  1. He played his role today, which was really good. He led, he chased when he needed, played as the decoy which was good.
  2. OUT: Spencer - When he is on the ground it's like having 17 players Dunn - 53 games of what we saw today Jordy Mcken - Im sorry, just don't see what everyone else does IN: Sylvia - Walk up Newton - We need a forward!!! Even a crap one, at least until Watts/Jurrah can return Bartram - Is no gun, is no star, but at least he'll run all day and not give up OR Martin for obvious ruck reasons
  3. 1. Scully 2. Trengove 11. Vardy 18. Bastinac 34. Grimes 50. No idea PSD 1. Thorp
  4. I want Thorp for one simple reason. He WANTS to play for the MFC. All we ever do is [censored] and moan about all these players who don't come to us, and that nobody respects Melbourne. But this guy has actually said he wants to be picked up by Melbourne in the PSD. For anyone who has seen him play his natural talent is undeniable. Injuries were his problem, see if he can stay fit through to December and pick him up. He WANTS to be here, that is what we have all wanted so many players to say. Watts, Jurrah, Thorp.......
  5. I really want to see Vardy at the Dees. Ive seen him a few times and think he is the best rucking option. If he is available at 18 id be a bit perplexed as to why we wouldn't take him. Then again, recruiters do know more than me. But I believe im right in saying Vardy is definately a top 20 pick, but I don't think he'll last to 18 personally. To good for number 18, to poor for number 11. So we may just miss out. I'll be hoping Vardy falls to 18 on draft night.
  6. Starting to think we won't get him... But that is ok. Our team will be fine. I want him at the Demons but all will be ok.
  7. Melbourne just get someone who matters... even slightly. Year after year no one wants to play for Melbourne. Sucks so much.
  8. Yes the Saints have publicly stated that they do not want draft picks for Ball. Their window is now and they want a qaulity player who can come into their best 25. Saints won't be giving Ball to Collingwood for nothing, why would they help another top 4 team. It must be a win-win trade.
  9. Id say Ball is better than Brock all over... This being said, he won't be let go for nothing and will be at Collingwood. As much as that sucks.
  10. Im not saying your wrong. I rate Jamar highly as well. However I have watched alot of Mumford and there is alot to like. But I agree with most that while Mumford is good and could become very good, im a Jamar fan and I think he is about to have a career best season. I hope he does and I hope it's with the Demons. When it comes to your argument with the "rookie", I suggest 2 things... 1: No personal attacks, makes you look like the one going to school, and 2: No need to bag him purely based on the fact he is new, for all we know he knows more about footy than you, me, and many others. He may know nothing but he may also know alot. We were all rookies once so ease up because I for one welcome some new ideas and posting every once in a while. Sorry to have a go, just one of very few who hates rookie bashing, even if the guy made an honest mistake.
  11. Both contracted on 2 year deals unfortunately.
  12. Exactly. People who think Watts and Jurrah can handle it next year are moronic. They need a big body to help protect them, clear the path for their leads, take an opposing teams top defender but most of all show them what hard work is. Watts and Jurrah are filled to the brim with natural ability, compared to Miller who has got where he is through incredibly hard work at training and in the gym. Those 2 young boys need to see a big, older bloke like Miller working hard and mentoring them. It feels strange to say but Miller at this current point is absolutely vital to our development and therefore is important to our future.
  13. Who says he couldn't still be? Just because we get Dawes doesn't mean we suddenly can't draft a KPF as well. Our future KPF stocks currently consist of Watts and Newton. With thoughts that maybe Martin or possibly Garland could become forward options. Hardly breath taking with the exception of Watts. We could get Dawes who will be 22 next year and is a big kid and could play now as well as draft another KPF such as Talia or Butcher if he slide that far. Id like a few options going forward, more than just Watts and pick 11. Geelong don't have a ton of awesome forwards, none are superstars but Hawkins, Mooney and Lonergan as the back up can get the job done with a strong midfield. No need to bank on just pick 11 to be the KPF we need, there are no guarantees and we need a few options. More than Watts and a possibly decent player in pick 11.
