  1. The breast cancer awareness match is Round 7 this year Billy, before the Dogs game
  2. Honestly? Saints versus Demons on a traditional Christian day realy means something deep down? On topic, there are 16 teams in the comp, only 2 can play in the opening match of the season. We've had 2007 and 2000 in the last decade - neither drawing over 50,000. They are the only two season openers of the decade (player in Victoria) that failed to do so. Pretty simple why we didn't get the opener - and after Richmond/Carlton's 80,000 odd effort last year it's not hard to see why they did.
  3. To support my stance, Spencer was listed on the bench...(cue Elevation) and the teams haven't been released yet. That's why I thought it. I don't see it as being ridiculous.
  4. Look at the attendance for the last time we held the season opener. That's about all you need to do.
  5. Squads released this arvo. The footy show showed teams bit they seemed completely made up. I noticed on the afl website for the Melbourne Hawthorn preview that Sylvia was listed as 1 week. He could be the difference of he could get up for it.
  6. Final 7 this year Toorak? I'd switch North with Carlton
  7. You said top 100 after you went back and edited your posts about ten minutes ago. Anyway, I've stated my belief
  8. Hopefully that'll boost the crowd
  9. I was talking about previously
  10. I love it - but geez I wish we'd have been better over the time he's been doing it. Spying to get all this info to get done by 10 goals plus makes me sad.
  11. But my issue was with 150, that was my initial contention to which WYL himself said that he stands by. You arguing about that point and moving the goalposts is you misquoting my contention. However, I will take you to task even over you saying you'd struggle to put a Melbourne player in the top 100. That either means you won't do it (i.e. no Melbourne players in the top 100) or you might (you're sitting on the fence and don't want to state your actual position). You claimed you wouldn't put a Melbourne player in the top "20 of Geelong, top 15 of St Kilda or Western Bulldogs, the top 10 of Brisbane and Hawthorn, and the top 5 of Adelaide, Collingwood and Sydney, as well as random players like Pav and Sandilands." I went through some of those teams and stated my opinion, you have not done so. And yes, of course I'm adding to the argument. It's been claimed that none of our players are in the top 150 (100 in your case) to which I disagree. Am I not allowed? My opinion was backed up with analysis, I don't see your problem.
  12. Beers pre-match: 4 Beers during the match: 4 Beers post match: 7 Dees to go down by 26 points unfortunately. I think we're a good thing at the line though. Crowd of 45,716
  13. I wholeheartedly agree and take it back 100%. No idea why I wrote that
  14. I'd bet my life that there will be more than 40,000 but I think 60,000 is a bit of a pipedream.
  15. Care to enlighten me as to what my "recent history shows"? I paraphrased what WYL was getting at and he replied with: So, much of your post about me is superfluous. I'd take Aaron Davey above Andrew Lovett anyday and St Kilda gave a first round pick for Lovett. It's fair to say the Saints would love to have him on board. I'd rate Riewoldt, Montagna, Fisher, Hayes and maybe Goddard ahead of Davey. I'd probably rate dal Santo and Milne as well over Brad Green. That's still possibly 2 Melbourne players in their top 10-15 At Geelong, I'd have Ablett, Chapman, Bartel, Johnson, Ling maybe Corey ahead of Davey and I compeltely disagree that no Melbourne player in the last 3 years would fit into their best 18. None would fit into the top 5 at Sydney? You're joking aren't you? Aside from Goodes and Kirk, Davey and Green could quite easily have wandered onto that team and been in their best players. The crux of what I was originally getting at is to say it's ridiculous to say that no Melbourne players would make the top 150 in the comp. Your run off "top 20 of Geelong, top 15 of St Kilda or Western Bulldogs, the top 10 of Brisbane and Hawthorn, and the top 5 of Adelaide, Collingwood and Sydney, as well as random players like Pav and Sandilands" is incorrect, in my opinion, and is about 60 players short of 150.
  16. You said none of our players would be in the top 100-150 in the comp. Our team winning 12, not 7, does not mean none of our players have been in the top 150 in the comp. That's just unnecessarily beating ourselves up. Pavlich is in the top 10 or so players of the last decade - how'd his team go. I'd suggest considering who you would have on your list before you throw lines like that around.
  17. Rubbish. Name me the top 150 players of the last 3 seasons.
  18. So few rule change proposals would actually, in my view, enhance the game (the only reason you woul change rules anyway)
  19. I see your point E25, but the Hawks only needed a win in Round 22 to make it last year. Leading by 5 points going into the last quarter to be rolled with only two fit players on the interchange bench. It's not like you'd have scripted that pre-season.
