Consistency ... I saw something about that on Masterchef. If you use a blender your soup will have a much better consistency
-
He will play, and the surest thing of all is that the AFL will do sweet FA about it.
-
Oh, that's a good one!!! I heard a good one about an Irishman, a rabbi, the Pope and Donald Trump but yours is better.

Aw yeah, but did you see the way the guy went down like he'd been shot? Obviously Hogan went for, and hit, a pressure point. We know from past experience that going for a player's pressure point gets you 3 weeks.

Fist or open hand - you be the judge

You're making the natural assumption that the MRP use this thing called "precedent". They wouldn't know precedent if it slapped them in the side of the head, broke their jawbone clean off, and gave them delayed dementia. Their past actions show that precedent means nothing to them. Of all the arms of the AFL, they are the most guilty of making it up as they go. -
That went to the Carlton doc to trick up his medical report.

I've had a hairline fracture of the jaw. I didn't even know I had it for about 3 days. There was no treatment required. It heals itself. A mashed finger (when the ball lands right on the end) is a worse injury. Didn't stop me doing anything ... eating, rooting, shooting ... nothing. As severe injuries go, it's right down there. I hope that didn't factor in to the MRP's coin tosses considered deliberation.

Possible emerging trend after two rounds. First round, quarter time, when it looked like unravelling. Goodwin got them reset and back on the job. Second round, three quarter time. Same thing. Whether mental or gameplan, in previous years once the tone of the day was set, it stayed that way. This is a pleasant new experience. Although I don't want too many games where Goodwin needs to "change the tone".

Reading the match day thread, MFCSS in full flight, even while we were still in the lead. Old habits die hard. For those who advocate not getting ahead of ourselves ... in case that infects the players' thinking! ... try this experiment. Every time you have the impulse to indulge in MFCSS .... don't! Restrain yourself. Stay positive. If you're sure that negative thinking can affect the players, see if it works in reverse. (It won't work, but the effect on yourselves might give you a pleasant surprise.)

Maybe we played like that because the CFC plan was to suffocate us. More polished opposition wouldn't bother trying to flood like that.

Ugly, ugly, ugly. Ugly, ugly, ugly. But a win. What a luxury. "Just another" win. (for those too young to remember -- in the Northey era we won many games like that -- unattractive slogfests with the better team -- us -- winning by a small margin.) Carlton were always going to try to strangle us. It's a tried and true method against us. They will not win many games if they play an ultra flood every week. But they won't -- it was put on specially in our honour. It was a one-day-only special deal of extreme negativity and hoping we would panic. In years gone by, we would have obliged. Their whole plan was based on us failing. But a 5 or 10 minute burst in the 4th showed the difference in class. They were still trying to smother us, and why not, they were in front. It was working. Suddenly we were finding other demons with the ball, when it spilled free we were first to it. We were playing this weird obscure thing ... Football! Put just enough on the scoreboard to snuff them out. Shows how much we have improved from last year. The players were simply not going to let it slip. That's huge. Six goals in a quarter against a flood. Not bad. Salem looked good. Oozing class. That's the Salem that has been waiting to emerge for some time now. Weideman looks better and better. Caught with it too many times. But increasingly showing what he can be. Garlett. Last year got a nasty habit of going for the spectacular but easy option. Now he's working harder and the results show. Brayshaw. I think he may have peaked. Weed, Oscar, Hannan ... They show glimpses of what might be, given more games. That's why they're getting games! Tracc, Clearance used to show that, but they're past that stage; now they're delivering. Brayshaw used to show that too. Not any more. I think he's hit his ceiling. Watts. Made some skill errors that shouldn't be made. Forget the name Watts, a bloke with that many games under his belt should not drop the marks he did. Lewis. Looks a step off it but knows what to do when he gets it. Whether it's quick handpass, short kick, long kick, or let himself be tackled and go to ground to gain time. This will do us more good than just winning a random match. "Just another win", tick. Four points won ugly, tick. Win in arm wrestle -- big big tick. Overcoming bogey oppo who we couldn't buy a win against -- biggest tick of all. Onwards and upwards. GO DEMONS!

If we don't beat Carltank today I will..

Ask Richmond supporters where to get a good deal on microwaves. -
Having brussels sprouts are you?

Problem is, the commentators in their ignorance would make mistakes there too. They have been shown many times to say "oh,how did he miss that!?!?!?" or "what was that for?!?!?!?" only to say after watching the replay "oh, it looks like the umpire was right. Good decision." Having the commentators of all people inflame the baying mob would be counterproductive to better, more consistent umpiring.
-
You could be right. I had simply assumed that surgeons had discovered how to sew a hyena's head onto a human body.
-
Every round, "Press Red for Ed" with outrageously biased commentary, a huge lead to Collingwood that gets reeled in in the last quarter, and the oppo hitting the lead in the last few seconds due to a glaring umpiring error.
-
Is it just me, or are the scum getting an armchair ride from the chumps?

Which has the bigger population and therefore the biggest potential for support and growth? W. Syd. or Canberra? Aussie rules ceded Canberra to league years ago. (A mistake, but it won't get rectified.) It's been said a thousand times but Tassie is already Aussie Rules territory. If you're going to spend serious dollars on expansion, make sure it's into new territory. The AFL will tip money into GWS and GC for a generation or more, until kids come through who have literally grown up with the game. (Supporters more so than players.) It's not a 5 or 10 year thing, it's a 50 year thing. You don't have to like it. But that's the way it is.
-
Now that could get funny. The rumour is, Collingwood will pick up Roos as "football manager" and if/when Buckley stumbles, install him as coach. (Not sure Roos is on board with that idea -- currently it's a Collingwood wet dream.) Now what if the AFL hand picked Roos as the new coach of the Suns AFTER Buckley is sacked and BEFORE Eddie installs him as coach?
-
He's conceded a score in a close match. Isn't that penalty enough? Bull [censored] rule.
-
I do enjoy a well framed TV shot of Eddie doing his nut.
-
That means, it will be bone dry ... except possibly in the Bermuda Triangle of weather, ie the Mt Waverley area. If it rains anywhere at all it will rain there.
-
Fair points but ... 1. Everything IS Jacks Watts' fault. Just ask any supporter of any other club. He transcends MFCSS. 2. "OMG" is the correct reaction upon hearing or seeing the words "Mark Neeld" in any context. MFCSS notwithstanding.
-
So now you know what is MFCSS ... but how does it work? Example. We could be leading at half time by 15 goals to 1. After half time ... if Carlton get the first inside 50 ... cue the comments: Here we go! Carlton by 187! Jesse Hogan is not up to AFL standard! I knew this would happen! Why does this always happen to us? I have always known Mitch Hannan was hopeless. I have been saying this since 1975. We should never again pick Nathan Jones. Never!!!!! Goodwin has no plan B. Sack him before the 3/4 time break! I blame Cameron Schwab, Gabriel Szondy, Joe Gutnick, Paul McNamee, Adrian Anderson and Dennis Jones! That's MFCSS. (Trace elements were detectable in the first quarter against St K)

I think it's pretty well understood that the real old dee was kidnapped and is locked in a trunk in some psychopath's basement. Who this new optimistic "old dee" is, no one knows, but he loves Melbourne so we'll have him.
