  1. Yes... and to give perspective We are on a percentage of 123.7% The Bulldogs and St Kilda who are two games behind us AND percentage are on 104.7% and 102.2% respectively Geelong who are a further half game behind are on 121%. So, we are effectively 19% ahead of the Bulldogs. We have scored 1626 points and conceded 1315 points , and if I recall how percentage works, its is points scored divided by points conceded*100. For that 19% to be made up (or our percentage reduced) to 104.7 - is 230 points scored differential ON TOP of the score that we put on over the next 5 weeks. We're looking at 5 losses of 45 points a week. Let's of course assume that we meet at the half way mark between the two percentages as The Dogs and Saints would be on a winning trajectory. The Dogs/Saints need to gain 115 points scored in wins or 25 points a match, whilst we would need to concede that in losses to meet them circa 114% I'm not particularly worried that it is achievable, with who we have to play, and whom they have to play.
  2. only if its negative 😆
  3. Oh man you are hillarious! No explanation from the club? You're right.. they themselves didn't explicitly announce it.... " 4 Sept 2022 — Melbourne star Christian Petracca is set to play through the pain of a broken leg, after scans revealed a “minor” hairline fracture from a nasty ..." " The extent to which Melbourne’s premiership defence last season was compromised by injury keeps coming to light. That superstar Christian Petracca played the semi-final loss to the Brisbane Lions with a hairline fracture in his right fibula was already known. So, too, was Max Gawn’s hip ailment, one that almost saw him miss that game. And Clayton Oliver had been carrying a thumb injury through the back end of the season." It's good to see you subscribe to the 'one soldier in, one soldier out' mentality....with all the Casey replacements killing it. That's not how the reality of it all works though. The team would be poorer if Dunstan was in for Oliver, JVR (2022 version) in for Gawn, Turner in for Lever, Melksham in for Petracca etc etc. Or is that just me?
  4. Whoa big fella, that wasn't a crack at you, or even an attempt to manipulate your words by putting them into a different context. I used what you wrote, to speak of a wider viewpoint on Demonland. I thought what you wrote was completely valid, and that most commentary on the Demonland community is around that Goodwin has failed as a coach if we don't get a least a second premiership.
  5. And this comment is what it is all about The inference that we have 'generational players in our team' and thus Goodwin did not (has not) got the ''maximum' out of the team - which also goes hand in hand with the same posters saying our forward line is a shambles... in which case, perhaps Goodwin IS getting the maximum out of the team even if we fail to win another premiership.
  6. I didn't see you had posted in a similar vein earlier. Definately have been reading it as KYE-NAN for the past 18 months, so it surprised me on the video when it was pronounced KEE-NAN. My neighbours boys name is that, and definitely Irish stock.
  7. oh, it's pronounced KEE-NAN !😆🤷‍♂️
  8. stop giving me stats, they just suit your optimists narrative....still an average team though... 😁
  9. old mate @Tracca has kicked a goal at AFL level, so he must know 'what it takes' of course.
  10. Media Bias, What Can We Do? 🤷‍♂️ (meh) Suggestion of a slight tweak to the title...
  11. I reckon that’s a bit rough Clint. We’re throwing the cat amongst the pigeons for match ups… it’s flexible, it’s agile, it’s exciting… and it’s not throwing magnets around.
  12. I'm tipping a loss against Richmond, and the resting of a couple of players. If it eventuates. What reaction will we get from the pessimists? What reaction will we get from the optimists? And what does it mean for our season?
  13. nah mate... were just not competitive enough 🤷‍♂️
  14. He’s often a bit more ‘shouty at others’ when is having a poor game…
  15. So did Collingwood last night 🤷‍♂️
  16. What a curious performance.....
  17. Let's be clear, it was one and on only...
  18. where is McKay off to?
  19. I'm going to disagree here as well - we smashed them on scoring shots, that's one of my metrics for performance. 8.18 to 9.8 It's still out of 4 teams. 😇 If Collingwood had beaten us like that - and we were 3 games ahead of them and favourites, I'd be hoping Goodwin and Co would be going through that match in forensic detail to ensure it doesn't happen again vs resting on the fait acompli that a few players come back would make all the difference. Our system comfortably beat their system.
  20. I'd argue you are misinterpreting an outcome (a win) as the evidence that you have or have not played in a particular way. There have been very very tight matches between the top 4 all year. Now, some people will have a look at expected scores - say us and port vs Collingwood and Collingwood should have lost both by around 5-7 goals. I guess it's about how we as individuals look at whether performing means getting the win, and by/or by not taking into account the other team. I come back to my point earlier about having lost 2 in a row and then suddenly winning... whats that about? We hadn't 'practiced winning for the previous two weeks'- so it had zero baring on the outcome of the 3rd game of those matches that we ultimately won.
  21. We will have to disagree... the evidence is, we have lost 2, won 2, lost 2, and the inconsistent form - driven by the training methodology, didn't impact on our ability to come from behind in the final quarter and still persist. The outcome quite likely could have been different. The winning builds belief concept only works, if you subscribe to the fact that you 'need' it. For what it's worth - I appreciate the sentiment - and having worked in the space, it's not a useful theory to buy into. It's ideal if you have confidence/belief....but you don't need it. As an example, we lost two in a row... not winning form I suppose. Then we won... so what happened... we didn't have winning form AND still won? We don't need to intimidate anyone... we just need to win on the days that it counts. Go Dees ❤️💙
  22. I'm confused... as you wrote this " Need to go out there and win the football game today. Probably getting to the point where we can only drop one or none more in 2023 to be realistic shot at anything. This simply must be a win. " The fact that a win gives us 2 matches on 5th and percentage, would also mean, its not a must win.
  23. Why? - and did last week not count? Or the match against Collingwood? 🙂 Or does too much time elapse?
