  1. Balic might surprise. He has more skill and more upside than Harmes and ANB. I also agree with some that Vanders is a lock.
  2. I hate this “weak draft” crap. Do the young fellas in the draft perceive themselves as being “weak”? They wouldn’t be in the draft at all if they didn’t have footballing talent. What they and the clubs that draft them do to make the most of that talent is what counts.
  3. The Hypodome
  4. Demonstone and yourself showing your ages if you both know Francis the talking mule. I don’t of course. Mr Ed is my limit regarding talking equines. That is my story and I am sticking to it.
  5. Has the potential to be anything as does Oliver and to a lesser extent, Hunt. The only issue with the future development of these young guys is keeping their ego in check. I have noticed flashes of self indulgence in all three of them (and more than a dash of it in big Maxy). Interestingly, no sign of that at all in GWS’s young star Kelly. Maybe his father knocked that out of him? That is one of the reasons that Jordan Lewis’ role is so important. He will knock the tickets off of anyone very quickly. I think young Jack Viney is in that mold too. Don’t get me wrong, self confidence is very important in all facets of life but more than one potential sports star has crashed and burned after taking one too many sips of their own bath water. It’s something less likely to occur within a team environment but still important to monitor and address early if detected.
  6. Can’t understand the complaining about what we coulda and shoulda done re the Jake Lever trade. Unless you were in the room during the negotiations any comment is baseless. The bottom line is that we got him. That’s all that matters. i reckon some of you blokes are the type to disappear into the pub sh!tters when your shout comes around.
  7. Don’t worry RM, the bloke potting you is the same one that reckons he drank 34 large Bintang beers in one session a few months back. That’s the equivalent of 37 pints. Either “moronic” or full of sh!t. I suspect the latter. Back to your topic, Gibson from North worth more than a cursory glance.
  8. Very professional footballer. Well worth a couple of years I reckon.
  9. Don’t need Schache. Upset many here in Brisbane with his sometimes prima donna carry on. Chose not to play with his mates in the NEAFL Grand Final. After that selfishness, was never going to play for the Lions again. My own view, a bit on the softish side too.
  10. If he can just get his turning circle down from that of an oil tanker to (say) a cruise ship, he might be OK.
  11. We will see the real Harley Balic stand up at our club. Never wanted to go west. Tried to give it his best shot but underlying family issues at home meant his head was never in a good space. Great get if it comes off. Class above ANB and Harmes.
  12. Sounds familiar.
  13. My FW yuppie next door neighbour here in Brisbane (he has a Doctorate in Floggery) who has never watched a game of AFL in his life, now has a Richmond flag flying on the roof of his house. He was talking "Dusty" this and "Jack" that and was heard singing " we're" from tiger land..." at the top of his lungs. Betcha that flag is gone by daylight and his BMW sports has a potato jammed up the exhaust pipe with a broomstick.
  14. I certainly don't want Jack to go. He is a very talented footballer and a popular player at the club. The problem is, that in the dictionary alongside the word "lackadaisical" is a photo of J. Watts.
  15. "Dark web" ? You mean like hell and purgatory? I'd have thought an admirer of Dante would enjoy that! Corruption in sport is a stark reality in Australia. http://www.aic.gov.au/publications/current series/tandi/481-500/tandi490.html Why do I still watch football? I have supported the Demons since 1966 and I'll be buggered if I am going to give it away now after all these years of suffering simply because a mixture of bureaucrats and crooks are trying to line their pockets. Why do I participate in this forum? There are several reasons. (1) To share thoughts on my beloved MFC with fellow supporters. (2) To openly discuss some of the issues that impact on our game with mature, open minded, respectful and intelligent people. (3) To respond to you.
  16. Money, money, money. The gambling dollar is corrupting sport and it's as simple as that. The questions that should be asked of the AFL are: "How much money does the AFL receive from betting agencies each year?" "Where does that money go?" It is getting to the stage where consideration should be given to establishing a Royal Commission into the links between betting agencies and corruption in Australian sport. It won't happen though. The truth would be too much to handle. I'd love to learn the identity and connections of big punters who placed pre-season doubles bets on Dusty for the Brownlow and the Tigers for Premiers.
  17. The whole club is a protected species.
  18. I remember watching Firecreek at the Mildura drive-in in the late 60's. Too hot to sit in the car so sat on benches just below the screen.
  19. WTF was that!
  20. Read what I said....passing on what I was given, NOT what I heard. I got it from a fellow MFC member via email FWIW.
  21. Yeah, I'd poach Scully too. With fava beans and a nice chianti.
  22. Just passing on what I am given... It is understood that the Adelaide Crows, Fremantle Dockers and the Melbourne Demon have held initial talks about the possibility of a 3-Way-Deal for the 2017 AFL Draft. The Deal would see Jesse Hogan, who has reportedly informed the Demons of his desire to return home to Western Australian as he battle home-sickness. Jake Lever would find his way to the Demons and the Docker’s would send their first round pick (currently pick 5) to the Crows. Jesse Hogan had a huge 2017 off the field, with the 22-year-old being diagnosed with testicular cancer, after a small tumour was discovered during a routine ultrasound. The diagnosis came just weeks after his father, died from the disease. Hogan has overcame the disease as the tumour had not spread into the rest of his body and it was able to be removed successfully. Now the 22-year-old has had discussions with the club at the prospect of a return to Perth, as his mother has become his main priority and wants to make a move to be close to her as they both continue to deal with their loss. The Demons are believed to be open to a potential move of Hogan Back to Perth if it could land their No.1 target of Jake Lever, who is believed to have told teammates that the 2017 season is almost certThe Crows would be pleased with the Dockers first draft pick, as they could use their own first round pick which as it currently stands is pick 17 to the Blues along with a 2nd or third round pick to secure Bryce Gibbs, who they failed to get a deal done with the Blues during the last AFL trade period. There is still a lot of water to go under the bridge before this deal can even be considered close to being done, but it is understood to be growing some traction and expect to gain momentum once the Adelaide 2017 campaign comes to end, as they will take on Geelong next Friday night in the first Preliminary Final at Adelaide Oval.
  23. Part of the Hogan trade maybe?
  24. Doesn't want to stay with us apparently?
