  1. And originally that reason was to distinguish a game played on feet to a game played on horseback.
  2. That sign took them 3 seasons to put up because we kept winning Queen's Birthday matches. I'm glad there's a bit of fire there, given our history over them that's hardly surprising. Hard to derail a train that's not even left the station yet though. Oh, and I hate how "pretencious" we are!
  3. Reasons to retain this thread: There aren't 12 others just like it on the boards at the moment (get it?). It's full of constructive criticsm and insightful information that can help shape debate. When we start getting some wins on the board we will easily identify posters who claimed Bailey couldn't cut it and that we have no game plan.
  4. I don't think he should come straight in at all. Give him time to get some touch back after his injury. I'd also rather not witness the 'Watts comes in for Pies (thrashing) clash' again.
  5. For the love of us all - can you just put 'Since Round 1, 2007' in your sig so you don't have to put it in every post you make
  6. Hrm. He also has Riewoldt, Hayes, Goddard, dal Santo, Montagna, Fisher, Milne, Gilbert, Gram and Baker - a large core of quality and experienced players who have played footy for over 5 years. Even so, in his first year the Saints didn't play finals in his first year in charge because his quality and experienced players weren't able to quickly adapt to his style of play. But don't let that get in your way. Bailey has Davey and Green. He sets high standards for our players, they just seem largely incapable of living up to them. His core, experienced players include Miller, Dunn, Bartram, Bell and Johnson. The other most experienced players are under 23 (Bate and Jones), just hitting his straps (Sylvia), in the twilight of their careers (Bruce and Mcdonald) and a ruckman who may have just found that he has straps (Jamar). And how in the world would you know if the players respect him?
  7. Not that I think it matters but I don't think Sylvia had given up the chase at all. Perhaps the MRP viewed that as necessitating the bump - which was high and in my view also a shirt front which I thought had been outlawed. All for bumping in the sheppard but you shouldn't just be an open target. There's another thread on this "our questions will be answered." Perhaps the two should be merged?
  8. I remember when I was younger (11) I wrote to Danners to inform him that we'd lost the two previous games by 180 points combined and that I had a few ideas to help out. The reverend wrote me back and we won the next week on the road against West Coast (more letters people!) If it makes people feel better and isn't just aggressive drivel then I don't see the harm in it.
  9. Has been a top player for the club, especially towards the latter part of the decade. If the players can't step up and put in for Brad I'll be that worried - I'll be livid.
  10. I was responding to this: "For me CJ, better skills and gets more of the footy." If you have a better stat to show that CJ, in fact, doesn't get more of the footy - feel free to share it.
  11. CJ averages 14.5 touches a game over his career. Macdonald averages 16.4. CJ's disposal is also massively overrated.

    Jurrah

    Jurrah's was 16 weeks wasn't it?
  13. This was our thread on the bump at the time.
  14. Just showed the Sylvia bump (if that's what you're referring to). Should've gone for it. Ball was past, Sylvia had no chance to protect himself and it seemed there was an elbow raised. Front on hit to further that (thought the shirt front was outlawed a while ago).
  15. I'm just as confused because, to my knowledge, GC can attack the best players in the league and yet many Melbourne fans feel they will go for Miller or Petterd 'because they're Queenslanders.' Hrm....
  16. We have no one to kick to up forward because there is usually no one there, they've all moved up forward to help get the ball. When we play with confidence, this doesn not happen.
  17. Got Liverpool to win 3-0 last night - probably a better way of going about it.
  18. I heard it in the 'build up' to the Port North game
  19. I'd have got 7 (I never tip against the Dees)
  20. I'd love to see Davey play roaming around the forwardline - unfortunately it seems that he'd be wasted there as it seems impossible to get the ball up there with any regularity.
