  1. Buggs cards are marked. Is colyer contracted next year? If not, we would get him pretty cheaply and l assume (like melk and hibbo) that Goodwin can get the best out of him
  2. You know your a destination club when A and B grade free agents nominate you as their preferred club e.g. Geelong and Hawthorn. Also helps to be a large club with resources and big crowds to play in front of e.g. Collingwood, Essendon.
  3. Frost easily the first out without a second thought but Mahoney implied recently that they would be around if May was signed
  4. North offer (being the largest financially amongst other clubs) would have been used to drum up a better offer at his preferred club being west coast. Doubt he was ever leaving. Manager declaring it s between north and west coast was purely strategic in my view. Can polec pull out still?
  5. kick mark game plan not the answer for everyone unless you have marking options like darling, kennedy, mcgovern, barass, natanui etc. collingwood lost because their mids got outplayed badly on the day and they don't have key backs. as for the mfc they didn't turn up to play the other week. we need another tall as a backup more so if gawn goes down
  6. have we really given this bloke his own thread?
  7. clearly hoges is meeting clubs, but if he doesn't request a trade expect his contract to be extended so we dont lose him as a free agent
  8. agree but 1 or 2 should have showed something if we were getting it right. we aren't and in the circumstance we should just go to the draft going forward
  9. kade is clearly flawed if he can't get a game at gc and they want to move him on
  10. yet, we have been poor with recycler players or pro scouting i.e. balic, mckenna, bugg, ben kennedy, aiden riley, and many more from the neeld era which l won't go into
  11. yes that was discussed in a prior post
  12. Not true. Gaff and Lycett are moving on so they have heaps of cap space. West coast expressed interest in him last time rumours were around, even with Darling and Kennedy on their books. With Kennedy 32 next year and injury prone, they need another forward and I'm sure they would love to have the 3 of them running around next season
  13. All clubs would be interested in a premier forward I think but Jesse will only go interstate to WA. Don't rule out West Coast either
  14. Bugg gone, Kent going and if Spargo gets the 2nd year blues, we still need a back up crumber. Having someone that has kicked 40 plus goals isn't a bad plan B assuming the $ are in line
  15. Can we really blame a bloke who left a rabble of a club at the time for $1m+ a year. Who are we kidding? Having said that, I would have concerns about his longevity, given his knee issues and injuries of late
  16. On paper we need some outside run and apparently he can provide this. However, if GC are happy for him to explore his options, how good is he really?
  17. Understand we might need another tall but would not use the Collingwood game as an example of that. We won the ruck many more time than we lost this year. The Preuss interest to me is more around having an extra tall on the list for backup in case Gawn is injured, Hoges goes or rule change leading to more open marking contests. Would love Stephen May also.
  18. He offers us something different with his brute strength and don't argues - often in key moments. Will be better with an uninterrupted preseason and did fantastically well to earn a call up so soon after returning to VFL. Reading between the lines, he is 'exploring' and not yet requested a trade because he doesn't yet have a guaranteed suitor. Good luck to him whatever he does however.
  19. If the Hogan rumour is true (which I actually believe this time) our interest in Preuse now makes a little more sense to me particularly if we are unsure whether we can extract Steven May
  20. Good mates with Kent from WA who could be on the way out
  21. I actually enjoyed the article as it had some new insights about our past. The timing however, given Caro would have been sitting on those facts for some time, was very disappointing and showed signs of malice. So I am supportive of the clubs decision. In its simplest form, if you had a mate that was invited to your party and just before the party they openly bagged everyone attending that party, would you still want them to go? Clearly not. Doesn't mean the relationship is completely broken but clearly there attendance would spoil what would otherwise be a great event shared by those that have put in so much hard work at the club
  22. We are getting into premiership contention so you don't want to lose any A-grade talent unless list mgmt have a guaranteed A-grader coming back the other way. Would be ok if Sam May, Gaff, Neale, or an unknown are coming back the other way. We will stretch teams with Weid, TMac and Hoges like never before. Weid will get the 3rd best tall and will benefit as much as anyone and learn along the way.
  23. No, two terrible coaching appointments that set the club back years is more than enough. He's a know it all that actually doesnt know that much. Chanpion player and captain though. And let's not mention the elephant in the room
