Have to say I was sceptical with everything we had to do to get an extra 1st round pick in 2019 and then we just used it just to get a small fwd, but now I’m so glad we did, not only did it fill a vital need he is an absolute gun to boot.

Can someone clarify why we were using tmac as the ruck in the fwd line last week over Jackson when gawn hung back, Jackson is clearly the better option in the ruck, don’t think I saw one of tmacs taps goto advantage quite the opposite

Think what this shows is regardless of if this group wins a flag we are 2 years away from seeing the best from this group, if we can be in the top 6 this year and top 4 next, that bodes well for potential future success. What you don’t want is to be peaking in 2 years and only getting in lower half of the 8 ala north of a few years back.

Jetta looked to struggle at times tonight, always gives 100% but just can’t keep up anymore, maybe Hibberd for Jetta. Concerned for Bradshaw but unless we want to try Vanders or Melksham in that role I don’t see many other options

Who is it depleted of, I only see Viney out, he has Oliver, max and Brayshaw with Langdon on the wing

We have seen Tomlinson on the wing and he didn’t cut it which is why he was tried back, maybe we could try Salem on the wing, not sure who then plays off the back half In his place but I like the idea of Salem transitioning the ball into the fwd line

I don’t understand why they would be looking at Daw as depth in the fwd line, a position he has never played. we would be better off playing another small for all he would offer. As a ruck backup in case gawn went down I could see it but never a fwd

Now or never for tmac, bad luck for weid starting to feels like he’s one of those players who never quite makes it

Look at some one like Dangerfield or Martin who play mid fwd 50/50, we already know he can’t play out of the back line but if he’s tagging that’s where he will need to go half the game, or say Neale who plays almost exclusively mid, is Viney or Petracca just going to stay out of the mid every centre clearance so harmes can tag. With the way the game is played now there isn’t room for a tagger, it’s the same reason no other teams play one either. I’m not saying don’t play harmes in the mid, but he’s got to do it as a ball winner first and foremost. If he is the 4th or 5th Mid then his time round the ball is going to be limited and he needs to play other parts of the ground. More so if we want to use someone like Pickett or Jackson as impact players from time to time round the ball

And move who of Oliver, Petracca or Viney from the centre, it would only weaken our main strength. If he can’t get in as normal non tagging mid then he doesn’t have a spot there other than maybe 2 or 3 games a year where we want to tag Neale or Martin

When is the last time you saw a top 5 player at a Melbourne based club leave and go to another Melbourne based club, it simply doesn’t happen, almost every move essentially falls into go home factor, the only moves that happen between Melbourne based clubs are ones where the player is pushed. Oliver will never leave Dees for another club unless we want him gone

Does Clarkson comes as part of the package

Not that it would stop every move but the AFL should look at allowing a bonus fee outside the cap to be paid to players based on time served at a club with that number increasing for every year served. It might at least give players pause about moving so often

So you are happy to give up any chance of competing in deep finals for the next few years on the hope that Weid and Jackson in the absence of Brown develop so we can contend in 3-4 years time assuming everything goes to plan.

Assuming he still wants to be an AFL player and all that it involves we should 100% be looking at getting him back, just like Bennell the upside is worth the risk even if it doesn’t come off
