  1. fair enough, i suppose we will never know for sure.
  2. I think you misunderstand me rjay, i have come out and said i didn't believe a trade was ever in the cards. I do think there is a difference between having zero interest whatsoever in a player and where we would have been with Tom though for example, i think we'd have zero interest whatsoever in bringing in Jay Shultz, but Tom i think we'd more than likely have asked either Brisbane or his management to explain the situation, given he's a quality player and his trade price may have been lower than most clubs would have expected. he may never have been any sort of chance to come to the dees but i think this is the type of situation it's better to be informed on before ruling a player in or out
  3. Do you believe the club did it's due Diligence on Tom?
  4. The unusual variable in this situation being the "Attitude issues" but i agree, while i am sure we would have scoped the situation out, i doubt we were ever really genuinely interested unless his price dropped significantly.
  5. Would we consider going hard for one of Fyfe, Martin or Josh Kelly next year given we'll be in a strong position to offer them an attractive deal/club to come to.
  6. With all due respect mate i think you're treating an educated guess as a fact. every AFL club would have an extensive list of players they'd be keen to keep track of going into the off season and Tom Rockliff would 100% be on our list, so i have little doubt that we'd have made a phone call, at least did our due diligence here. so to say we never approached Brisbane full stop or there was zero interest is insane in my opinion, there is little doubt there would have been interest, and conversations had. but i appreciate that i am also treating an educated guess as a fact. having said that the trade mentioned by Gen Dee was a joke and flat out never going to happen. he's not the type of player we need and i think the club has made the right decision.
  7. Barrett said yesterday on trade radio that we asked the question early on, decided he wasn't in our price range and moved on, so that's as far as it got apparently.
  8. Excellent Authority that Tom Rockcliff will be at one of three clubs next year. 1. The Brisbane Lions 2. Adelaide Crows (if the Gibbs deal falls through ) 3. The Saints are/have been sniffing around. He is simply not what the Melbourne footy club needs, if we were going to make a huge pass at an A grade player i'd be stocking up picks and $$$ for Josh Kelly when he comes out of contract next year, he fits our needs perfectly. Interesting that Gen Dee posted this rubbish yesterday, caused a stir and has now run away and hid in a hole somewhere. Jordan Lewis will offer us more than Rockcliff would have, he's a true leader with a fantastic footy brain and it doesn't cost us the world to get him, and he's still in my opinion our second best mid.
  9. I've heard, and i hope someone else on here can confirm that we've at least expressed interest in the following Sam Durdin ( not sure if the spelling is correct, but young talented North player who doesn't get a good run in the 1's) Brandon Matera Jake Barrett Jackson Merret Nathan Vardy this is not to say i think we'll land all or any of these players or my opinion that we should chase all or any of them, i am simply curious if anyone else is hearing this and can confirm any of these.
  10. I reckon that's a pretty soft attitude, if you're waiting for the facts to come out on the Essendon saga you'll be waiting for a while, reckon they're with the records.
  11. I reckon that's more of a reflection on you rather than the posters trying to convince you, it's really not as complicated as you're trying to make it.
  12. What the hell, do the Hawkes or Cats even have a salary cap? here's an idea, if you finish top 4 you cannot trade players in that year, and top 4 also can't sign free agents that year. if those players want to move they can't just move to a contender and keep them up the top .
  13. Hahahahahahahahhahahahaha wow, this guy is a special young man isn't he?
  14. I would like to pick up Jong simply because every time we play against them at any level he always dominates, better to have him on our side hahaha
  15. Of course! Essendon couldn't simply act like normal human beings and take the deal on offer, there will be at least a week of them making unreasonable requests before they accept pick 26. i fully expect them to ask for Brayshaw, Hogan, Petracca, Tyson, Salem, Weideman, Gawn, McDonald and Watts before they even consider pick 26. it's just how they roll
  16. Look forward to working with you Red, i've been appointed director of drinking and shenanigans, really keen to develop some really unhealthy habits within the club and hopefully set us up for a period of sustained memory loss and inebriation
  17. Wooooooo!!! should i book Grand Final tickets now? PARTY NAKED!!
  18. So without being on an AFL list you can't possibly be in a position to judge AFL players. better let Carlton know they should sack Brendan Bolten.
  19. I am simply saying no poster should rudely shoot down another for making a suggestion in a discussion forum, again, i never said we should chase Lobbe, simply asked if he would be someone we'd keep an eye on, who knows perhaps he doesn't get as much attention as he thought and he may be willing to take a role as a backup ruckman somewhere just to stay on an AFL list, that's the role he'd be playing at Port anyways, obviously competing with Gawn is a tough ask, but Gawn has until last year missed quite a lot of games through injury and we have very little backing him up at this stage, so whether it's Lobbe or someone else i'd be very surprised if the club wasn't looking at a more ready to go ruck option to come in and provide back up. right now if Gawn and Spencer are injuried at the same time our next best options are the King's who both are a long way from ready to step up at AFL level, and Spencer has never cemented himself as an AFL ruckman, not sure we could rely on him for an entire season if Gawn went down.
  20. Lol just because you disagree doesn't mean you need to be a tool about it champ. we don't have great depth in our ruck stocks, he's a ruckman looking for a new home, i really don't think it's that silly a suggestion, clearly you've woken up on the wrong side of the bed.
  21. Any danger you might actually read the post? i simply asked if we'd look at someone like that, didn't once suggest we should go after him, or he would want to come to us.
  22. Not sure they could even say anything if it was true? surely it would be 100% confidential between them and the club, perhaps they found it amusing that he called them to ask.
  23. I wonder if we'd look at Lobbe from Port as a backup ruckman? I personally don't want him, but i think the club wants a backup ruckman
