  1. It’s criminal that somehow Brayshaw received more votes than Oliver. But we all know the umpires are the ones that award the votes, and they are heavily guided by the stat sheet. I didn’t say he had a bad season, but FMD he didn’t have the 3rd best season of any player in 2018. He would barely make the top-25.
  2. I wish people were a bit smarter about how much weight they attributed to this supposed achievement.
  3. Interesting comment, because I recall Collingwood being extremely interested in Steven May until it became clear he was determined to play for us. There would have been competition for Lever too, if there was ever a question over where he wanted to go. I’d say if anything our recruitment is targeted rather than scattershot, and there’s a healthy dose of media speculation with the big name recruits, and (shock horror) the speculation involves clubs with large supporter bases. You’d almost think that it was based around maximising the click rate...
  4. Been calling for it for years, just can’t see it happening now though. We’d be stupid not to, if it was at all possible.
  5. Which is why splitting pick 2 is prudent.
  6. “Lord Nev”, no? Or at least implied it.
  7. If he honestly wants out, and is not willing to accept his own responsibility for his performance, then is it not prudent? Also, you’d be ignoring the fact that he received the majority of those as a result of Oliver’s hard work yet the umpires are not fit to recognise this.
  8. I wonder where this little rumour originated...
  9. First time I’ve read this thread. Interesting if there’s any truth to it, and it wouldn’t surprise me. I know that he was dropped for the first 3 rounds last year to give him a rocket for being lazy, and it worked. And now this year the coaches have been getting frustrated with him again, because everything is always someone else’s fault with Angus. One day it will probably click and he’ll be a gun. Do we hang on? I don’t really care, as long as we get a fair return of he leaves. That would mean Cerra & Langdon in my opinion, maybe a bit more going to Freo. Pick 6 would be ok, but I’d rather a kid with a few years development in him. Would help spread our age profile too. I’m leaning towards making a move, as I think we need a bit of change, but he’ll need to be the agitator.
  10. Trading 26 for Lewis Taylor? How does a straight swap for pick 78 sound?
  11. We’ll want more than just 12 & 14 for 3 though. They’re about equal value, but to GWS the earlier pick is worth so much more because it allows them to get another top echelon player before they have to use their points on Green. Bonar, O’Halloran, Caldwell, Hately, etc. - there will be someone we’re keen on that GWS will seem expendable.
  12. I think he says that because he thinks we’re applying for a priority pick, or at least wants us to think that.
  13. Would be happier with 12, 14 and Langdon for a pick in the 20s.
  14. Barrett knows exactly what he's doing. He & Hutchy have a podcast called The Sounding Board where they discuss the media in-depth. It can be quite insightful at times. He's obviously teasing out a story where there isn't one beyond the basic "poor season" narrative, and it'll evolve into something that he can use later on. Now he just sits back and eat popcorn.
  15. I think it won't be a case of "how much trouble we're in" but rather a case of "how much money we're asking for." We'd have been asking for a few truckloads of cash to build a new training facility, and our presentation would have surrounded how sorely that is needed. Every single other club in the league has managed to over time acquire a training facility that they have full control over, and we're the only one who is a tenant in a shared facility, with offices spread across another venue 5 mins away. It's a diabolical situation, and I think a large cause for it is our supporters' stubborn insistence that we should remain based at or near the G and basic snobbishness. Anyway, to compete and thrive, we need to have our own. And it's going to cost the AFL dearly for having ignored the need for so long. Us too, but we're expecting it.
  16. "Up to" also indicates the speaker to be clearly exaggerating any supposed knowledge.
  17. Hahaha ahhhh no. Sorry mate, but that’s exactly who they’d take at 2.
  18. Slim to none. He wants to leave, but stay in QLD. Ridiculous.
  19. I’d say the recent rumours that we’re close to re-signing Frost would indicate that we’re welll behind the dogs in the chase for Keath. I think we’ve been chasing Keath with an eye to cutting Frosty loose.
  20. I reckon LH was going for dyed-in-the-wool
  21. Only if I identify the coach, who went on to sell frozen water.
  22. His coach stole his girlfriend?
  23. I'd hazard a guess that it indicates a few different things: - we're not that fussed about the quality of the draft as it progresses (you could throw a blanket over the top 10-20 after the first couple) - we'll have plenty of list spots to fill, as opposed to just taking the minimum 3 picks - we're targetting GWS' picks in the teens, and are aware of the value of an early selection to them with Tom Green as a likely top 5-10 academy selection - I'd still be gunning for them to throw in a Xavier O'Halloran along with 11 & 13 - We need picks/assets to facilitate the planned moves we have in store
