  1. Having been born in 1945 I grew up in a very different country my wider family and their friends either served in the military or had family and friends that had and knew people who were killed wounded or captured by the enemy. We fought the Germans and Italians in the desert, the Germans over Europe and the Japanese in Malaya, Singapore, New Guinea and Indonesia. There was a lot of prejudice and hate towards the Krauts, Eyeties Nips and Koreans. Whereas the Greeks, Free French, Chinese, Russians, Poms and Yanks were our allies. My father-in-law served 3.5 years as a prisoner of the Japanese in Changi, Burma Railway and in Japan working in a coal mine not far from Nagasaki and held the Japanese in the lowest contempt. As a country I have witnessed a huge turn around in how we treat and think about people and our differences but sadly we still have a long way to go but I have confidence in my children and grandchildren to continue to improve this country that we live in.
  2. Or extreme pressure all across the ground and grind them relentlessly ala 2021 and hurt them on the turn over and of course by kicking straight.!!
  3. An excellent but aging group, always hard to beat particularly down at the Cattery, we have to aim to emulate their longevity and long term success. May we put them to the sword in 2023 and beyond.!!!
  4. Agree dj thanks Kev and all posters this is the time of year when we can see the potential in all our draftee’s and hope that they all succeed whilst knowing just how hard it is going to be for each and everyone of them to reach the pinnacle. Love the training reports please keep up the great work.!!!!
  5. Me too SotD. Feeling very happy about these two.!!
  6. Thanks LD-vic, summed up my feelings about Demonland perfectly, the content provided by Demonland and platform facilitate so much informative, humorous and varied opinions that I find myself drawn to this site far more than my better half would like. Anything worth knowing about the Dees and footy in general I find here. Thanks Demonland.!!!
  7. True JimmyG but keep in mind that Jeffo starred against players in his own age group so our dieticians and fitness staff will be working overtime to build up Jefferson, Addams, Verral and Kyah and top up Rooey for 2023. These boys are out future but you can’t put limitations on them either.
  8. Pies have a very good list.😪
  9. It’s funny saying this but I tend to study people pretty closely body language, expression how they interact with teammates, coaches and the enemy. I look at Bowey, Spargs, Sparrow and JVR they all ooze confidence and know they belong whereas I look at Laurie and to a lesser degree Jordon and they look less at home. They both need to step it up a lot, talk more catch the coaches eye be a bit more daring.!!!
  10. I will really miss Gibby he added to our clubs family and human flavour I looked forward to his Gus and Gawny and after game segments with the players. It takes a lot of effort and good work to build that strong rapport with a playing group and supporters. It’s a bit like losing a friend.!!
  11. Good luck Fraser Rosman make every post a winner at Port.!!!
  12. Agree wwsw they have too much talent to miss the finals again, they pose a real threat to the competition and will shake up the top eight.!!
  13. Me to layzie I love it when we unashamedly take a Smokey that no one has heard off.!!!
  14. That is a lovely shot of Oliver and his mum and as someone already mentioned he could become an MFC folklore legend.!!!
  15. Well done Kade Chandler and MFC. I love this kid, he has speed, talent and desire to win I also hope that he gets a good crack at it. He did play a pearler in the Casey Granny.!!!
  16. I am really warming to Brodie Grundy his responses to Matt Jefferson and now Will Verral are very encouraging.!!
  17. And don’t forget Darren Jolley played in a granny with Swans.!!
  18. Thanks Willy I appreciate those stats I imagine that all tallish recruits are put on specialist diets and a rigorous strengthening regime to help them get the most out of their opportunities. It will be interesting to see how Jefferson, Adams, Verral and Kyah progress over the next 12-18 months.!!
  19. Another fabulous effort thanks LH. We filled the necessary holes in the list, can’t wait for 2023.!!!
  20. Welcome to the mighty Dees Oliver Seston a real surprise packet from JT this one, just shows that players can still fall between the cracks leading up to AFL. Glad that you fell our way a great story, who kicks 24 goals?? 186cm power forward if you are good enough could fill a niche role for us but will enjoy watching your exploits at Casey in any case. Good luck.!!!
  21. Welcome to MFC Will Verral future forward/ruckman, some impressive highlights and MVP’s. Good height and weight for an 18 yo, 200cm, 95kg. Looking forward to watching you develop with Kyah, under the tutelage of Max and Brodie. Personally I can now relax knowing that we have now nailed the areas of greatest weakness on the list. Thanks JT and TL what a remarkable Draft and Trade period your team have pulled off.
  22. Welcome to the Dees Jed Adam’s, to me Adams appears a bit more mature than MJ and he mentioned that he had played ruck/forward as well. Looks like a great pickup by the recruiters. Feeling much better about the composition of our list now, just like another young ruck then go hard at the mids, flankers next year.
  23. Thanks wwsw, hopefully once May, Lever, Petty and Turner get around him he will become a fully fledged Dee.!!!
