  1. Id be a bit shocked to see Dunn go out, he has done pretty well despite a few mistakes. Unless the coaching staff are thinking the few mistakes are a big issue. Either way it will be interesting come 5pm.
  2. Well in the battle of Bails and Steamin... I am cheering for Bails!! I want to see Jack out there.
  3. Well I guess we will all know by 5pm.... Or hopefully before that if someone gets good mail haha
  4. I agree with this... No matter what happens the pressure will be on. We should beat West Coast, it's most likely going to be a sunny day, and west coast do not have a top line backline. All signs point to a forward having a good day. It is finally time.
  5. 1. Win 2. Jack Watts 3. Jamar to completely destroy NicNat so he doesn't get his usual 1-2 good plays a game.
  6. You'll cop it from me at least.... just from your emergencies, Bennell/Jones/ Watts are all better than Mr. Project.
  7. Was tough at times to tell, as there were times he led up as far as the wing. To me he was other lined up at CHF or at the very least between FF and CHF. He was a bit all over the ground though and still came up to the centreline to assist, once we had the ball he would use his pace to run back into the 50 screaming for the ball, would have had 2 easy uncontested marks if the kicks to him were a bit better. I actually should have mentioned those runs earlier, as I think they were significant, because it really showed how much he will suit our current game plan running back with the flight using our pace. He is definately going to be quicker than the full back. Our game plan is going to suit the Watts/Jurrah tandem perfectly.
  8. He was still running, and his rotations seemed to be normal also. Maybe he still isn't 100% fit, I don't know, maybe he is. But I didn't once think to myself that he looked tired. Which I think is positive. On what I saw he should play next week. HOWEVER, I believe the selection panel will hold off. They asked for consistent performances and goals, that was a great game but he will probably have to put in another good game next week.
  9. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and respect people views games differently............ however, I will fight you to the death over this. Watts was easily top 3 best on ground, a view shared by all around me. Not sure why his goals weren't dominant? One was from a contested mark, one was from a lead that hit him on the chest, one was a freaky mark and play on, one was from a free kick because his opponent scragged him to stop Watts. I guess if you consider them all gimme's then he was lucky. But surely the two direct and great handballs that set up goals were pretty good. Also he missed 2 shots at goal.... would 6 have been dominant? Yes, his team mates did look for him on a lead.... thats what is supposed to happen. It means he was leading to the right spaces more than anyone and making lots of leads. So not sure how he was spectating at all? Im not saying Wayne Carey was out there, but you've sold him short in almost everyway and im truly shocked that this is your opinion. Sounds like you were at last weeks game, or at least in that negative mindset.
  10. This was part of my review in the Casey v Coburg thread. But I figure that this part may be relevant here for people who do not look at the Casey stuff.... Jack Watts - I just want to start this by saying one thing.... That Jack Watts thread is ridiculous and anyone who has bagged him, considered he won't make it, said we should have picked NicNat etc.... I just wanna say STFU. Now, he was really good today, kicked 4 goals and gave off 2. Thats 6 scores he was a major part in. Sadly missed 2 set shots that were pretty difficult, could have been 6 today. He has soooooooooooo much time with the ball. Makes smart decisions and has quick hands. Loved it today, almost everytime he got the ball he did something positive with it. His one handed mark, play on, side step, run 5 metres, side step, snap, goal... was awesome! There was 1 moment when he ran up field to the midfield, the ball was bouncing in the air and he was waiting for it to come down, he looked up, he looked behind him for about 0.2 of a second, picked up the ball and immediately side stepped the player who was about to mow him down. The time and awareness in that situation to know exactly who will hit him was priceless and my fav moment of the day. I am still in love with Jack Watts haha.
  11. Was at the game today and was happy with the effort..... Here is my thoughts on the Melbourne boys. If I miss anyone just ask me. Cale Morton - Was good to see Morton again, and great that he ran out the game. Not much you can really say about his game though. It's Cale, you all know what he does and he did it as usual. He kicked a nice goal and had a hand in another. Either straight in or one week at Casey for fitness. Daniel Bell - As always Belly works hard, he took a really nice mark under pressure, but still to often has poor awareness. Good to see him running out games though and not getting an injury. Just a game. Addam Maric - Despite 1 goal and a few nice pieces of skill, this kid flat out annoys me and it still shocks me why people on here rate him so highly and always want him in every week. Tries to do to much and take everyone on. There was one point where I thought Miller was going to kill him as Maric got mowed down for his 3rd holding the ball call as he tried to kick himself a miracle goal inside of kicking it to Miller 15mtrs away all by himself infront of goal. Brad Miller - Lead very well and used his big body, missed an easy shot on goal which you expect from Miller haha. But you can't ever question his work rate... Will find it tough to take the spot of Hughes with games like that. However I will also say, his protection of Watts is really admirable. Juice Newton - Juice did ok. I guess. Wasn't really sited much as Miller and Watts were definately the more prominent targets. His opponent was an annoying tool who thinks his tough. Tom Mac - Had some really great marks in the defensive 50 and kicked a goal from about 50 which was really good. Plays smart and confident. Just bad luck for him that there are so many defenders currently ahead of him at Melbourne. Joel Mac - Macdonald is just a man. Strong in one on ones and consistent. Didn't dominate the game or anything but worked hard. Seemed