Exactly. I think that was Nasher's point. He rectified it as his career went on, but people failed to acknowledge it.

It was one of the great Demonland myths.

Surely this isn't a thing?

I always remember when they first introduced the sub, we played Sydney Round 1. Sydney were on top and it came time to trigger the subs, Mark Seaby came on for them, and Ricky Petterd came on for us. We came back and snatched a draw from memory. Never seen a ruckman be the sub since.

Dawes did his job today, no more, no less imo. He is playing further up the ground, so not overly concerned he didn't kick any goals. That should be the baseline for a player of his experience.

Great win. Vince really should be pushing AA this year. Plenty of other positives. I have been a fan of Grimes' year so far, but he was poor today. Also, Michie was also poor when he finally got the opportunity.

Just on that first point, one thing that annoys me that would have the flow on effect of a few less stoppages, is when a player has prior opportunity and they use the boundary as a bit of a safe haven. IMO, if you have had prior and you are tackled over the boundary, it should be holding the ball. Players almost get a free pass to have a crack at taking someone on, and if they get tackled, it is just a throw in. Minor in the grand scheme of things, but just something that has annoyed me for a while.

Lol, who knew Simon Godfrey had such league wide appeal.

Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
Forest Demon replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I find myself agreeing with Nathan Buckley nearly 100% of the time. He is thoughtful, articulates his points well and isn't afraid to tell it as it is. His disdain for Robbo also helps. Roos has been far less impressive IMO all year on 360. Says a lot without actually saying anything most of the time. -
I think you will find you might be in the minority there. He was one of the better of a very bad lot today.

Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
Forest Demon replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Three weeks ago I would have laughed at this thread, but our last three weeks have been as bad as anything since Roos took over. -
Hardly a time for positives, but Grimes has been good. Some of Dawes touches in that quarter were completely laughable. Tyson dinky clanger inside 50 was so lazy and careless it wasn't funny.

Travis Varcoe kicks a beauty. I can't believe I am going to say this as I didn't rate him one bit, but Collingwood are getting the most return from that 3 way trade so far. He has had a very good year.

James Aish is a scarily similar player to Jimmy Toumpas.

Someone needs to explain this debacle. I am a big soccer fan, and although I find it hard to get excited for friendlies, I happily tuned into Real Madrid v Man City over yet another Friday night snooze fest.

I can't see zones being a good idea. The game is complicated as it is, how are you meant to police zones?
-
Interchange is the main issue. I know it seems like following popular opinion, but less interchange means more fatigue, more open play, less numbers at the stoppage, shorter quarters etc etc. Its not so much a rule change, more just enforcing the way the rule was meant to be used in the first place, rather than being abused like it is now.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 17
Forest Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
And I don't agree with Viney about the St Kilda game. We may have had the lead with 40 seconds to go, but we only held the lead for 20 seconds in that whole last quarter and the ball barely left their forward 50. They deserved to win that game more than us. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 17
Forest Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Those Chris Dawes comments send a shiver up my spine. You can just imagine Clarko pinning that article to the change room wall like he did against Essendon, and noting how Melnourne of all teams are expecting to beat us. I am all for being positive, but that's just crazy. -
Has anyone thought to check Richmond's website?

Surely club recruiters are a little bit more with it than some of the buffoons in the media.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
Forest Demon replied to praha's topic in Melbourne Demons
The 2 in a row is a big one for me. So many times we have a win, and it seems to breed some sort of complacency. This is a winnable game, but St Kilda apply a huge amount of pressure, so hopefully we don't go to water. Playing at the G instead of Etihad is a big plus for us as well. -

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Forest Demon replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not to mention, that if he does leave, his trade value plummets massively if he is rotting the season away at Casey
