Ball comes out to Petruccelle who twists and turns before handing it off to Petracca who then snaps over his left shoulder for a sausage roll ... yep flows nicely, lets lock him in with pick 29

More annoyed with the insipid end to the year than player movement. Dont get me started on that ... -

This is pointless if you are going to flip things all the time ... over it -

You said I could quote you. Don't think I need to answer that one. -
You seem a little defensive / sensitive to criticism of the club on this occasion AF - its not a pot shot its debating. Industry thinks we paid overs and we did. Would love SOS doing the negotiations for us with Taylor and co doing the scouting and selecting of the players
-
Don't disagree but what has that got to do the current trade period and who did most with what they had?
-
Yep, they are the clear winners. Carlton has done well getting quality picks in for the rebuild, SOS and Dodoro play hard ball and it shows in their results. Lessons to be learnt for next time for MFC

Mitch Clarke is the only player I can recall doing an about face like that to join us ... rest my case

The Suns have sent the Eagles picks No.21, No.26 and No.37, and in return received the Eagles' 2018 first-round pick and this year's No.50 selection.
-
Suns just traded into 1st round. Looks like we missed our chance

Prefer you don't put words in my mouth. My comments are very measured. Mahoney has done an outstanding job with others to rebuild our list. Am critical of the Lever deal only. We made a rare 'trade' mistake which cost us a 1st rounder. Off to talk about something else. -
Absolute footy head. Expect he will climb the coaching ladder very very quickly
-
Totally on the money KDA. They received an unexpected bounty and were happy to let it go because they know Carlton are hard nosed

You asked how the Gibbs trade was going for Carlton as you indicated being hard nosed doesn't work. Now that it has been an overwhelming success for Carlton you try and flip it the other way ... hypocritical and convenient -
Gibbs contracted (SOS expect extra value) Lever was uncontracted ... should have held firm like Carlton did and they have shown they would buckle

Your recent observations appeal to masses but are simplistic jnrmac -

Carlton is doing just fine I'd say having started their list rebuild after us. Thanks for reinforcing my point - Carlton just held firm on Gibbs (29 yrs old next year) and guess what Adelaide buckled and paid ridiculous overs. That's what you get for being hard nosed: Under the deal: - Carlton received pick Nos.10, 16, and 73 in this year's draft and the Crows' 2018 second-round pick. - Adelaide received Gibbs, No.77 and Carlton's 2018 second-round and third-round picks. -

Rubbish .. of course Adelaide would have buckled ...the market did not say 2 1st rounders ... most industry types have been quoted sayimg we paid over given he is uncontracted. Would have been acceptable to me if he was a contracted player -
I wondered that also. We poached Debbie from the Bulldogs l believe and she seems to be on the move pretty regularly. Michelle Cowan our gun coach left last year. Daisy Peace l believe scaled back her off field role as well. Having said that they all seemed to have good reasons
-
Agree. Our recent trading has been first rate. I think we should have given less for the Lever trade but overall they have gone an excellent job in transforming our list
-
Could have built that team with less picks is the point. Being hard nosed hasnt harmed carl or esse

Does it matter? You can't be serious. Of course it does. Why even have a draft order if it doesn't matter. We are going to get a lesser player next year because we haven't got a 1st rounder. 2nd rounders rarely get you a decent player. We should have got the same trades done for less so its irrelevant that we are easy to deal with. Being hard nosed doesnt seem to have hurt carlton and esse -
Gotta have mob forward pressure, that's where the game has been going increasingly so since Aaron Davey showed the way and perfected the run down Inconsistent talent isn't tolerated any more e.g. Motlop, Stringer, Watts

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC

The will give a late pick at best but more likely just do a swap of late picks ... don't stress -
Time to move onto the Balic thread ... 9 years wasted
