gets it wrong. Demons long term deals have all been sound: - Trac gun player, best 5 in league - Clarry best player in league as judged by coaches votes last year and every chance to do it again - Salem underated by other club supporters, but GF just highlighted how good he is the above 3 great mates that commitments positively influenced by one another - Viney stayed for unders due to 5 year term Congrats to Demons list management and fully expecting Brayshaw & Jackson to sign.
  16. I feel like Max Smart on Get Smart when he gets told he’s a field agent, shouting under the cone of silence: “I’M SO HAPPY”
  17. Sensational news, just a fantastic player! Demons committing to longer deals for players, so certainty for both parties, players accept a little less that will help keep another decent player at the club.
  18. I would go no change this week. Then Max in Weid out. The other change that I would consider in the forward line is one of: - Petty tried forward Tomlinson back - Van R forward (I think part of putting him in ruck might be helping him be ready for bash and crash of being forward in AFL team) - Tomlinson forward - Hunt forward The other aspect of the team that’s interesting is with Rivers and Hunt both not in the team, if either make it back into the backline. Hibberd was terrific on Cameron the other night and his proven ability to play on guys like Dusty and Dangerfield is a major benefit, if he maintains current form.
  19. Was captain for a number of years at Crows so can’t be all bad. You would have to check with players on what he is really like!! Idvtake him ahead of Gunston. Getting him for 2 years wouldn’t hurt from a forward line perspective.
  20. I would be delighted to play the Pies in any match during the finals! Home & away a different scenario!
  21. Someone else paying his salary. No thanks!
  22. They are no guarantee to make the finals!
  23. Agree, Mitch Brown dominates at VFL, yet can’t make the leap to AFL. Just highlights the gap between VFL and AFL that he can’t hold down 3rd tall forward position in AFL. Still having Hunt, Tomlinson, Dunstan and Rivers in the twos provides some depth for our Demons! Even though Rivers has lost form. JVR will be a chance next year after another pre season. I vaguely recall saying something similar about Bowey last year, next week he got called up and the rest is history!
  24. You can lead a horse to water but can’t make it drink! The impact of loading and associated results are obvious to see, if you want too look! There are many other factors: - mid game injuries, particularly as we lost a few defensive talls (mentioned multiple times during Freo, Swans & Pies matches) - injuries in general - across a 22 game season all teams will have natural ups & downs. If we have a down day against another team having an up day, losses will happen - some teams match up well on other teams - Lady Luck, sometimes things go wrong, from bounce of ball, umpiring decisions, goalkicking, mid game injuries - a simple favourite on this site is effort, yes due to length of a 22 game season, so can’t be up every week But when all said & done, Demons and Goodwin know that finals is a different season, we’re been preparing for over a month with loading to be ready to be at our best in September. Injury willing and a little bit of luck, Thursday showed our best is still better than anyone else, so Demons are putting themselves in position for a big crack at going back to back! This is why Max won’t play against Crows! Go Demons, fingers crossed we’re on the way to back to back!!
  25. Caro should be left alone so she can continue sucking lemons! She will never apologise or admit she is wrong about anything! Total waste of time and space!
