  1. Slightly tangential to what this is meant to be about but given the AFL's widespread set shot issues... Is VDB the only player who is a better set shot than he is in play?. Like there are the Watts' of the world that are good kicks anywhere but everyone else seems to get worse from a setshot while VDB gets so much better.
  2. Yeah fair enough. Bugg has played well (without staring) in both JLT so if anyone of those 22-25th players deserve a go its him.
  3. I was wondering how long this was gonna take to get here. They got it right in the image caption at least XD
  4. I like that team and and also think its very likely. Only thing is I wouldnt be surised if they played J. Smith as the 3rd Tall defender moving Melksham to a mid/def and Bugg misses out. VDB is also very lucky but Garlett's hamstring means he is probably in.
  5. He is a pretty good midfielder. Unfortunatly with the depth of our midfield he doesnt quite get in there. They keep playing him forward but he is not anywhere near as good as a forward. ANB is in the same boat. They are great for midfield depth but I hate when the club play them out of position just to reward them. I'd rather see them play T Smith in the medium forward role than VDB
  6. Did i just hear on SEN that Mitch Hannan had his 2 front teeth knocked out at the session?
  7. I think that he plays because Kent, Kennedy and Garlett are all either injured or only just returning from the rehab group. I still think JKH has more potential than he gets credit for but unless he stars in JLT 3/round 1 I suspect he is out as soon as those guys are back at full fitness
  8. This kid just needs to consistently play, He could be our best midfielder come 2018/19. As hard as viney and he is as skilled as Watts. Need an inside mid?, Salem can do it, Need some foot skills on the outside? Salem can do it. We only have 1 other midfielder who is skilled enough to do that... and he has spent his whole career up untill now at Hawthorn. Give Salem a really good run at it. I still have pretty hopes.
  9. My Round 1 Best 22 (assuming Tyson, Watts and Kent all play against WC in the last JLT) B: J Smith - O.Mac - Hibberd HB: Lewis- T.Mac - Hunt C: Stretch - Viney - Jones HF: Petracca - Hogan - Kent FF: JKH - Weideman - Watts FOLL: Gawn - Salem - Tyson INT: Vince - Brayshaw - Melksham - Oliver J. Smith just beats Frost for a spot. Similarly athletic, Gives the same effort but has a little more natural football ability. Even if he did make alot of mistakes on the weekend. Hibbard comes in and Jetta goes out. Unfortunate for jetta he has been one of our most consistant for a long time but Hibbard is a better ball user and we have needed that for a long time. Yeah ik leaving out Jetta on here is like shooting bambi but I just cant quite see him in the best team anymore. If we play small i suppose i takes Smiths spot but i want to play 2 talls and a biggish 3rd... Midfield is arbritrary where they are in the team they can all play anywhere (except Stretch who is our only genuine linkup player) Melksham is in because i think he will play. however im not convinced he will be in for long... He hasnt done all that much to impress me and I dont really see what he brings when compared to a Harmes, or a Bugg. He might be good but he hasnt done anything special. And obviously JKH is only in until Garlett is fit. 4 weeks he might just be ready but I think we could live without him round 1 just to ensure he is good for the rest of the year. 1 last thing: Can we please start playing AVB as a midfielder again. I understand he is a good mark and a decent set shot but he just isnt a natural forward. Whenever he is around the stoppages he looks good then they move him inside forward 50 and he struggles to have an influence. I understand that he mightn't play in the 1s because of the players ahead of him but if a Jones, Viney, Tyson or Oliver get injured then AVB is the one i want to go in.
  10. Bomber Thompson: "We need to find out what actually happened not just believe whats in the report" Paul Little: "Theres no time for that" [censored] with a chairman with an attitude like that i have no idea why they had any issues.
  11. They burst out of the blocks but after qtr time they were not anywhere near as impressive and really should have lost if port wasn't so bad in front of goal
  12. For all their dominance we had scored more against better opposition at this point in our game...
  13. I was a little worried about round one.... Now I'm really worried. I'm just hoping that this is mostly Port being completely horrible
  14. I would hope that is irrelevant. Jack and DJ shouldn't be competing for the same spot. DJ is competing with Kent, Garlett, BenKen and JKH. Given 3 of them are injured he gets an early opportunity.
  15. I dont think he explained anything. He just said the same vague comment a slightly different way
  16. Just Wags and Jeffy for Hibbs and DJ? Surprised there isnt more rotating, would have liked any of Watts (apparently still with issues?), Pedersen, hulett, T Smith, Keilty and frost to come in for a run. The fact Frost again hasnt been selected makes me think there are more than considering elevating J Smith to play in the backline come round 1... Although does this now leave us with all 3 of Kent, BenKen and Jeffy on or just returning from the injury list not the greatest leadup for our smalls... DJ might even have a chance at a surprise early selection.
  17. In their defence both Jones and Vince also were playing in the backline late . They just had Lewis as the deepest, likely due to his superior kicking ability.. I thought the whole team structured well in the dying stages... The execution was a bit so-so but they scraped away with the win. so thumbs up from me with some handy lessons.
  18. The Family Day After Party?
  19. Just a note: Listening to what Gawn said you could also interpret his meaning to be that we already know that Watts is best 22 and Goody wanted to test the others to see who else could make the cut for the forwardline...Hell maybe there is an injury he was instructed to hide.. we know it wouldn't be the first time. Not saying either of these are the case but Gawn's interview was deliberately vague and ambiguous meaning theres no real way to take anything useful out of it...
  20. You get "Footy Play" not "Fox Footy". Unless they just changed their policys (which i cant find any clear reference to) Fox Play is only availible for tablets/phones not on the Foxtel play app for the PC. That means that they are essentially taking the $89 2016 AFL Live pass added all these channels I didn't really want/need and are charging $520. Thats a roungly 580% price increase... Edit: Definitely still not available on PC https://www.foxtel.com.au/foxtelplay/how-it-works/pc-mac.html
  21. I agree he didnt light up the intraclub but he was laughing and joking with Macca and Goody near the end of the session after he cramped up... Doesnt seem like the thing to do if they were particularly disappointed in his efforts...
  22. I'm really big on JKH i think he can slot in the 22 if he can get a big enough run at it. He just seems to be in the right place at the right time. Kents injury i think gives him the best chance to come in even if he plays mostly on the wing and we have a brayshaw, salem or vince rotate in kent's forward role. I also like alot of what Harmes brings but he was borderline before saturday and didnt do himself any favours with a below average performance... If he wants to grab a spot of an injured player then he needs to play pretty well in the next 2 JLTs They also seem to continue to persist with AVB in the forwardline so they might play him in that role too.
  23. Kennedy has an injury as well doesnt he? Will he also miss?
  24. Crisis averted * nervously wipes sweat from brow *
  25. 5 minutes in I forgot it was a clash strip... I supose thats a good sign.