more prominent in the 2nd half of the game when he found a bit of space to get some good touches of the footy. Rhys Healey - Didn't see alot of him, but when I did see him it seemed like he did pretty well. He had one passage of play that I gave him a big clap for, was courageous and classy possession. I walked away remembering that moment, was really good. Jordan Gysberts - Gizmo is all class. Had alot of the footy and his skills are top notch. Loved his work and can't wait to see an AFL debut this year. Does not have an AFL body as he lacks size, but he was smart and much like Morton seems to have alot of the time with the ball. Jake Spencer - Strong game in the ruck. Beat his opponent all day and was very physical. But with Spencer you always find a negative in my opinion, the gangly man kicked a set shot on the full and he had a few rotten kicks. Spencer, please handball. Neville Jetta - Love the way he pressures his opponents, run run run! He still needs to get a bit fitter but he was good, very vocal which I liked. He pushed himself a few times today and it was a step in the right direction. The time and awareness in that situation to know exactly who will hit him was priceless and my fav moment of the day. I am still in love with Jack Watts haha. Austin Wonaeamirri - Good effort from Aussie, was great to see him again. He worked hard and his skills are still great. However his game aside it was just a really positive thing that he made it through the game. Another 2 weeks at Casey to get the fitness up. His forward line pressure was great today and he will still fit our team perfectly. Was denied a goal due to the umpire denying advantage and missed 2 good snaps. Could have easily been a 3 goal game. Kyle Cheney - He is such a solid boy. Strong and confident in his body. Played another good game and did well on his opponent. Was a good showing and surely at some point in the year we will see him in the red and blue again. Great effort by the boys from Casey, Stockdale is a ripper and Wall could find himself rookie listed one day, always consistent. Jordan McMahon - Feel like I should mention the forgotten Demon. He is fast, but a dud and his once beautiful skills at the Doggies are long gone. Smiled everytime I saw him touch the footy. Hope thats an ok review, if you have any questions just ask.
  12. Seems like a bit of a cult hero in the making..... Any time he got the ball you would hear a bellowing Huuuuughhhessss around the ground. Reminded me of Yze and to a lesser extent Cooney.
  13. For any MCC members, Demonlanders are often in the spud bar, however it's barely ever open. Hopefully being a night game it will be tonight, quickest place to get a beer in the MCG.
  14. But in all seriousness I could come on here, start a thread saying "Melbourne Demons were salary cap cheats in 2005" or "Rhys Healey is debuting" or "Jack Watts has a drinking problem" Would you not be entitled to at the very least ask the question of how they know? I have no problem with keeping you sources close to your chest, it's more than reasonable. But to then enter the thread and act as if I had written 7 posts saying that I don't believe it is a tad silly.
  15. Don't understand why your acting like I wrote all over the thread claiming your wrong, all I asked was for someone to back it up a bit so I would know for sure. You won't say much because there isn't really any substance to say much.
  16. Top work Bails, won't be doubted again. Little confused by this furious d? What are you saying?
  17. Thanks for the report mate, it's always appreciated.
  18. So people are saying Bails is at least somewhat reliable, can I ask how you know? Or if you have even the slightest bit of proof?
  19. Well I hope Bails is right.
  20. Got an example?
  21. Source? How do you know?
  22. I agree with this, Hughes is the best in form, he is working hard, and has a mature body for AFL footy. It's time to unleash Danny Hughes!! Totally with you on Maric, I truly do not understand the love on this forum for him... Has done nothing but a few ok kicks at AFL level, can't kick straight infront of goal which he is supposed to be awesome at and is about the physical size of a 13 year old girl.
  23. It is not always overly glowing at all... It's called constructive critiscm and sometimes players do cop it. Cheney and Newton immediately spring to mind as 2 players who copped a bit of a whack, have a look at Newtons review, hardly glowing at all. If Gotch had said this about Watts then I would be worried as that is in the context of a media released review about a player, it is a terrible review, but Gotch didn't say that about Watts, he said Watts did some outstanding things and had a hand in a few goals. The only negative was work ethic, which you could put down to a number of things such as match fitness, jetlag, or a really good game by his opponent. Michael Newton - Juice helped out a bit in the ruck as well as playing forward. I was probably expecting a bit more from him, because his pre-season form was so good. But, he kicked one goal, and he did some good things. He still contributed, which was good, and played a role in the team.
  24. Casey coach Brad Gotch always reviews the players, and while they are always somewhat positive, this one hardly gives any notion that Watts was as terrible as some who claim to have watched the game are acting. I don't know about everyone else on here, but I trust the VFL level senior coach over some random people on the internet.... Jack Watts - Jack did some outstanding things, as we know he can do, and it’s just that repeated effort stuff that we want from him and need to keep working on. He kicked a goal himself and assisted in a few other goals. He moved around, and worked hard up the ground. He uncharacteristically missed a couple of goals in the second quarter, but in the last quarter we needed him to kick one, and he did. He’s got some class, and it was another step in the right direction this week.
  25. Depending on how he goes this year and over next pre season im voting Colin Sylvia! Im thinking in 2 years when he is turning 26 and we are a finals side he will be hitting his absolute all australian best and will be a great leader and a great story of a troubled player turning the corner. I know this is unlikely, just a pipe-dream, but still, thats what Demonland is for.
