ArtificialWisdom replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good composure. after repeat turnovers they hold it up and work it around and get a set shot. -

That's why they will pick him. Even if his body isnt quite ready, his attitude is. -
The "Viney can't kick" stigma...fair or unfair?
ArtificialWisdom replied to P-man's topic in Melbourne Demons
Im not so sure it does. There are many an "elite" player who were pretty ordinary kicks. Swan and Judd to name a couple. Yeah its probably stoping him from being the absolute best in the league but he could still be among the elite. All players have weaknesses. some are great kicks but cant win their own ball. Some are great ball winners and users but also are worth less than a witches hat on defence. Jack might be an ordinary kick but whats his next weakness? I suppose he cant ruck -
Now, now its a well known fact that the facts do not apply to these two. All that matters is that if they yell louder then they are right. Kinda like in this thread.

If we beat Saints round 1 I will ...
ArtificialWisdom replied to Bleeds_Red_&_Blue's topic in Melbourne Demons
Im exactly like that tonight. I'm convinced if we beat the eagles we will think we are top [censored] and lose to the saints but if we lose tonight i think we will beat the saints. But of course i want us to win every game so I'm stuck wondering what i actually want to happen tonight. I think im just going to cheer for no injuries -

Vince won a B&F playing entierly as a ball winning tagger. Why they havent kept him doing it I'll never understand -
JLT Round 4, Thursday 9th March - West Coast at Subiaco

I would say that at $1.24 the Swans are strong favourites. at $1.70 i think we are just favourites, but sure hyperbole thats what this thread needs more of -

Im not so sure, looking at the list of matchups i think that the winner of our game might be 9th we are the closest matched sides -
"a whole new thread"? come one we both know there will be 1 with his name and 15 that descend into arguments about him
-
Not really. One of 2 things will happen come round 5ish: 1. Watts is staring and Goodwin is a genius 2. Watts is playing horribly and Goodwin crushed his confidence. I for one hope its option 1

The "Viney can't kick" stigma...fair or unfair?
ArtificialWisdom replied to P-man's topic in Melbourne Demons
Vanders set shot is among the best but on the run he is still pretty bad. A trait the is pretty unique given everyone elses tendancy to get worse in a set shot, And look its a well known fact that Viney will very occasionally butcher the ball but is overall output is far better than that so i dont think we need to complain about it. Although i think the same thing about TMac but he doesnt get nearly as much love despite his good traits also far outwaying his kicking. -
JLT Round 4, Thursday 9th March - West Coast at Subiaco

I like Smith and think he should play this year. But if he isnt ready Garland seems the logical one to play, he is there to be a backup so if Hibbard is out why not use him? I dont like Harmes in the backline though, I think he is much more dangerous as a forward. And his occasional shank isn't such a problem Am I the only person that hates this? He has little to no influence when he plays forward. I understand that he plays well at VFL level in the midfield!! but its frustrating to see him come in and play forward where he stuggles then take him back to the VFL and he goes into the middle again. They need to play him as an inside midfielder or not at all. This is the whole "frost is a forward" thing all over again- 854 replies

I just realised they named more players than us so they will likely drop some of those talls. -

Looking a bit small down back for me. But its a decent team with a few out going up against a full strength (and pretty tall) Eagles. Should be a good test -

If at all possible I'll take both of them -

Yeah i think Viney has the Vanders problem. Seems to slot the difficult ones and miss the easy ones -
I think he means that away game members would get into the "replacement games" anyway.

Melbourne 2017 ladder prediction
ArtificialWisdom replied to Delusional demon 82's topic in Melbourne Demons
Since we are talking ladders here, I've been looking for a ladder predictor where you go through doing all the tipping and it generates a ladder. The AFL has taken theirs down (well i can open the page and see a very nice blank page) does anyone know of another around the place? Makes it a bit easier to place some teams when you actually go through their fixtures -
Fans during the JLT: Melbourne Supporters: North only won their games because it was JLT but look how good we were against the blues and dogs Richmond supporters: Get over yourselves Melbourne its only JLT but look how good we were against Adelaide North supporters: Come on Richmond its a weak Adelaide side in a JLT match but look at what we did to both sydney and hawthorn!! Brisbane supporters: We are just happy to have a win

Best 22 for Round 1, 2017
ArtificialWisdom replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would it surprise you we have never beaten Geelong at Etihad? In the clubs defence we have never played them there -
Toughest midfield in the AFL - David King
ArtificialWisdom replied to Bobby Clark's topic in Melbourne Demons
Im not sure its entirely based on the last 2 games. Its based on the trend. Percentage tends to rise before wins come consitantly. Before the last round disaster our percentage was 103%. Wins come with experience but percentage comes with talent. I dont expect we will jump to top 4 but the numbers suggest we will be improvers. Case and point: in 2015 GWS finshed 11th with 99% (they were also pretty ordinary against us in their last game). Eagles were 9th at 116% the year before then finshed 2nd, same year adelaide we 10th with 114% and played finals the next year. Lets face it, we all knew at some point the hype would come. All we can do is hope they live up to it. -

ArtificialWisdom replied to Bobby Clark's topic in Melbourne Demons
I havent read anything that he said ad he may well be completely mad. But i have to wonder how many on here dissagree with King just because of who he is. I'd love to get a line up of 10 articles all anonymously written and see how many pick King's as the "better". -
Best 22 for Round 1, 2017
ArtificialWisdom replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
I wont argue about jetta's place in the team because he is so much loved around here, but on melksham: I agree that he is a pretty average footballer but I (assume others as well) would be astounded if he wasnt played in the first 5 rounds or so. They put so much into getting him and Hibbard to the club they will be keen to give them both a decent shot at AFL level before picking others ahead of them
