  1. How about an ombudsman and a royal commission too? Dunn, and it was good to see, would have been highly motivated to show his coach that he's best 22. But let's see him actually hold down that spot before condemning anyone to death.
  2. It's a good rule, which is clearly why it hasn't been adopted by Gil and his gang.
  3. The only thing uglier would be if Goddard and Mav Weller both watched it go out together. That would be a Bermuda Triangle of ugly. Don't go near!!
  4. It could blow up in Port's face big time. They realised all too late the issue of the jumper colours. They completely blew it. I don't know how many Chinese are genuinely interested in this game and how many are using it as leverage to do business in Australia. But GCS could easily end up as the crowd darlings and Gil will have no hesitation in making them "the Chinese club" each year, with Port out in the cold, if it means more $$$ for the AFL. On the surface, Port have paid GCS to move their home game. It may transpire that in fact they have paid them to reap the benefits of playing in China! I suspect this may have dawned on Kochie and that is why he kicked up a fuss over the jumpers. And Gil revealed his hand in saying "tough bikkies Dave".
  5. So they can bring in some Chinese money and once and for all crush rugby league and soccer. It does seem peripheral and of dubious value until you realise that only 1/1,000,000th of a percent of Chinese money will buy every sporting club in Australia 6 times over.
  6. I imagine most people in the crowd would simply lean on the button permanently to extract many years' worth of revenge.
  7. Sounds a bit too straightforward for the big league. Can't we put some kind of ... interpretation on it?
  8. Dom seems to be a slow starter after injury/interrupted preseason. Takes him some weeks to ramp up to his best. But when he's there, he stays there. Keep playing him.
  9. Spot the common element between ... Chris Judd Gary Ablett (junior version) Buddy Franklin I'll make it easy for you! All gun players recruited at great cost to be the star flag winning figurehead. None of those clubs have jagged a flag (yet) Those players have or are about to cause salary cap and list issues. (Suns not so much as they have a leg up from the AFL.) It looks like a giant Easter Egg at first. Very tempting. But it could turn out to be a giant hand grenade.
  10. Tom Fogerty David Knopfler Bobby Kennedy Gary Whitlam Jeff Churchill Chad Rasputin Duane Bonaparte Tim Shakespeare Roger Caesar
  11. You've paid your money, can you just shut up and watch? Gil's You've never had it so good.
  12. Who was his brother? Epic? Legendary?
  13. Some good news at last. It appears that the real old dee has escaped and has returned to demonland. Welcome back, od.
  14. And Chris Judd barracked for Melbourne. And we could have had Buddy. And, and, and ... If you don't stop it, you'll go blind.
  15. "YELLOW AND ......... um .......... um .... YELLOW AND ........ ummm .... chooka, do youse know what we're supposed ta shout?" "I fink it's a colour?" "Don't be shtoopid. It's somefink to do with our jumper." "Oh I know! YELLOW AND BINGLE! YELLOW AND BINGLE!"
  16. Yes, that's pretty much it. Good summary.
  17. All I know is, I didn't see Dicky or Ricky directing traffic after that [censored] mowed down all those people in Bourke St. In fact, I don't think they even tried.
  18. Don't forget Lavinia!
  19. That what is meant when people say "the sleeping giant has woken" ...... the giant sense of entitlement.
  20. The Nixons of this world can get away with a lot of objectionable behavior while they're on top, but once the bubble is burst, there's no coming back. Their base character is exposed to the world. We may be about to see another example with John Coates.
  21. Funny how Eddie, heart and soul of the AFL, the light that shines in darkness, has refused for years to share with other clubs the benefits of playing on ANZAC day, but now that other clubs are involved, he's prepared to share the detriments. What a great guy!
  22. "Vitamins", you mean. Also, they go off-site for the really good stuff.
  23. One more for the ledger. We wanted a "traditional Melbourne-Sydney rivalry" game to build on the old "bleak city"/"best thing to come out of Melbourne is the road to Sydney" stuff. Tried it for a year or two ... unfortunately we were too far down the ladder for anyone to take notice ... except for Eddie ... he said "we'll have that" and the AFL said "yes Eddie" as they were so accustomed to doing. On your larger point. the AFL is a corrupt organisation with a warped way of running the comp, and have little integrity. I think for many of us, only a lifetime of foolishly invested nervous energy into the MFC keeps us coming back.
  24. This. The AFL might care to push us around and get another club in there but they will find it increasingly hard to do that to Richmond. And if Richmond are bed with us on this then they should support our cause. Nonetheless it would be just like the AFL to say on one hand "don't complain about ANZAC day, make your own marquee games" and then take it off clubs doing exactly that.
  25. "Rucking Pedersen" ? That's what Goodwin says every week at the selection meeting.
