  1. I think Dustan's got tools but hasn't been shown how to use them, when you're in a side that's not interested in you it can be difficult to shine, maybe if he's given a role and sticks to its he'll do ok. All I'm saying is don't get too excited, in my opinion, he's behind quite a few and whilst he will never work his way to the top he will get a game if there are injuries. Jack Viney should take him under his wing and show him how to win the ball at stoppages and stick a tackle, and Harmsy should give him a few tips on how to tag a player and still win then ball. Williams can teach him to kick and preferably to a teammate. I've seen him did some good things and some bad thinks, when he has to kick the ball in to the forward line he seems to freeze and kicks a grubber or to no one. At Melbourne you are either in or out, you don't half tackle you hit them with all you can, you don't throw a half hearted arm at them. That's Melbourne of old.
  2. You can do just that, but I'd suggest that you watch a couple of his games before you form any opinion. I've watched 6 in the last week and only the ones where he got a lot of possessions so I could get a good picture of him. He had some good patches in several games but nothing sustainable over a full game. There seems to be a disconnect between him and his team mates. I certainly hope I'm wrong but from what I've seen he's behind a lot of players at our club.
  3. Well I've watched a half dozen of his games from last year and I don't know quite where to start, but I will say that there didn't seem to be a great connection between Luke and the other Saints players. There were many times he would be alone calling for the ball and they would ignore him and kick it long down the line to a big contest. Or they would handball to another player who was under the pump who would in turn get rid of it to another equally under pressure, etc.etc. Some of there games I've watched have been appalling and the level of football smarts virtually non existent. But he was never the focal point even though he was metres from any opponent and seemed to be the best option. Luke played predominantly as a tagger and I felt he was a little loose and lost his player as soon as the ball was bounced. He was generally the third tackler in a contest, so the player had been tackled and he just joined in. He doesn't lay tackles like the good taggers. He gets a bit of the ball but does zero damage with his possessions, there are some exceptions but not many. He's certainly not hard at the ball or opposition player. His handball is not bad but his kicking is a bit off. This could be part of the pressure he's been under at the Saints, I'm not saying he plays bruise free football but he he doesn't throw himself around. It just seems to me he drifts through games and doesn't play the brand of football we play.
  4. You are aware that people are still dying, aren't you.
  5. Hotel Quarantine. There are two main types in Victoria, those that love Andrews, (Public Servants, School Teachers, Fire Fighters, Ambos and CFMEU) and the other main group, those that hate him, like me. I can't see much point in arguing with you as you obviously belong in the first group so we will never agree. Andrews effed up Hotel Quarantine and we, the lowly citizens of Victoria, paid the price. What happened is, to me, is as clear as crystal but it isn't to you. That was the biggest problem we faced and the cause of our lockdowns and many deaths. Just as a matter of interest, how do you arrive at the bolded, how can you blame the Feds and exonerate the cause of the Hotel Quarantine stuff up.
  6. How do you figure this out? Explain to me how we allowed every other State to go about their lives. Covid Zero was unacheivable, surely surely can see that now. BTW I think closing Australia' s Border did more to prevent the wholesale spread of Covid than any lockdown, curfew, restriction of distance allowed to travel etc.
  7. We closed the State for 3 months when we had 5 cases, you remember the short sharp one. Now we have over 17000 cases and it's business as usual, my how times have changed. Someone will write a book about this one day and expose the gross mismanagement and over reaction by Governments. You can't hold back the tide no matter how powerful the politicians feel they are.
  8. If we knew what Tmac's instructions were I guess we'd know if he was following them or not, but we don't.
  9. I got a copy of both from my son and that's why I didn't get it for myself, I sort of knew he would. He also gave me a little football with the club theme song on it. My house is looking like the MFC clubrooms.
  10. I ran in to Christian Salem today at JB HI FI and he was really happy that the boys could win a flag for the supporters and they will be going all out to win another this year. Really nice guy and he could probably see how emotional it was for me that they won the flag for us.
  11. I've watched a couple of Dunstan's games and he's not in the same street as Viney. If he gets a game it won't be at the expense of Jack, he will have to improve many aspects of his game to get in to the side.
  12. I'm going to watch all or most of the games that Luke played in this year and so far I'm not convinced he's a better player than Tom Sparrow. He gets a bit of the ball but doesn't use it well and doesn't appear to have the desperation that our players have, he seems to just drift a bit through the game. He may be a better player than I give him credit for, what would i know anyway, but I think he's a long way behind our mids in terms of skill and hardness at the ball and player, he may be a victim of the Saints style of play, which is pretty [censored]. They appear to be a rabble.
  13. Either way the point was made, we tsunam'd them.
  14. I think the comment by Taylor that Melbourne are drowning in goals, is right up there with bang etc. Mind you it may have been a repeat of another time, another game.
  15. He has to really dominate at Casey, not just 3 goals a week he needs to kick 4 or 5 and on good days kick 6 or 7, he has to show he's too good for Casey. He has to displace someone and that will be hard, but if he kicks goals consistently, they won't be able to ignore him. Tmac will have to be more consistent if that's the case. He's got a tank, I recall one game he played in when Jesse was still with us and he was second on the ground to Jesse in ground covered at half time.
  16. Personally I hope he makes it, he's got the talent all he needs is confidence. Time after time he gets his hands to the ball but just can't hold them, if he clunks a few it may all come together.
  17. Finally got my stuff today, I thought it would be and I'd just arrived home to see it being thrown over the front gate.
  18. I'm trying to watch the GC game for the second time and I'm at three quarter time right now, I doubt I can watch the rest of the game like last time. It's like watching an under 12 side trying to play against an AFL side, they are just terrible.
  19. Like a lot of others I've had a pretty bad year and winning the flag has lifted my spirits in some of my darker moments. When I get down I throw on the replay and I can't help but smile as it goes on Merry Christmas to you all, I know we can be a bit testy at times but we are all united behind the Dees
  20. I have a few South Africans working for me and the correct way of pronouncing his name in SA is "Fun Royen" Strange but it seems as if the Van becomes Fun.
  21. Even though it's Christmas, I'm not expecting miracles. One for the year is enough.
  22. Just got an email from the club, finally acknowledging that I had ordered stuff from them and telling me that the status of my order had changed and was now shipped. However it also stated that it had no tracking number as yet. I can feel that it's getting closer and I may have it before Christmas
  23. Does Libba think it's his job to remonstrate every time a Melbourne player tackles a Dogs player? Is he the faux tough guy that has to push any opposition player that has fairly brought a teammate of his to the ground. Perhaps if he spent more time getting in to position and less time pushing and shoving he might have been more effective. Jack just gets on with it he cops a wack and just gets up and plays on.
  24. I had a VHS tape of my family's first overseas holiday to Hawaii, I had to lug around this huge camera that held a full size VHS tape, it was something i treasured. Anyway, I had a few of my friends around to watch the football and without me knowing one of these mental giants decided to slip a tape to record the other game being played, guess which one he used.😢
