  1. Complicated but its among the best ive seen. What about at the end of rd 17 each club gets a number 18th- 10 17th- 8 16th- 6 15th- 4 14th- 2 13th- 0 then for each win they get in the last 5 + 1 . That way 13th cant get any higher than 4th in the draft. and it forces any team to win 2 more than the team below them to overtake them in the draft. We dont want 13th getting up high in the draft too easily. Edit: Tie breaker would be the original lower ranked team gets the higher pick so if both 18th and 17th finished on 11 then 18th is pick 1 you could even consider using those numbers as "tickets" in a lottery system should they choose to do that. I dont mind the lottery but i know alot of people dont like it.
  2. I love Kent i think he has huge upside and could be a dominant small forawd he is going to be hugely missed if his injury keeps him out of the first few rounds but i dont think he will ever be our best player. The good part is that isnt a knock on him but its just that the mids could be so good But yes i have missed Hunt. And even TMac if he continues to improve his kicking (which despite the flack he cops he is impoving) then i think he could become a/the top shelf CHB in the competition.
  3. My favourite part of this list is there are strong cases for each of Gus, Oliver, CP5, Hogan, Gawn, Tyson and Viney being out best player in the next 5 years. I'd like to see Salem play a full season because he has the skills to get right up this list also. But for now I agree. Gus has the most immediate upside for me.
  4. So its like a "group stage" of the world cup except 1 group everyone moves on with them just jostling for position the next group only the top 2 stay in and in the last group nobody stays in but they all get to play finals because everyone can participate even if they dont deserve to? It almost sounds like a 17 game season with 5 exhibition matches between the season and the finals just to meet that arbitrary 22 game quota Look there are alot of different variants of how the 17-5 system will work. I'll hold off all judgment until the AFL releases their actual plan in detail. But I have serious doubts that it will actually be more "fair". I just see it moving the problems elsewhere. If it hides the problems enough then i supose that makes it a success
  5. With all the horrible issues with the current system i still think its better than the possibility of the side finishing 6th having fewer wins than the one that finishes 7th. Thats assuming that the lock the conferences in the 1-6, 7-12, 13-18 ladder position blocks. If they choose not to do that then 6th has to play 1-5 and 7th plays 8-12 with an open ladder which is even more unfair. I just dont like it at all
  6. Why? I hate the idea because i feel like it just creates new problems rather than solving all the problems. I want them to come out with a solution that makes things better not one that moves the problems elsewhere. There is only 1 truely fair solution and that's everyone plays each other twice. Thats not practical so the next best is everyone plays each other once but that doesnt get the AFL enough $$$ so we are stuck trying to make new fixtures that are just as unfair/impractical as the current one.
  7. I thought the whole idea of this was they want these "conferences" to create better quality games later in the year. In theory is having them play teams around them on the ladder to make the games closer. They want the top team playing 12th, 15th and 18th in the last 5 rounds doesnt really support that. That would result in more blowouts wouldn't it?
  8. From where we have been in the last decade I would almost say just making the finals will just about be a fairy tale
  9. It astounds me that for all everyone hated the sub rule we finally a rid of it and people are now sugesting that we should completly change the sport and have 4-6 subs! I hate the AFL changing rules all the time but this really suits the whole "the fans dont know what they want" argument.
  10. haha yes I was referencing that comment
  11. But we are already the suppository of all wisdom
  12. Having it before a game where neither club has a womens team saves the AFL alot of problems. Say they had said they wanted it before the Melbourne game and it ends up a Bulldogs vs Carlton Grand final. They would be furious that the gate bonuses essentialy goes to a different womans league team. And if they decided to have it before one of their respective games they would also have cause to argue which of them should get it. Taking off your biased melbourne hat for a second and it is pretty clear why they have done it. It is the fairest solution aside from the painfully obvious: Having it the week before round 1. Having it during round one takes all the effort they put into promoting the league and shoves it back into the shadows under the mens. Just seems so stupid to me.
  13. haha few issues with that mate. They have a right to do it. And they are legaly proteced when doing so. No fines, no dissmisal, nothing but the AFL finally getting their shit together and signing the deal. Regardless of what happens the AFL as a business will still make ludicrously large profits compared to what the players will be paid.
  14. Looks more like a midfielder than a key forward with that build
  15. Pendlebury proposing a strike? So he should! If I was handed the expectations to lead that collingwood side to play finals I'd go on strike too!
