WOW! Tomlinson and Langdon it is amazing to have two very talented ready made players extra experience to boost our stocks. That is what you call depth. Jackson, Lockhart and Bedford future looked good for us.

Come on Dees! Preseason or not Hate losing to the Mongrel Hawks. Stressed before the season actually starts.

It is a blink of the eye a split second thing when meeting the ball. I don't think you can catch the ball on movement with your eyes shut and jumping to do it. Kicking the ball you would have to keep your eyes open when lowering and letting go of the ball to make sure when connecting with the foot.

Viney reads the play of the game he is tough and leads from the front. He is a leader no doubt. He has carried that foot injury and played with it in the finals in 2018 and more than held his own. He suffered with it last year however we had multiple injury concerns with some of our key players and having a bad year in 2019 didn't help his cause being captain . He couldn't carry the workload because of injury and his form suffered as well. We had our reasons for being mediocre and Viney is not alone in this case. No major injuries and a good preseason play a part in doing well so fingers crossed we are on the way to a bright year. Free of injury and fit a Jack Viney will help to get closer to achieve the ultimate.

Harmsey will perform well whatever roll he is given. Has tagged the best players when needed and has outpointed them many times. He has become a well round footballer who reads the play well. Off halfback he will run and carry and set us up, He can run hard tackle as he did in the finals with 20 of the best he is solid as and most of all he has time on his side. He learns quick. Another string to his bow.

The Boys are very close knit and that is something. Goody announcing that Harley Bennell has been offered a contract and the boys getting around him brings a tear in my eye. I know we are on the right track we just need that little bit of luck to go right for us. Can't help it I just love my club.

Vince was worth his salt for we didn't have much going for us . Bernie gave us spark. When he crossed the white line he was playing for his team mates and the club and gave his all. He left an impression.

Beat the Weasles in the first round of the season and the memberships will go through the roof.

If Robbie was in our team of 2020 he would inspire us to greater heights. Without a doubt we would be Premiers. Such a great player and person an inspiration and was much loved by the us fans.

IMO barring any injuries Petrac will perform and doesn't have to be BOG every game to have an influence on the game..He is doing the right things and has trimmed down to a good playing weight during the preseason. That is good discipline. .Will spend more time in the midfield and showcase his skills to bamboozle the opposition. We have him for the next 3 seasons at least till the end of 2022 when he will turn 27 in Jan 23. Till then he will be building a reputation of being one of the elite players of the competition. It certainly is possible.

Don't hold your breath Earl. I am so surprised that anyone can see some thing in him. played 11 games since he debut in 2017. I hope he does well for his sake and I hope he proves me wrong. I cannot rate him. I am sorry

Petty 20 yo can play forward and held his own in the AFL 10 games in 2019 as a key started in the back line and ended as a forward where he kicked 6 goals for the season. He might have kicked 3 or in a game. Correct me if anyone wants to. 197cm tall and has upside plenty of it. IMO he will be used wisely maybe has to wait his turn however don't be surprised if he plays regularly. He will only get better. He has the time to make a name for himself forward or Back. Glad he is on our side. His best stats against St Kilda 12kicks 11 handballs 23 poss 10 marks in 2019. playing back. He kicked 3 goals against the Bulldogs. Good going. Watch this space.

That sounds about right Balls. He is finally starting to mature as a person and has committed to the cause to stand by his mates. Unlike some others in the past.

I love the fact that Petrac signed before the season because of the hype that he will have on him when tearing sides to shreds. He had a semi breakout season in the second half of the season in 2019 and this year he will crank it up. We locked him in which is fantastic and for now l can sleep easy.

Lions Trying to Avoid "Doing a Melbourne"
nosoupforme replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
If you you know Melbourne like we do then.... Only Melbourne can do a Melbourne. -
We blew off the cobwebs after half time then we rode them to the ground. Great for the boys and our supporters. I know it is early but the signs are positive. They look fit which was one of our biggest downfall in 2019. Petracca is a gun he really is. He cranked it up half way into the season last year and was one of a few positives and now he has taken it the next step and he means business . I know it is early to say but you can sense it.

Max Gawn will make a great captain no doubt and will lead by example. However some of us are quick to kick Viney in the guts by saying that they never liked him as captain because of his demeanor. Viney gives his all although he had problems with his foot he battled through it and managed to help us win some vital games in 2018. In the finals he gave his all and lead from the front. Viney outpointed Selwood in the finals which was great to watch and went a long way in us winning.. A real Melbourne boy that burns in his guts. Gawn or Viney or both as captain it wouldn't matter. They lead on and off the ground by example. .

Don't need to hear Pert's predictions l would rather take it a week at a time. That is the old saying .....Isn't it ?

I sort of believed you but at some stage i thought who was in the tree? what kind of listening devices is being used? It could have been interesting to listen into what goes on at this time of year. However l was sucked into for the majority. I didn't mind getting goaded well done. l got a giggle out of it.

Luke Jackson is not only going to be pushed into playing as early as round 1, he could possibly be more involved in sharing the ruck responsibilities with Max assuming that Maxy might not be quite 100%. As young as Luke is, he will have to grow up very quickly and I have the feeling that he will meet the challenge. Hopefully Max is right to go by then.

Well said RBT that is how l look at it as well. However I like to say that you don't fluke a finals and fluke winning finals games because we have talent on our list to do well at any time. Injury free to keys and some very good pickups has rejuvenated the list there is no reason for all of us not to feel confident. Therefore there is a reason but to feel optimistic about 2020 and beyond. We have to live the dream. So sign up if you haven't yet out there.

All things good you are starting to see a different Petracca. You will see a smoother action and a modified follow through from him. He means business looking at his preseason so far. Its called climbing the ladder so to speak. Here 's hoping.

Pound for Pound Robbie Flower. He was just a marvel. I always gave us a chance when he was playing and not injured in our dark days. RDB helped to give us a successful era on and off the field a legend way ahead of his time. I would have loved to have seen Jack Mueller play 4 premiershis and 3 b&f's lost 2 fingers in a timber accident early in his career. Up there with the best of them.

Nathan Jones the heart of the club where loyalty is his strength. You couldn't ask for any better from a real Melbourne man. Congratulations on becoming an AFL life Member and more so hopefully a 300 gamer with the MFC.
