  1. I think the scary thing about this loss is that you don't see smashing like this in modern football. With so many specialist coaching roles, player scouting, training facilities and draft concessions, the competition is much closer. Yet we go out and get done by the second biggest margin in football history. This the modern game where coaching techniques are king, and defensive coaching should have prevented such an embarrassment. This is terrifying. A 186 point loss in the modern game is more like a playstation score rather than something that is seen at a stadium. I will always love this club, but today I am embarrassed for the jumper and club after todays display.
  2. I am actually sorry I missed it. I can't hate on Greeny no matter how this may have come across, he is just a nice guy. Why in Gods name would the club let Greeny sit on the couch when they know he is not a media personality. Captain or not they should have sent in Colin Sylvia. Silky has no problems talking in front of the camera. I will always stand up and be a proud Demons supporter, but this stuff is pretty embarrassing. There has been a fair bit of it this season, and It feels like it is just the tip of the iceberg.
  3. AT 178cm and 77kgs I think it is fair to say he will not be a wrecking ball at AFL level for quite some time. The good news is you cannot train draftees to have guts, heart and testicular fortitude. Jack has it!! The apple hasn't fallen far from the tree.
  4. Nathan Jones, you are my rock. Talk about heart and soul, this guy is it. He will never be our best player, but he will never be our worst. Would not mind having another 2-3 Nathan Jones types running around.
  5. Hoping the Scorps can storm home!!
  6. I think we need to pinch 2 of these games. With the race so tight, dropping 3 of these 4 puts us at the mercy of other results. Two wins should keep us in touch with finals down the home stretch. Geelong isn't happening, they will wipe the floor with us. Hawthorn are still a boggy team (have we beaten them post Neitz era??). That leaves us with Carlton who really need a win to keep the media off their back, and WC at etihad which seems to be cursed turf for this club. We need to find a way to beat Carlton and WC. They are the best chance we have of pinching a W.
  7. The media is all over the "Good" and "Bad" demons. Chip and Beamer certainly have tried their guts out, but it might not be enough to get the AA selection. A little win streak over the next few rounds could end the "Bad" demons tag, which certainly would help a these boys get a look in.
  8. Steph Martin is developing into a one-of-a-kind player. His work at ground level is outstanding considering his size, and his ability to turn on the run is just a site to behold. Ricky-P reminded us all of why we were so insistent on him signing when the GC suns were having a sniff. He was sizzling whenever he went near the ball. A few boys might be put under some pressure to retain a spot (Strauss/Morton/Tappy) but considering the conditions and the fact we got the 4 points I think we might make only one change if flash is ready to go.
  9. Not happy about it! Reserved seat memberships are not cheap, and we shouldn't have to fork out any extra for Shitihad stadium. I will just go and sit somewhere random and maybe bump into some of the characters on demonland.
  10. He was a bright spot during some very dark days. Sad to see him go, but it is what it is and we have to move on. No point even retaining him on the rookie list. Once he goes back to NT he isn't coming back. Besides, we could use that rookie spot to unearth another Nicholson type. We are hungry for success, and we need players who are hungry for it.
  11. Not the first time Heath has tripped up at the club. This has to be the end of Eddies tether. Heath Shaw's name will come up on the trade table no doubt about it. I would take bets on Health being moved, but I don't want to tempt anyone......
  12. Scorps were good last week, and this is an even stronger side. With some luck all guys coming back from injury will get through and give us the much desired "selection headache" that we so covert. Be interesting to see how Robbie Campbell goes in the 1s, and how Fitzy goes coming back in the 2s.

They need to hurry up! Still tossing up whether to jump into fantasy football this season!!!
  14. I would play footy in a pink dress and a pair of stilettos for 1 million a year.........Tom just has to show up.
  15. Harry "Media [censored]" O'Brien. Never has a mid tier footballer had so much air time.
  16. Can't stand Mick Malthouse. I simply can't stomach Malthouse. Him in red and blue would just kill me.
  17. Seems like everyone is sniffing around the Demons kids. Perhaps they would be willing to trade for Jake Spencer instead who also has shown some promise. Would be shattered to lose Gawn so early on. Hopefully this group can commit to the club and build a team that will be the envy of all. If all our kids take the first big $$$ that are thrown at them then we are in deep s**t.
  18. I watched the games down at Casey (and froze my nuts off) and thought some of the Dees were okay. Some quick observations: Maric - Too good to be playing at this level. He is very good at ground level and was a cut above in the wet. Bate - He looks quick at this level. Will no doubt have some trade interest as he is good enough to play AFL. Dunn - Did some nice things, and reminded me that when he is going he is good, but when he is quiet he is invisible. Tappy- Has to be one of the biggest built guys going around. Looked a god among men out there. Got though without any hiccups and could be back in red and blue soon. Hammy seems to be good as he did drive a few long kicks out of defense. He looked good. Gawn - He is developing into quite a footballer. Can see him pushing for genuine selection next season barring any setbacks. He was a monster in the ruck, and is clean by foot for a big guy. Very excited by Max Gawn. Bartram - Pretty much what you would expect from Barty. Contest, run into space and tackle. Over and over again without fail. Blease - Did some nice things, got some footy but didn't wow me in the wet. Won't be selected on that performance. Cook - One of those "coming soon" attractions. Ran into space, kicked a goal and looked like he belonged. Will still require some more time to develop. Warnock - Rock solid in defense. Can spoil and mark. Still question marks over ability to move the ball on and switch play cleanly. McNamara - Didn't think he had a future ... he was one of our best today. Would like to see how he could go with a quicker tempo game, but in a wet slow game he was strong, clean and just about everywhere the footy was. Evans - Works hard, and is a smart footballer. Sometimes his disposal undoes his hard work. (it was wet though!) Bennell - Should have dominated ... didn't. Rate him as a footballer, but there is something missing with Jamie. Davis - Did some nice things, but needs some serious time at Casey. Campbell - Was solid, would like to see how he goes in the Casey ones. That's about it. Kitchin Monkhorst was good for the Hawks. Not sure why he isn't on an AFL list be he certainly has something about him. Son of Damien Monkhorst so he has some height to him.
  19. Maybe the AFL should send out another DVD to players/clubs called: Turning our game into netball. It is no surprise that other codes (soccer/union/league) are starting to get a strong following in Victoria, and that AFL is treading water in some states. The game is becoming over sanitized. Yes football in a dangerous game in some aspects, and the players are paid accordingly. There are far more dangerous jobs that many of us fans work for less pay. But we are not told "no ban saw" because there is a risk to the player/worker. It is part of the job, so is a tackle in footy.
  20. Murphy can play. Class player who will be a 250+ game player at Carlton.
  21. Bartram had a good run before getting injured. He was very consistent and performed at a high level when we were short of tough mids. He is finding it hard to work his way back in with Jordie McKenzie playing so well and the FD looking to get more games into other players. If he had not got injured we might be listing Bartram on that pass marks list. Tappy could also be in the same boat barring his injury. I think Trenners has been a shining light this season, he has not gone missing all that often, and has provided some surprised hardness with his contested possies and strong (sling....) tackling.
  22. Thanks for the scoop DirtyDees! Collingwood are an impressive unit. It is only a matter of time before we becomes the hunters instead of the hunted. A few of our kids are a tad lean, but a few good preseasons and you might see a few more Chip Frawley/Brent Moloney types running around.
  23. Bate is gone. Would be upset to see Ricky and Morts go unless we got something nice in return. I would have thought Ricky Petterd would be as safe as houses to be on next years list, but you never know.
