  1. It is an oddly run league the AFL. The demons who have been terrible for 7 years are denied a priority pick, yet the swans who have played in 11 straight finals campaigns including 2x flags have been able to purchase the top available players two years running to due an allowance. I think us being given a PP would create less uproar then Buddy going to the Swans, yet here we are with the top FA going to the Swans and the dees being left without an extra pick to help get them back on track.
  2. Has anyone read Maverick Weller's interview with the Tassie Examiner after his axing? I found the article very interesting in relation to his character. Seems hungry, but he does seem to have a strong opinion of himself based on his comments. http://www.examiner.com.au/story/1751972/delisting-no-surprise-to-weller/ Beggers can't be choosers. If we are bargain bin shopping and Weller is available, we have a look.
  3. Football is business, and Roos has committed to his role burning past bridges to ensure his future success. Change is a powerful thing, and this club is showing clear signs of change. Exciting times ahead under the direction of Roos.
  4. Hogan was one of the very few bright spots in what was the darkest season of football I can recall for the MFC. Hogan has some hype that he might find hard to live up to in his first season next year, but could be a legitimate heavyweight in the AFL when he gets a few seasons under his belt. Very exciting prospect to watch develop.
  5. Macca will be worth more to the MFC when his time at GWS is over. He is assisting building a club from scratch, and will be a better coach and asset to a club for going through that process. Todd Viney was at the Hawks and Crows before coming back to the dees. Spending time at another club is what helped Todd get a better understanding of footy outside the club he played at. Macca will be back one day. His axing will leave a bad taste in his mouth for a while, but he was a captain of this club. He will always love the MFC.
  6. One of my best mates is a die hard Lions member, so I asked him on his thoughts about Polec. He said he looks the goods when he is on the park, but is behind the development of a raft of other draftees over the past few years. Thinks a string of injuries has kept him from developing at the level he could have been, and wonders if he will actually ever be a game winner. I asked him where he thought he would be traded to, and he has heard preference is back to SA but will come back to VIC if it means a "fresh start". If a fresh start is what he is after, he very could well end up in Victoria if the right deal can be struck. I suppose his "fresh start" depends on the asking price. I would look at swapping players for him, but an early pick is a risk. He should come with a 'fragile' sticker wherever he is traded to. For me, I think we pass and look at other options that come with far less risk.
  7. Didak comes with more baggage the a Cher drag queen tribute show. If we are to have a look at another clubs discard, there needs to be more than 12 months worth of footy left in the tank, and as minimal baggage as possible. We are not just building a new culture, but are rebuilding a club. Didak is not the person to help.
  8. I think the direction of the footy club is to start winning now. A recycled big pretty much says it all. They are taking a punt on guys who can contribute straight away and Sellar is that guy. I am always indifferent with the ND, but I feel comfortable with these picks.
  9. Wow, I guess we can't do much worse than past drafts. Moral of the story: don't sweat on the later picks.

Dappa Dan and Nuggets. Neither of you have Arian Foster in your top 5 running backs??? Lets not get carried away by who has rushed the most yards this season thus far. Foster did miss 2 games and was clearly hurting game two. Since he has come back there has not been a back as good as Foster. My texans were dead in the water without him. Since he has bounced back we have started to shake up the AFC. With our schedule, we could take top seed in the AFC...maybe.......but we are talking about the Texans. Jay Cutler ahead of Matt Ryan? Each to their own.......
  11. Feels like we are just waiting for Nev to "flick the switch". Has some qualities that are rare of small forward/mid types, but just can't seem to build on the previous week causing him to fall out of favor at the selection table. I like many on here are wondering if and when the real Nev Jetta is going to stand up. He has 12 months to show the world what Neville Jetta is all about. We wait..........
  12. Plenty of time to develop. He has an AFL body and is silky by boot. I think the rest of the tools needed to carve out a good AFL career will come with more games. Very excited to see him develop next season.
  13. Leon had a great 2011, but had gone missing for the past few seasons in a solid team. He isn't the player we a looking for and we aren't in a position to deviate of our path of building towards the future.

