  1. Given the lack of under age footy both last year and this, the draft is fast becoming a chook lotto with respect to under age talent. I can fully understand holding in to known depth that is ready to go if needed versus a kid you haven’t seen play anywhere near enough to take a punt on.
  2. We’ve conceded the fewest points across the whole league this season. It already is a backline to remember.
  3. Don’t pay the Perryman. Don’t even fix a price.
  4. This one's easy. They all played for Melbourne.
  5. I'd have happily accepted posts from 10 years ago stating "Out - Melbourne, In - Casey" this week, given the last couple of weeks' travel burden and potential for the pre-finals bye to be abandoned; but Goody is a man of his word when it comes to not flirting with form and picking his best 22 every week so I don't expect wholesale changes. I wouldn't be surprised if he gives Vanders another run given Monday night wasn't ideal conditions for first game back for a long while, and will give him a second crack to prove himself. Hibbo for Hunty, that's it for me.
  6. Warms the cockles of your heart, doesn't it.
  7. If Jack Viney got rubbed out because his action wasn't a good look for the game, how does this "look" any different?
  8. I blame Dave Misson
  9. Maybe the AFL asked him what his dream last game to umpire might be and temporarily forgot there might be an issue. I reckon he might just blow the pea right out of the whistle this weekend.
  10. A fine career finding fault with Melbourne FC is now coming to a close. https://www.afl.com.au/news/662950/statement-afl-umpire-dean-margetts-announces-retirement
  11. Had both my jabs, have a GF guarantee membership and happy to turn up to watch wherever it’s played. im not missing out on our best shot in ages for anything. it’s about time the authorities consider those fully vaccinated being allowed entry into these events.
  12. And correct me if I'm wrong, but did he try and take ANOTHER hanger in the first quarter? I wonder who between he and Kossie is going to pull down the first absolute screamer. Good to watch.
  13. That was the best game I've seen Harmes play in a long, long time. Loved his effort. And agree with all on Bowey. What a ripper.
  14. I don't think anybody had a sense of humour that day LFS. If it was me, I would have posted it out of pure hatred.
  15. At some point, Christian should plant a stake in the ground and send this to the Tribunal as a non football action that is not a good look for the game = Serious Misconduct, same as Viney. Let the Tribunal decide an outcome in terms of weeks out of the game to send a real message. Clasifying this in the Striking, High Contact, Low Impact basket for a fine over and over again isn't deterring the action by this serial offender. It can't be argued that Selwood, with elbow raised, had any other thought than to run through the Giants player who had his head over the ball and wasn't protected. The MRO classifcation rules aren't protecting his opponents and someone is going to end up in a wheelchair at some point. Giving a multiple weeks' suspension decision (high impact) at that point is too little, too late.
  16. That's gold Ethan. Lovely gesture. I hope both your tickets are in the WC Cheer Squad and you absolutely give it to them. I also hope you stay dry.
  17. If you can throw in a return flight to Melbourne then I’m interested.
  18. I’m just sick of always playing them in Perth, same as I’m always sick of playing Geelong away. Hopefully we get up and the AFL give us the Sunday graveyard time slot next week to recover (I guess next weeks game will have to be Sunday as a 5 day break is banned by AFLPA).
  19. It’s pretty eady if you live by 3 simple rules: 1. Be nice to each other 2. take care of each other 3. even umpires are human and can get it wrong, have sympathy I reckon 1&2 are easier than 3.
  20. It’s a fair bet they’re related as they both have a dad that played in the 1939 reserves side for the Dees.
  21. What I like about the Rivers/Salem options being proposed above is that they are great kicks when they receive the ball under immediate heat, meaning we're more likely to see a kick to our resultant advantage in the forward line. What I don't like about this option is that our backline is highly functioning and really settled; and I'd like to keep it this way.
  22. Wow. First and second for inside 50 tackles in the league. That's our DNA right there.
  23. Was Dangerfield just as vocal with respect to Selwood's eye gouging? #lookafteryourmates
  24. Thanks for posting the article @Engorged Onion, good read. I particularly liked the cheeky comment at the bottom!
  25. Found this summary of our 1955 Premiership team by Norm Smith on the eve of the 1956 season an interesting parallel to the team we have today. https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/71795593
