  1. If l hear anyone on this forum say that we are not doctors and we should back the clubs sports science and medical teams l will throw up. Hogan clearly had a significant injury during the game, why bring him back on if you don’t know how serious it is? “We feel we have got it quite early”. More rubbish from Misson
  2. He is no good in the first few weeks of his returns from injury so l wouldn’t want him playing finals unconditioned and destabilising established midfield roles
  3. Learnt long ago to not trust the injury reports on any Mfc player of significance. Viney being one of them. No chance of returning, and looking forward to the mooted review of our sports science team.
  4. Not one full stop. Great work
  5. Apparently the opportunity to be an ambassador for Visy was an opportunity too good to refuse for the would be conservationist
  6. Great to sign him. 4 years on the back of 2 years with concussion might be overs
  7. Still waiting for the supposed fire in the belly that was started with our embarrassing lose to Collingwood last year to appear
  8. This only happens in junior footy.
  9. The fact that the MFC has announced they are investigating the injuries publicly suggests this is no ordinary review. They could have just gone about assessing their training without making it public which I am sure happens to some degree all the time. So for me, this is the beginning of some over due changes to our sports science team.
  10. Just perception but never felt Bartlett appreciated Peter Jackson talking about the old and new Melbourne boards when he arrived. From afar it seemed like Jackson (with the strong support of the afl) probably ran his own show which for the most part has been a success but has not totally been forgotten
  11. Seems the club made the right call knowing they would target Fritsch who will provided a similar output for much less money. Money ball at its best! Jack who?
  12. I think most would agree that it helps to create the perception you are strongly considering bigger other offers if you want others to match them or better them. You need to set up a small market place
  13. He isn’t going anywhere. Said he will decide soon so he can only be staying at port and holding out for the best contract
  14. Would be excellent. Awesome results with cricket Australia over years if you look at viewership, attendance, participation growth stats
  15. Possibly over thinking some of this DV8
  16. If the AFL is pulling the strings, no disrespect intended, but board members aren't going to tell you this
  17. Mahoney has been excellent. Some might think it’s a tad early but he will get there soon enough. We might lose him to another club if we don’t reward him now
  18. Agree. That’s one of the reasons Hawthorn have won flags recently without finishing on top. They time their run to perfection
  19. You have actually highlighted many of the injury mgmt issues last year that caused us issues: Viney should not be allowed to mismanage his recovery out of a determination to help the team - he is our most influential player Gawn himself on refection said it wasn't just his hammy but that he did get fit enough to return Watts was criticised for not getting himself fit for this return and was subsequently dropped. Salem was also unfit and dropped back to VFL Tmac had a set back earlier this year. Lets hope he hasn't had another one.
  20. I think its stupid to ignore stats for injury management and assume sports science are doing a good job just because its a bit of a black box to read
  21. l know that many will disagree with me, but unlike some, I'm not focused just on popularist views .. check the stats for yourself: 2017 injury ladder (and it only got worse as the year progressed and we missed finals) http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/more-news/greater-western-sydney-sits-on-top-of-hurt-ladder-by-a-long-way/news-story/260167253f20b80354b15fc8ee3de301 2016 injury ladder: https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/afls-injury-ladder-hawthorn-gws-not-alarmed-by-luckless-run-20170724-gxhh2x.html Hopefully our sports science team don't derail what has been a good start this season
  22. Your just being naive ... our injury management cost us finals last year ... so it needs to be called out
  23. Should have come through the VFL and slowly built up game time ... foot injuries are tricky and not to be risked. This (if it is a set back) would now be his 2nd for the year