  16. On that note here is a fun one: https://myactivity.google.com/myactivity?product=29 If you are an android user just log into your google account and that will take you to every single time google has ever recorded your voice. (You may actually need your aluminium foil hat for this) You can also remove the filter and it will tell you everything you have done with that account. It knows what I watch on youtube and the songs i have listened to on spotify. And that on the 13th of November I said "Ok Google find me the nearest KFC".
  17. Technically the club doesnt, Telstra does. Highly likely the club wont ever see any of that information. Hopefully they have the connections to pass on your consern but other than that there isnt much they can do.
  18. Possibly idk I had a look at the detailed descriptions of the apps permitions in the settings and it says the following: Edit: This indicates to me that the way android hands out permissions to the "phone" part of the device is an all or nothing type deal. you either have access to it all or you get none of it. For Samsung users who want to look at this or any other of the permisions an app has its quite a journey to get there: Settings > Applications > Application Manager > Demons (or any app you want) > App Permissions > More > All permissions The above should be the same (or super similar) for any android device but i dont have another on me to confirm. Sorry apple users I cant help at all with that. It will be there somewhere if you're willing to take the time.
  19. Yeah its still set to the 2016 season its like that every year, im not sure why they wait that long but it usually changes around the start of the preseason games.
  20. Important to make clear that they will only be able to see who you are calling not listen (im not sure if thats what you thought but i just want it clear). But I do have to admit I'm not so sure why they need that particularly. Andriod devices just give access to the "phone" part of the device with no real options either way. But my best guess would be so that Telstra can send you advertisements tallored to your call patterns. eg. If you make allot of international calls then expect emails with plans with cheap international calls. I understand your consern but organisations want more customers so are unlikely to risk selling the data they just use it to their advantage in marketing. the best way to protect youself is just be aware of what goes on with hacks and stuff in the media. If your interested in your information's safety a slightly unrelated link try this: https://haveibeenpwned.com/ You enter your email and it checks if that address has been involved in any database hacks. Super usefull for password management especially. It informed me that my username and password were compromised once and as such i changed that password on that site and anywhere else i used it.
  21. They have a privacy policy outlining everything they can do with your data. If you're that concerned you can read it. Most of the time every app request access to everything because it takes away the issue later if they decide to add features. Calendar is literally just so they can sync the fixture to the phone's calendar so that’s pretty obvious. As of yet they haven’t sent a representative to any of my events. With the Location you can turn off the gps on you deceive (they can't turn it on remotely) meaning they will only be able to tell what cell tower you phone is connected to if you’re worried they are going to have you followed. Note about the camera and photos etc that just allows them to access them if they choose to add some kind of photo sharing or social media integration. Phone I think means they can make calls from the app as well and allows for optimisation when a call comes through (programmy stuff which means they can sense a call and prevent the app from crashing, a common in older applications before this practice became regular) Device and app history is really useful in debugging any issues. If the app crashes it will send a report to them so they can work to fix it. I can assure you this is very much needed! You try solving a problem if the only information you have is "It crashed" And contacts means the can add themselves directly from the app. again just conveniences. You don’t have to use the app the mobile site will do the job as well. Fun fact: The app (along with the AFL one) is made by Hawkeye. They have a enquires button in the link below if you want to contact and ask about it http://www.hawkeyeinnovations.co.uk/sports/afl
  22. Interested me that Matty Burgans indicated it was a slightly higher intenisity as to the melbourne sessions. If that is the case i have to wonder if the report is understaing the intensity in QLD or all the others have been overstating intensity of the sessions back home.
  23. Tyson is underrated by many around here. Kelly has some qualities we need and Bontempelli is a freak but Tyson is still among the best we have and still has improvement left in him. I expect if he gets himself right after this knee issue he will be way up near the top of the B&F again.
  24. I was thinking they would have him drop a few to be a little more in the Weiderman mold so that they can be interchangeable in the role. Allows the club to give Weid rests throughout the year without big changes to the forward stucture. (At least going on the assumption that Weid plays most weeks) For all I liked our improvements last year i didnt like that the forwardline structured up so differently each depending on who happened to be playing. All the best teams the players change but the structure stays the same. A lighter more mobile Pedo means he can play any of the Tall forward roles. ith the sudden depth to chose from when it comes to tall forwards I wouldnt think Pedo makes the 22 so they would want him to fill in for whoever is missing. Last year he was only really Hogan's direct replacement and Hogan played almost every week meaning when pedo was in we essentially had 2 CHF in the one side. We saw what a perfect fill in for hogan he was when we played the hawks
  25. I like the way adelaide's forwarline plays with the 4 talls Jenkins, McGovern, Tex and Lynch. Granted neither Garlett or Kent are going to come close to the level of Betts which has a huge influence on their ability to score but I still like the stucture.
