Coaches - given football lesson

In fairness, they pay great deference to the Number One rule of the AFL. "Rule 1.1. Make it up as you go."

Christian, just a few questions. If you were out on the town, in a restaurant perhaps, would you get so drunk you would abuse someone and then assault them? No. Christian, if drug testers paid you a visit, would you swim across a river to escape them? No. Would you socialise with bikies who were known criminals and murderers? No. If you were with a mate and you were both having amourous relations with two ladies, would you swap partners even if the ladies didn't want to? No. Have you ever been found passed out near a casino? No. If a school girl was hanging around the club, would you "counsel" her in a hotel room wearing only your undies, with drugs present? No. Hmmm ... Look, I'm sorry Christian, but it seems you just don't have the character required to fit in at an AFL football club. We're going to pass on this one. Good luck with your endeavours elsewhere.

He's a lunatic enjoying his last 64 days as a senator.

Hah! Let's hire 'em.

I don't like the Hawks, but who took the risk in setting up in Tassie in the first place? And who rode on their coattails? And who is asking for exclusive access? GAGF. I suppose this will be justified as part of "equalisation".

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 6
Mazer Rackham replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
If we win, it's good player management. We can't play 26 guys. -
One thing that has helped us is the new low-interchange fast flowing style of play. The rolling maul, seagulls fighting over a chip style played for the last few years ... we just weren't very good at it. Whereas Freo were experts at it. That rugby maul style was near unwatchable. God, it was the opposite of entertainment. Even leaving out that we weren't winning. Now it's consigned to the dustbin of history and our players are loving it.

That's what I'm saying too.

It's an Italian name, so (if my Italian is up to snuff) it should be Pe-TRAH-cah. But then Leigh Mon-TAG-na "should be" Mon-TAH-nya. Depends on what the family wants to call themselves. The media and public will end up calling him what they want anyway. REE-wolt "should be" REE-vold, our own David Shworts "should be" Shvarz. Just don't lose any sleep over it.
-
Wouldn't say ordinary. He's had important touches and does the 1%-ers. Good teams don't require everyone to be "on" to win. But bad teams do.
-
The only one who can reasonably be dropped is Brayshaw as his ball handling was fumbly and it looks like he might need a reload in the twos. Anyone else who misses will be because of matchups.
-
Don't be silly. 100 possessions.

Hallelujah to that. I remember a year or two back, after another thumping, KB on the radio said "come on Melbourne fans, call in and tell us how you feel". I wanted to call in and say "we don't feel anything. We're numb." There's nothing like rocking up to the footy, knowing you're a genuine chance to win, with the excitement of not knowing what's actually going to happen. GO DEMONS!!!!
-
Reckon the whole team will be pumped for this. Look out St Kilda!!!!

And the Lord sayeth, Zedekiah thou hast wronged thy brother, but thou art a stout fellow and I can see that thou was simply frustrated. So, three plagues down to two with an early sacrifice. And Buggeth the Accursed ran in unnoticed and did shoveth and taunteth Zedekiah whilst he was paying penance. And there was wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Unsociable football. Love it. Stick it up 'em, Demons. The media are having to re-frame their opinions. They prefer to stick up for the perceived "better" team. By their conventional thinking, MFC, the weaker team, are in the wrong because one of our players showed a bit of ****. That's how Rance can be simply "frustrated". That's how Luke Hodge can nearly paralyse a bloke by shoving him into the goal post, but no probs, no harm done. He's a champion, you see. I look forward to seeing more of the media wet themselves trying to work out what they should be saying and writing about the rising Demons. Meanwhile, on ya, ya little Bugg[er] ! PS. Last one of those we had was a guy called Alistair Clarkson.

Ex umpire Humphrey must have forgotten the kinds of things that happen on football grounds. If he was ever paying attention that is. Ex umpire Humphrey might find refereeing quilting competitions more his cup of tea. Once an umpire ...

He did run too far. 12 steps is well over 15 metres for a bloke of his size. Players run too far every match and are rarely pulled up for it. He was unlucky. But he did run too far.

It's looking grim for every one of those guys. Especially when the FD is happy to get games into Oliver, Stretch, Frost, OMac, Hunt, Harmes and Wagner, in what were crunch games for us. (Three of these are practically best 22 already.) And VdB, ANB, and MJones would be ahead of them in the queue as well.
-
Some of these players who can play, but can't get a game may be attractive trade bait come year's end. If we wanted a gorilla-handling full back for instance. Or another ruckman.
-
We are right now playing well enough to stay on top of all the teams below us. (But of course we have to keep playing this way.) There is already a divide as there is a game and percentage between us and 11th. To crack the top 8 we would have to overtake two teams currently above us. If we assume the top 4 will be North, Hawks, Dogs, Swans (only because that's the current top 4 bar Hawks who I think are better than Cats), that leaves Cats, Eagles, Crows, Suns, Giants. Who might the two be? Suns and Giants? Based on current form. Eg, we already beat GWS and Suns got to play (& beat) Blues and Dons. On the other hand, Lions beat Suns. Only time will tell if our form is good enough to snatch some wins from the really good teams above us. Having played North and nearly pinched it, it seems feasible. But we need to play more of them to find out. And we don't know how our form will be at Etihad, in Perth, Adelaide. To talk finals is getting way ahead of ourselves. We just don't know. Predicting finals this far out is like predicting what the weather is going to be on grand final day. It's just a guess.
-
Well, they did beat us and there's nothing we can do about it. Except use it as a spur to continue our good form, especially if we see other teams whipping them. As others have said, it could end up being a virtue that they beat us. Knocked out any false confidence and forced us to bring the right attitude every week.

Yes, and even better, we're kicking double the scores!
