Open training miscommunication - another MFC unforced error
dazzledavey36 replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Like the intra club another opportunity gone out the window. Dont spruik on some Nathan Jones advertisement about getting 35k before round one when you cant even get the basic most simplest thing done. Get ya [censored] sorted MFC! -
Day is set to resume through the twos this weekend but not sure about Dixon

Shocking effort by the club. While the club will say it has improved off field this is by far the biggest downfall in the way it interacts with its supporter base. First the intra club and now this. Not good enough from a professional organization. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - AARON VANDENBERG
dazzledavey36 replied to The Red Fox's topic in Melbourne Demons
Here is a true story for you.One night Chris Connelly was at a shepp footy club doing a function when one of the coaches told him to come down and have a look at a kid called Michael Barlow. Raved on about him and even put forward the idea that maybe atleast Casey should sign him up so they get a proper look. Chris watched him train one night and put a line through his name and didn't want a bar of it. The rest is history. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - AARON VANDENBERG
dazzledavey36 replied to The Red Fox's topic in Melbourne Demons
While Vanders is listed as 188cm i too thought he looked alot taller. I wouldn't be surprised if his actual height is about 191. Big boy indeed. -
LT absolutely spot on. I too witnessed him going in hard and laying some strong tackles. It does make me wonder though if its possible the club start giving him spells as an on baller? In his under 18s championship year he was playing as an onballer starting in the center and thats where i saw a hard running player who was linking up beautifully around the ground and just racking up big numbers of the ball including a 36 disposal game against one of them that i cant remembered. Since we have drafted him he has played majority of his time as a half forward where i think he is wasted. I look at someone like a James Aish and Leppa isn't afraid to throw him in the center and let him work into it. i also did mentioned that Toumpas was very stiff last year to get dropped when Salem was struggling himself and not getting alot of the ball. Again i thought he struggled against Freo. I think the coaching staff need to leave toumpas in the side for about 6 weeks and just back him in and let him have a good run at it. He will get great confidence in him and i trully think he can become a great player for us.

Cheers Doggies.

Why Vandenberg? Still young and potentially could get about 6 to 8 years service out of him if he continues to develop well.

Watched the reply and thought id comment on these two. Newton: Very impressive! His kicking and inside work is something im looking forward to this year and he is already in our best 22. He would have easily had 20 plus possession against freo if he played a full game. Said before i wouldn't be surprised if he had a Dom Tyson/Anthony Miles like year where he takes the competition by storm. Adding him to an already growing midfield of Jones Tyson Viney Vince Brayshaw Toumpas Salem will only make us better. Michie: Was our leading tackler for our team with 7 so just shows he does alot of grunt work that some didn't notice including me so its good to see he is improving his defensive efforts as that was one weakness in his game. I would much rather him playing in the side then a Grimes Jones or Mckenzie.. still think he has alot to offer and i will continue to watch with great interest over the NAB challangen to see how he goes.

Training - Wednesday 4th March, 2015 @ Fremantle Oval

So Frost not starting in the backline cost us the game basically?Laughable. It wasn't the fact we also had 4 shots at goal in a row in the last term and did not score at all was it? Or our more senior players like Grimes and Garland continue to make costly mistakes that results in goal. -
Not in my best 22 atm until he wins more of the ball. We drafted him as a midfielder and he has had a fully fit pre season so why not push him up to a wing.

This is what happens when you think you know the inner gist of the club Saty and completely shoot down someone that is just putting a opinion forward.Answer: You look like a fool especially when Frost played first half as a key forward. -
Toumpas was the 3rd leading tackler for the Dees with 5. I saw him go in hard and lay a couple of good tackles. Still waiting for Jack Watts to do that. Anyway i still have the faith we can still develop him into a good player for us. Its not like he is a Morton Blease Watts that just goes through the emotions, I did see him putting in the hard yards and running hard to provide an option. he will come good.

What
-
Probably because he does alot of gut running that we don't see on tv. His fitness is fine and is top notch. Nothing wrong with it
-
Note to all supporters. Never get emotionally attached to AFL players..

One of the big positive for me was the way Hogan crashed the pack which created a spill and a goal to Kent. I haven't seen that since the David Neitz era where he would do this every game.. If thats what we have install for us this year i am going to enjoy seeing the like of JKH Kent and Garlet feed off him. Im calling it now but i think Newton will have a Anthony Miles/Dom Tyson like year this year. Just his class and inside work was fantastic. Add him to an already impressive midfield in Jones,Tyson,Viney,Vince and he will go alright.
