  1. I'm in again DV! Team name is 'Van Buren Boys'. Thanks in advance for your time and effort in getting this all organised for another year!
  2. There must be a plausible reason for the change. Otherwise it makes little sense to have the open session at a time when most people are either working or at school. What difference does it make if it's on a Saturday morning as opposed to a Friday morning? Hopefully something changes by the time the camp rolls around so you guys up QLD way can get there!
  3. Sue, just wanted to clarify that this isn't a blue at all. More a discussion than anything else, although I must admit much of what I'm 'discussing' has been done before. I should know better. If you had read what I posted you would quickly realise I haven't picked a fight at all, merely questioned an assertion you made re: selection on an earlier page. Where have I picked a fight? I haven't been rude, mean, derogatory etc. I haven't even gone off topic as a large part of selection is based on training. It just goes to show that you won't partake in a proper discussion with anybody, you would rather hide behind your 'opinion' argument than actually do it with maturity.
  4. You play this line every time you are questioned as if it absconds you from being wrong - it doesn't. Your opinion can be wrong. Your assertion earlier was that the 22 who play on match day will be selected from those who are fit and in form. I love the fact that we have greater depth now and there is far more competition for spots, but to say selection is based on those two things is wrong. That's not opinion, it's fact. They are two different things. Weideman is a prime example. In the JLT series last year he kicked just 2 goals in 3 games. That's not someone in form, yet he was picked anyway as they 'hoped' he would form a partnership with Hogan up forward. Many questioned this decision from the outset and were proven right. He was picked more on potential and what they wanted from him up forward than his form or even his fitness in a game. We all know Joel Smith was rushed back way, way, way too early. Ditto for Jack Viney and even Max Gawn, who admitted he was probably brought back a little sooner than he should have. It's clear that the team needed them, regardless of their current form or their fitness. We could go on and on about this, but we come back to the 'opinion' you've arrived at that Goodwin will select the team based on their form and fitness. That's just not going to the case. You go with it every year but we end up with the same results. You can have your own opinions but you can't have your own facts.
  5. All clubs are playing, dc. It's done over a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. The other Vic clubs are playing on the other nights.
  6. I'm sure it's been discussed elsewhere, but what are people's opinions on AFLX? I'll be in honest in that I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to it - are others pumped for it? Couldn't care less? What's the general feeling? I'll be watching because it's footy and Melbourne's playing, but outside of that I'm not sure I have much interest.
  7. Turn your sense of humour off this morning, faulty?
  8. Facts, friend. I deal in facts.
  9. Will we have the coin to pursue another free agent this year? We do have plenty of players coming out of contract this year that could create space, but after nabbing Lever I can see us potentially being a little quieter come this off season. That does depend on many factors, though, so I could be way off the mark.
  10. It's a loophole. I think you're safe.
  11. No coach in the league picks purely on fitness and form. That's simple fact. Goodwin did it numerous times himself last season when he brought back players who weren't fit enough yet (ie. Joel Smith) or ignored those at VFL level who were in terrific form (ie. Kennedy). Every team have players who are treated a little differently to others - the stars are rushed back, while those who have a line through their name are constantly overlooked, regardless of how well they are playing or training. Goodwin will select the side he wants each week. Mostly it will be on fitness and form but to suggest that will be the only thing is a little silly.
  12. It's a bannable offence. Can the owner of the site ban himself though? That is the question...
  13. Setback? I thought the above was always going to happen as part of making sure he is right for Round 1?
  14. That's about it for me too, OD. Players will be rotated, we'll look rusty and pretty good in patches and the results are meaningless. If we can get some run into the players and minimise any injuries then that's a big win for me.
  15. It's been a while since I purchased a new Demons guernsey, but I have a feeling that's about to change very quickly with this one. I reckon it's an absolute ripper.
  16. And you're like the old bloke at the end of the bar who rants and raves, but all he ends up doing is staring into a half empty pot because no one will listen. I wasn't tell you what kind of supporter you are, just what you project to those of us on here. That's your problem, not mine.
  17. Can't link to the post on Instagram, but the royal blue looks good. Means we don't deviate from our current jumper much at all which can only be a good thing.
  18. I believe this is from a little while ago as his lawyer argued against a prison sentence as he has already taken steps to rectify his mistakes by paying everything back to the person in full, moving back to his home town and getting a role with his local footy club. Doesn't excuse for one second the absolutely stupid decisions he has made, but it seems he has fallen so far that he has no choice but to try and climb back out of the hole he has made. I hope this is the last we hear of him for a long, long time.
  19. Never a truer word written on this forum. Who says we weren't turning them away? How do you know this hasn't been a long process that's finally culminated in the perfect deal for the club? How do you know we haven't been in discussions with numerous companies as we look for the right deal? That's right, you don't. I'm constantly bewildered that some on here talk about our off field team as if they're twelve year old's who have no idea what they are doing. Do you think PJ and co. just sat at their desks for months awaiting a call from a prospective sponsor? Give them the credit they deserve. Your rhetoric may have been relevant back when we stunk it up, but we aren't that club anymore. Your constant knocks on the club make you look like a 'non' supporter who doesn't deserve to enjoy the good times when they roll around.
  20. Of course not. I just find it bemusing that your line of thinking is to not express any form of pleasure, excitement, good will etc about the club signing a major sponsor for the next 3 years, but it is to instantly look for something else to whinge or worry or panic about. What's next? Complaining that the new sponsor starts with a 'Z' and it's too far down the alphabet for you?
  21. Well done OD - we solve one problem, you quickly move on to worrying about the next.
  22. Never in doubt. Well done to PJ and co. for getting it done. No, but you might get 50% off a trip to Switzerland instead!
  23. I'd back us in to beat the Cats. Norf, though? They could field a team of 10 year old's and they would still be a chance to roll us.
  24. Hopefully 2 outta 3 won't be bad then my friend.
