  1. .....[snip] Melbourne and Fremantle have chatted today. And Fremantle and Jesse are still in contact.
  2. Ladder position - 7th (out first round of finals) Bluey - 1. Clayton Oliver 2. Max Gawn 3. Jesse Hogan Goals - Jesse Hogan (60) Tom McDonald (45) Jeff Garlett (41) Best first year player - Charlie Spargo - 15 games (20 goals) Most improved - the inclusion of Jake lever helps Oscar become one of the AFL's most reliable defenders Disappointment - Dom Tyson finds himself playing at Casey regularly and on the trade block at seasons end
  3. We will be patient with him i'm sure but with Garland going out, Tommy going forward it gives us a bit more depth down back. I think he's definitely someone who looks like he could very easily become a reliable AFL defender
  4. I spoke to someone who is quite involved with talent scouting particularly up in the north east vic area and he said to me Charlie has every attribute of a top 5-10 pick but his height drops him down. I think he'll be a great addition to our forward ranks.
  5. Really glad he got another chance because he's a ripping bloke but i think also a smart pick up from Port. Worst case scenario they get a great clubman and very strong SANFL performer creating pressure for spots, developing young players and providing leadership. and they're paying him peanuts to do it.
  6. I'm shocked the Pies want to play us twice a year, every year they talk themselves up and talk us down only to get their pants pulled down. apart from our last game which i still believe had more to do with us playing badly than them playing well.
  7. โ€œ an exchange involving their two late first round picks and our pick number 10โ€ vs an exchange of their two first round picks and pick number 10. Not that it matters, we all just want the deal done
  8. The deal would involve those picks but it would not be a straight swap. Its just something we will discuss in order to get picks capable of getting the deal dine
  9. And if you read my post youโ€™d understand that was not my implication. Simply that it would be a deal involving those picks. And that we were going to ask the question. If youโ€™re going to attack someoneโ€™s posts itโ€™s best to know what youโ€™re talking about.
  10. An update on the lever deal. The crows wonโ€™t budge on the two first round picks deal so the club will be having a meeting with Richmond to discuss an exchange involving their two late first round picks and our pick 10. The crows have indicated that those two picks would satisfy the deal if the tigers are willing to trade them. Despite earlier confusion the watts race is still on with Geelong and port slightly leading Sydney and interestingly his chances of staying with us slightly better than they were. Donโ€™t rule that out. We have told the cats pick 20 or no deal if he chooses them. Freo want to look after balic so pick 64 is the best pick weโ€™d have to give up to secure him. Dean kent has been shopped around but has gained very little interest at this early stage.
  11. Balic has talent. But has always had off field concerns. I believe this is why he slid in the draft. If he can sort out his off field stuff I think heโ€™s got the talent to play a role in our side
  12. Crows knew lever was going about 6 weeks ago and they knew he was definitely coming to Melbourne about 12 days ago so the best and fairest situation looks even worse on their part. Melbourne and the crows have been chatting about this deal for a while. It will probably take most of the trade period but itโ€™ll get done
  13. My info is the club is very confident the crows will accept our current offer. Our current offer is NOT pick # 10 & 27 it is pick #10 and a 2018 second round pick. The club is very much hoping to sell the crows on that deal, and use the potential watts deal combine with #27 to gain another first round pick.
  14. mental illness is a [censored], have virtually no respect for hird as a person but wouldn't wish the black dog on anyone.
  15. Mitchell and Cotchin are now the joint 2012 brownlow medal winners.
  16. I think a strongly lead AFL would have seen Essendons actions as an attack on their rules and their integrity rather than a mess they have to clean up, i think at the very least the Bombers should have lost out on their first round pick, the Lions were awarded a priority selection to help them but missed out on pick 1 because Essendon did the wrong thing, it's a long way from fair. perhaps the AFL might be keep for Essendon to keep quiet about some of the details of the SAGA as well.
  17. It's a disgrace, but it shows the AFL are in Essendons corner rather than neutral and their priority is revenue rather than integrity or respect in the sporting world, in my opinion a sign of poor leadership
  18. Yup, and Cotchin has already said he'd take a medal if it was offered and Mitchell had a huge grin when asked so clearly they're both keen on it.
  19. Exactly.. if he was returning the medal for as he claims " the integrity of the award and what it stands for" he would understand it should be awarded to the most deserving player or players instead of him, and he's also admitting a level of guilt and that he doesn't fit that bill, this is close to proof in my eyes that he's been given a nudge to hand it back rather than actually wanting to do the right thing.
  20. Asked whether 2012 runners-up Mitchell and Cotchin should be recognised as winners, Watson added: โ€œNo I donโ€™t.โ€ i Can't understand why the two fairest and best players of 2012 don't deserve medals, Watson cheated and they shouldn't miss out on the best individual award in the game and any extras it provides because he's only just started doing the right thing.
  21. rigged a system, that sounds a little like a certain tribunal that used an incorrect standard of proof seemingly in the hope that it would make the issue go away, and since then every other court has found the opposite outcome. ASADA were really up against it in this case, absolutely nobody wanted them to get to the bottom of it and unleash the dirty secrets into the light of day, they haven't been perfect but they got the job done and in my opinion got the correct result despite the tip off, constant leaking to cause a media storm against them which is a big part of why people say things about ASADA and the AFL tribunal which in my opinion used the wrong standard of proof to get a result.

  23. Under the rules of the AFL if the player with the most votes is deemed ineligible for the award the award goes to the player or players with the next highest amount of votes, so the players involved in my opinion have a very strong case to be awarded Brownlows, it's the highest individual honor in the game and they shouldn't miss out on the award because Jobe did the wrong thing, i would think the players association would be very keen to argue this point for them.
  24. I think they could very strongly argue that they should be awarded one.
  25. They all stuffed up mate, Hird, Dank, Weapon, AFL, everyone, the whole situation has been a disaster, not only does it show the EFC in a bad light, i believe it puts the AFL's corruption firmly out there for all to see, we've all see how they handle these sorts of things. the AFL tribunal found them not guilty... i mean seriously how they thought that was going to be allowed still baffles me.
