The Fitzroy (Brisbane Lions) team of the century poster is a beauty, set against the backdrop of the old Brunswick Oval grandstand, with Butch, Murray, Bunton, Quinlan, some bloke called Roos.

OK but can we play him at half back for that rebound out of defence? -

It's a shame picket hasn't heard about your football prowess OD. He could have made a recommendation to the match committee. -

It was the coaches who whinged and moaned about in-game injuries harming their chances of winning. They wanted to be able to replace an injured player. Stupid, they said, not to be allowed to. Huge disadvantage. Unfair. Enter the sub rule. Then the coaches whinged because their rotations were limited. Stupid, they said. Why have we got a player in a green vest just sitting there? Unfair. Exit the sub rule. Bottom line, the coaches don't know what they want, but they know they don't like it. They are the last people on earth who should be listened to with regard to rule changes.

Must have been a hell of a club. Did it have "Welcome to Jamaica, have a nice day" tattooed on it? Your "old" club? What happened to it? Surgery?

Rupert's cohorts gambled on a pies win, with their fans buying thousands of copies to fap over. Happy fapping, pies fans!

Can anyone shed further light on this important matter? I think it's because they are scum and trash, unworthy, deceitful, of low character, and unnatural, detested, brutish villains. Not much connection with "blue" or "bags" but it's good enough explanation for me. For those who demand more, try the last two posts in .... this: (holds URL at arms length between two fingers while holding nose) http://www.talkingcarlton.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14764&sid=3ec3803a194e7c9f69dc0cbab85470d0&start=20

I looked into my crystal ball and asked it "who might the AFL favour in this instance?" And, being a mystical artifact, it gave a cryptic answer requiring much meditation and lateral thinking: (*deep spooky voice here*) "follow the money."

Rule change may be to our huge disadvantage
Mazer Rackham replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
Keeps the role of ruckman. Retains throw ins. Umps don't have to be mind readers. Umps don't have to "interpret" anything. This is so simple and logical that only the AFL could [censored] it up by ignoring it. (And more likely, by going straight to strict "last touch".) -

I don't get the AwFuL's strange obsession with OOB and rushed behinds which were never that big a deal. And they introduce other things, like the 5 metre protected zone (now 10m?) without ever really enforcing it. Fiddling on the edges. Meanwhile ... they allow rampant throwing, acting as if they can't do anything about it. "What if we accidentally penalised a legit handball?" -- hasn't stopped them with the OOB policing. Pay a few throwing frees for marginal handballs and in one week, the players will be executing clinical handballs right out of a coaching manual. And they seem to have torn holding the ball out of the rule book. Watched some Blues/Pies and Dogs/Tiges and for each paid HTB free, there must have 5 let go where players simply drop it or place it on the ground. You mean Channel 7 and Fox? But they do!!! -

It's the subtle signs you have to look for. The way he makes little horns with his fingers on his temples. The fake pitchfork he likes to pretend to throw at the CFC cheer squad after each oppo goal. The way he put AHG on his jumper and removed the back of jumper sponsor logo. The way he turns his back when his teammates sing the club song and instead sings "should auld acquaintance be forgot" over and over. It all adds up to the trained eye when it's in "clusters" like that.

Maybe it works the other way ... some Geelong supporters can possibly be as clever, insightful and handsome as Melbourne supporters. Boyd ... as W45 said, paid like a big fish without being one.

Cast your mind back. How many clubs have landed a big fish and gone on to win a flag with them? Plugger: no Judd: no Buddy not yet etc ... Anyone .... ? I reckon you'd have to go back to the 70s and 80s when clubs wholesale raided the WAFL and SAFL for their stars. Blight, Glendinning, Kernahan, etc. Now consider how many clubs have landed big fish and haven't gone on to win any more than they already were. There are plenty more of those, by far.

I learned the other day that in TAC cup (under 18 comp), tagging is not permitted. To allow a free flowing fast moving game. I assume that is intended to progress naturally to the top level. Another artificial manipulation to the way the game is played. By the suits who are its custodians, not its owners. Was this game not inherently entertaining for the last 150 years? Isn't that why the crowds are big and have been for years and years? Why this constant need to fiddle with the game to make it "more entertaining"? They've lost the plot.

Being 10 goals up at 3/4 time against GWS, and then Scully gets 25 possies in the last, kicks 8, breaks Tracc's leg, gives Clearance an ACL, and gives Max religion who then retires. (and GWS win)
