I think atrocious is harsh. He has never become first choice ruck and has spent a career being insurance for Russian, then Gawn. Suited us, suited him. Never good enough to be first ruck, no other strings, but enough of an athlete and competitor to hold on to in the absence of better options. I'm sure if any of our young developing ruckmen showed any possibility of becoming senior footballers he would be thanked for his services.

If Michie is a vanilla midfielder then Green is a vanilla small forward. We won't be picking him up.

I'm not sure that we have a great willingness to devote a bunch of salary cap space to a single player. Those 2 will likely cost more than that. Especially Kelly. I wonder if we are just sitting tight and waiting for our young players to mature rather than make these huge plays. We don't want to lose a Petracca Hunt Oliver or Hogan or two in a couple if years because we sold the farm to get superstar A. Our lack of involvement in these super trades is deliberate now.

Ah. That old chestnut. I will ask you this. If you can't criticise the bad can you appreciate the good? And if so how do you know what good is if you aren't permitted to judge the standard if you haven't been on an afl list? What do you actually do at the football if you won't allow yourself to judge the merits or otherwise of what occurs in front of you?

Massive risk/reward. Could end up the best player in the comp. Could end up a bust.

McKenna a Giant catch for Melbourne "MELBOURNE has recruited Greater Western Sydney’s Pat McKenna to the club. The red and blue gained McKenna and pick No.51 and exchanged picks No.57 and No.59 to the Giants. The 20-year-old – who has signed on with Melbourne for the 2017-18 seasons – was originally drafted by the Giants at pick No.23 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft from Gisborne. He was considered somewhat of a smoky in his draft year, given he was regarded as one of Australia’s best young cricket talents. McKenna captained Australia in the 2014 under 19 world cup in Sri Lanka."

I think the way footy is played now you can't look at each line in isolation. They clearly have more class speed and run. But we have them for grunt.

Hawks and Cats have their arses hanging out at the moment And Buckleywood is going nowhere.

That's precarious for them.

Toby Nankervis to Richmond for 46 is a pretty good deal for the Tigers. 22 year old tall with a bit of ability and upside.

Best 22 for Round 1, 2017
Stretch Johnson replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pre-season form always shows it's bolters and sliders. It is a beautiful thing to have such competition for spots, and puts us in a nice position to do some trading 2017 and beyond. -
Outstanding, he needs to see this.

The young players will fight out the last few spots, but there is no way that Melksham doesn't make the 22. -

We are the ones being the assholes here. He is worth a second round pick this year but for whatever reason we want to do the Harvey Norman 12 months interest free. I don't mind us being the assholes. -
when?
