  1. When is Hogans contract due? As this will be another distraction he will have to deal with. The media starting the "is he staying or going back west " debate and pressure.
  2. Yes so many positives to look forward to, none more then Hogan signing a contract extension before the season starts. If not he and the club will be back under that media pressure of "is he isn't he" staying or going back to Perth? If he is committed and wants to have a clear run in 2018 then he needs to get rid of this distraction/pressure asap.
  3. Good point which is worth looking at. I would also like to see us create a position on the coaching panel of either a current senior umpire( so head hunt them)or a recently retired senior umpire. Their role would be to watch and provide feedback to players and other coaches during match simulation so that next year we reduce by a min of 15% the number of free we give away. Given we missed this years finals by the % of two goals, this would all add to our ability to get into the eight and maybe top four next year. I don't have the stats but I would say we give the opposition at least three goal a game from free kicks. Also having one if their own white maggots on our side might give us a better chance of getting more 50/50 decisions our way?
  4. It's the supporters in the stand that the club had been working so hard to get back to the games (record membership record attendance)It's the supporters who buy from the sponsors who also the club has been working hard to get onboard. We are loosing AHG next year as a major sponsor and the club need games like yesterday to be wins and also needs the team to play finals so they can get a replacement for AHG. So no we in the stands don't hurt the same as the players but I didnt see to many Melbourne supporters leaving the G yesterday joking about the game they had just watched. But the fact is yesterday's unacceptable effort has hurt everyone. As fans all we can do is buy a membership, show up and support, buy from the sponsors who support the club etc. As players when they can win games, lay tackles, hit up team mates etc. at an AFL standard , then they can go and be clowns In the media.
  5. Gawn is starting to look like a "clown" and not in a positive why. Should concentrate on getting back to playing good football and leave the media jigs to others.
  6. Not happy to see these two on the footy shows laughing and joking about the game. No wonder the players are so mentally soft! Two of the leaders making light of what was a very poor performance.
  7. Fully agree. It's just unacceptable!! The players need to be told and not have so many supporters saying " it's ok"" your a young team, you will be better next year. You have to take your opportunities when they are right in front of you. A win yesterday and we know we are playing finals. Because they lost who knows how many of the players are looking forward to Mad Monday, and will be under prepared if we do have to play next week. Personally I hope we don't make it now as it looks like if we do it will be against the Swans. They will slaughter us up there. It could be a scare that stays with the younger players that will see us go backwards for the next few years. Better to finish on yesterday's game and come back and work even harder pre season and go hard next year.
  8. No but we lost again against a side that we should beat. So even a one point loss should be unacceptable. We can no longer accept performances like that. They have over 8 of their best players out today. We had one of our strongest teams in on paper. We played very dumb football and don't deserve to play finals.
  9. Also for Tom he is a big strong bloke (Tarzan) but for the last three or so weeks he has played like Jane! He lets the opposition players just run past with only a token effort to stop them and I can't remember the last time he shepherded for a team mate. If we can get something for him trade him and his bother please.
  10. Replace against all players except the MacBoys- Butchered the Ball Against the Mac boys- Very Dumb Footballer.
  11. Please trade the Mac boys please please they are bloody hopeless. I don't want to see them in the red and blue again.
  12. He has been worked out by the opposition that he hasn't got a big engine. Very good in the first half but drops off in the second half. So they now run him around early and then they get to run off him in the later part of the game. Club have told him but he isn't doing the extra work.
  13. Simple answer for the AFL to min this type of discussion would be that at the start of the year teams of umpires are put together and umpire together for the whole session. This would include boundary goal emergency and the video ump. They would train together umpire together and if one of them has a shocker they all go back to the country. This way they would get to know each other and then there would be more consistent with their decisions. Also they would pull each other into line if a bad decision was made because none of them would want to get sent to the bush the following week. Teams only get better the more they train and play together so why should it be any different for the umps?
  14. Drove past Gosch's this morning at 9.50 am and Jesse was out there with some trainers doing over head marking and marking off the pads( like they do at quarter time home games). Looked ok, no signs of discomfort. Might see him in the last game against the filth.
  15. Maybe because the train at Cadey Ground where the first should have been trading prior to the Tassie and Canberra games?
  16. We went up the last time they played there and the local Demon supporter group has a pre game function at a club close to the ground. Call the MFC Membership number and they will be able to give you the details. It's hosted by Russel Robertson. Then after this you just walk down to the match and get they 15- 20mins before the game starts.
  17. Would it have been too much for the coaches to do a couple of training sessions at Casey leading up to this game, given we were going to play in Hobart then Canberra in the middle of winter. Surely that ground would have given the team a more realistic conditions to see how the game plan might work at windy, cold and possibly wet grounds ! That last quarter was school boy football mistakes, not playing in front when defending into the wind and thinking kicking with the wind it would all just happen for them. So I blame the coaches for not preparing the team and the players for not doing some basics in those conditions.
  18. So based on your reasoning Hogan would have been dropped after the Darwin game. I think Jack has lots more credits in the bank ahead of what Hogan has. When is the last time or ever that Hogan has one us a game ??
  19. On our way down now but flight delayed. Thanks dpositive for your help in organising what we hope will be our second interstate win we have been too this season.
  20. Was married to a hawks supporter in the late 70s and 80's and had to go back to that place after every game we played against them. Except once when we almost beat them when Flower kicked a few in the last quarter. Tuck got a lucky free and they just fell over the line to win. I gave them hell and said they will never win the flag that year which they didn't. On the way out of the G I went for a slash and when I came out they had all gone. Left me there so didn't have to go back to to the social club. Ya!!
  21. Agree, I know he was coming back from a long layoff but did he get anything from playing . I have said it before, Hogan needs a few quarters if not a full game in the VFL "rag dolling" a few defenders like he did in his first year with us. help him get his confidence up and right for the finals.