  14. With Dawes at FF, Watts at CHF and Jurrah roaming as the dangerous 3rd tall id be very very very happy to get Dawes. Would rather pick 34 goes to them but I can handle pick 18 cause I rate him pretty highly.
  15. As much as I love Davey, he is awesome and we all love him.... If Freo are involved id definately trade him and pick 18 (or 35) for pick 4 and Peake. Don't really rate Peake that much but im hearing from alot of people that he will definately end up with us. To gain pick 4 would be major. Pick 1 (Scully), Pick 2 (Trengove), Pick 4 (Morabito, Rohan, Butcher), Pick 11 (KPP or best available)
  16. You'd have to have a look at Stokes, talented forward and is still only 24ish I think. Also as much of a gump as he may be, Blake would be our best ruckman and is still only 24ish as well. That being said, maybe just hope someone makes it to the PSD.
  17. Watts (In Melbourne colours) Morton Jurrah Grimes Davey
  18. Ive been reading this thread as it grew. And I must say, some of what I have read has trully showed me just how little alot of my fellow Demons supporters know about footy, and afl footy in particular. Shaun Burgoyne is one of the absolute best players in the league, he is a top 10 talent in the AFL. When completely fit he could make a top 5 list. We have medico's..... they are paid to look at peoples injuries. If the club think he is ok, then he is ok. Melbourne have no star players, Watts and Jurrah aren't there yet and Green/Davey don't get much respect. Burgoyne is blatantly a star and deserves big money. We are a club with plenty of young talent that needs some experienced, strong leaders at the club. Burgoyne is this. We have a fairly large group of aboriginal players, all young except for Davey. I can almost guarantee in my mind that all those young guys idolise in some way, Shaun Burgoyne. We have recently lost Wheels and a player of the respect and quality of Shaun Burgoyne would be incredible. The talk of youth is beyond ridiculous, he is 26!!!!!!!!!!!! What are you all 15???? 26 is not old for a team going forward!!! IM certainly hoping we are a finals side at some point in the next 3 years, Burgoyne will definately be around in our finals tint. If James Mcdonald can get a game at a bottom placed Melbourne then a 29-30 year old Shaun Burgoyne will be one of our best players still when we are pushing finals. He would 100% guaranteed be the player every team we are against tags.... Therefore releasing the pressure on Mclean, Sylvia, Scully, Trengove etc. But especially Davey. Who would not be the player with a number 1 tagger on him. Imagine Davey this year without a heavy tag???? Would be absolutely incredible. I could go on about this for longer but im worried my opinion will not be seen by a fair few on here. It's a shame that people honestly think that any of this is a bad idea. Paying Burgoyne, getting Burgoyne would be massive, I repeat massive for this club.,.... Any questions, just ask.
  19. Sylvia will come back in.... I want to see Rohan Bail, Simon Buckley and Danny Hughes get a run. Especially Hughes. Think he would be quite good in the seniors. If anyone is injured they should be rested.... any niggles at all. Perhaps Bruce and Davey could have a bad stitch!!
  20. I hope we win 6 games this season.... Totally as karma for this pathetic thread. The interview with Bruce was great and made me respect him again. If anyone here actually listened to the interview they would feel the same. Everyone bagging Bruce (a club great who overcame incredible obstacles to play football at the highest level) before his 200th game because why? He is 28 and would like to finish his career winning and not tanking??? Yeah he is so selfish, im sure if you had played at a football club for 199 games and were 28 years old you would think, sure my career is coming to an end, I want to lose! Pack of arm chair hypocrites.... Shock horror!! Footballer wants to win football games!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Ive seen Casey a few times this season, most recently last sunday against Geelong.... Don't know what he was like when sticksmorton was watching him but he is a freak now. No doubt what so ever. Very very very talented player.
  22. I wasn't going to do the walk this year..... But now I am. Can't wait to see number 4 bust through the banner.
