Barely? I'd disagree with that. He makes the odd poor decision from time to time, but more often than not when he's not trying to take a huge risk he can hit a target. He has been able to improve over time, although it would be nice to see him improve even more. True, and I always hoped PJ would make it for us. We have a better development system in place now and I'd back them to do a better job with someone like Coleman-Jones.
-
Wouldn't mind Coleman-Jones at our pick in the 40s. The one thing he's got is good hands below his knees, something that can be hard to teach. Making better decisions and improving your kicking is easier to teach, so he would be worth a look.

I feel a little bit sick reading that. No chance Hurley is the Number 1 pick, though. I'd have Sloane, Hannebery and even Beams ahead of him.
-
Vanders still concerns me a little. Doesn't sound like he is making the progress they had hoped he would at this stage in his recovery. There is a long way to go, so hopefully that turns around as the pre-season continues.

I want him recruited just to annoy @dieter.

Preseason Training - Week commencing 6/11/17
Wiseblood replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm just hoping for minimal injuries this off season. I'd love to see us hit the ground running in Round 1 with our best 22 out there, or at least very close to it. A focus on a Plan B with our gameplan wouldn't go astray either. Once it was found out we had nothing to fall back on. -
15 - Paul Hopgood, Ross Funcke. I saw 4 mentioned earlier and there was no sign of Craig Ellis. That's a travesty. In all seriousness, 5 with the Ox and Petracca isn't half bad. All the others have been rightly mentioned.
-
Not only that, but Jake Lever will, for the first time in football history, don the number '0'. I guess it's fitting as there would be a few of those on the end of his contract.
-
How many come back from 3 and get better? That list is very, very short. The Ox, before and then after the knee recos, got every possible ounce of talent out of his body. The fact he played as many games as he did and won a club best and fairest goes to show how committed he was to the club and to giving absolutely everything he had to the cause. If all the players on our list followed that lead then we wouldn't be going far wrong.

Jack Trengove signed by Port Adelaide as a Delisted Free Agent
Wiseblood replied to dimmy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Absolutely stoked for Trenners. I think the club made the right decision to move him on, but I also feel as though he deserved a second chance elsewhere as well. Hopefully it's a positive outcome for all involved. -
From his highlights package, during the last term against the Dogs he had 25 touches, 12 marks and had kicked 2 goals. The Ox had a massive tank and would do a mammoth amount of work to not only kick goals but set them up as well. Lyon kicked 10 that day and he had a hand in many of them. It's why I'm still super excited to see Jesse get a full pre-season under his belt as I believe he can play this exact role for us going forward. He doesn't need to hit the scoreboard each week in big numbers to have a positive impact on the side. Schwarz was exactly the same.

Peter Vardy.

Prior to the knee reco he was going to be one of the best players to ever pull on the red and blue jumper. He was, at the very least, a superstar at the end of 1994. It's a shame to see you not giving him the credit he deserves.
-
I couldn't care less either, mate. There is some good and there is some bad. It's the same every single year. There isn't much to talk about at this time of the year so the fixture gets more analysis than it should.

If his son can do anything like his old man could then I think we'll be pretty happy.

Also, I'd wait on the membership panic until Round 1. People have a myriad of reasons for not signing up - money is tight, their auto renewal stuffs up because their credit card needs updating, some are still annoyed about the end of last season. We may be behind on last year, but we are only just rolling over to November. Plenty of membership water to go under the bridge.
-
I do the auto renewal and have had my 3 already go through. Will do that each and every year regardless. No worries, fairweather. Happy now to pay up during the good times but won't do it during the bad. Change your username to bandwagon and you're all set.

Nobody really knows how easy or hard a draw will be until the season is well underway. Some teams surprise, others fall down the ladder a little. People are saying the Pies have an easy draw, but that doesn't take into account so many other factors like form, injuries and the like. If we are to make finals we'll do it off the back of good, consistent footy, regardless of the draw.

Because I don't trust the bloke. He's turned up here as the Watts stuff took off and went from being totally harmless on the issue to claiming he is Watts' uncle. Then he has to think about sticking with the Dees because, you know, he's supported us for 9 years which is the length of time Jack has been with the club. This is purely my opinion, but Chewy is a troll. I wouldn't believe a word he types on this forum. Hence, why I encouraged him to 'jog on'. I'd never use that turn of phrase with posters who have been here for a long time or shown themselves to be quality contributors to these forums. He's neither.

Stupid and pointless? Not at all. They're just wrong.

Port the big winners in Trade Week?
Wiseblood replied to Bring Back Barassi's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's also the assessment of someone I wouldn't trust to sit the right way on a toilet seat. -
@praha - the above is easily the best summation of the situation in 267 pages. Couldn't have put it any better.
-
If that's the argument they use to support their view then you know you've already won.
-
This is the line that stood out to me the most: "Lever just had the best season of any key defender under the age of 24 since 2010." If anyone continues to argue that we paid overs then I'll assume they don't know what they're talking about.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC
Wiseblood replied to ignition.'s topic in Melbourne Demons
We'll give Balic 9 years like we did with the bloke you're referring to, then. If he isn't up to scratch after 9 years then we can move him on.