Seriously I fell of my chair with the Colts V Saints score today. 11 points off equaling the NFL record for points. As I said earlier, I cannot see the colts winning a game! And as an AFC South man, I AM LOVING IT!!!! Finally my boys have a clear shot at the division. Marino's record will fall. Brees??? Also, I can see Cam Newton setting all kinds of rookie records! HE IS A FREAK!!!
  15. Get a life? I find in odd that when you have a conflicting view on here people decide they will target you. If he wasn't an AFL footballer he would not be given the same compassion let me tell you. I am all for second chances in life, but this is football and it is all business!
  16. If Colin is in trouble it will be interesting to see how the club respond under Neeld's reign. Hoping it is just a slow news week and they are blowing this up to be more than a very minor indiscretion.
  17. Travis Tuck? The 'Iceman'? Come on. Any player who has the talent to play at the top level and throws it away by using is a complete idiot. We have had great luck in unearthing talent via the rookie list that may have missed their chance due to an injury or bad luck. But instead we look at a guy who had his chance but wasted it by shooting up and not putting in the hard yards on the track. Don't get me wrong, I hope he gets his life back on track and finds a way to enjoy footy and perhaps even make a career out of it again. I just don't think it should be at the expense of one of our rookie list spots.
  18. Yoda, Perhaps next time you bump into any of the "brothers", ask them what Aaron has done for them on and off the field. The leadership tag runs deeper than what you see on your television.

The Colts have Andrew Luck in their sights. Can't see the Colts winning a game!
  20. 2012 will be a new era for Aaron Davey. Davey is a guy who crawled into the AFL via the rookie list and quickly established himself as one of our better players. One bad season and we are calling for his head on a stick? Seems a tad shortsighted considering he was injured and the entire team fell short of expectations. Add coaching and Scully drama and 2011 was a year for everyone to forget. Davey is the leader of the brothers, and despite not being a hard footballer is still one of our most skillfull players. He is a leader and a very capable player. Neeld will no doubt use his strengths and we should see a much better Davey in 2012. A refreshed Davey is something to look forward to.
  21. YM was gold, but his absence has been made up by the great many who don't take this stuff too seriously. Plenty of amusing posters out there.
  22. We have until the 31st of October to lodge our list. There will be more cuts made to the senior and rookie lists. Juice cannot and will not survive the cut. Impossible given we just cut our losses with a few other players of similar ilk. 2-3 cuts still to come, and Juice heads the list of players to be cut. Wonna surely gets cut ahead of Macca.
  23. If we had not been so lucky with drafting Frawley he would still be on our list and probably have another 50+ games under his belt. He gave us his best, and he will have plenty of opportunities over the next 3 years at the GC Suns. Good luck to him!
  24. Maric is 100% gone. Wonna 75% but would be rookied. Joel MacDonald would be 50/50 but with Warnock going our depth down back has thinned making his case to stay on stronger. Spencer 100% would be gone if not for the fact he is under contract. He won't play another game for the club. Comes down to who out of Macca and Wonna is more valuable to the club. If 2011 is anything to go buy it is not the latter. As for the rookie list, the broom could come out. There is zero need for Robbie Campbell with Clark in town, and Tom McNamara has shown he is not up to it. Juice has run out of Juice (chances). So there is 3 spots without even taking into consideration that Cameron Johnston may have only received a one year deal. Nicho and Evans will both be retained and are unlucky we were not more active during the trade period as either could have seen themselves elevated had Bate, Maric and more draft picks been traded on to other clubs.
  25. Warnock will find his way to the GWS team some way or another. He can let his footy do the talking then. Did we mistreat a solid AFL player, or was he just not up to it? Warnock is in control of his career now, we gave him a chance and now both parties move on.
