  1. It's a disgrace, but it shows the AFL are in Essendons corner rather than neutral and their priority is revenue rather than integrity or respect in the sporting world, in my opinion a sign of poor leadership
  2. Yup, and Cotchin has already said he'd take a medal if it was offered and Mitchell had a huge grin when asked so clearly they're both keen on it.
  3. Exactly.. if he was returning the medal for as he claims " the integrity of the award and what it stands for" he would understand it should be awarded to the most deserving player or players instead of him, and he's also admitting a level of guilt and that he doesn't fit that bill, this is close to proof in my eyes that he's been given a nudge to hand it back rather than actually wanting to do the right thing.
  4. Asked whether 2012 runners-up Mitchell and Cotchin should be recognised as winners, Watson added: “No I don’t.” i Can't understand why the two fairest and best players of 2012 don't deserve medals, Watson cheated and they shouldn't miss out on the best individual award in the game and any extras it provides because he's only just started doing the right thing.
  5. Oh for sure, there is a lot of unknowns here, i personally just think H would be really keen to get out there and set himself for a huge year given this year hasn't gone the way he would have been hoping that it would. i see this as a very big year for him, if he doesn't lock down a spot in the best 22 he probably won't be at the club in 2018, in my opinion.
  6. FInished 7th in the best and fairest and averaged 26 touches or something, i reckon Bernie is in a slightly different position where he's still in the best 22 pretty comfortably, may not be the case at the end of the year but right now he is, and H is fringe at best so while he isn't required back yet i would personally have liked to see him on the front foot and out there early getting set for a huge year. ( i have no idea where he is at or if he's even able to train at this stage)
  7. rigged a system, that sounds a little like a certain tribunal that used an incorrect standard of proof seemingly in the hope that it would make the issue go away, and since then every other court has found the opposite outcome. ASADA were really up against it in this case, absolutely nobody wanted them to get to the bottom of it and unleash the dirty secrets into the light of day, they haven't been perfect but they got the job done and in my opinion got the correct result despite the tip off, constant leaking to cause a media storm against them which is a big part of why people say things about ASADA and the AFL tribunal which in my opinion used the wrong standard of proof to get a result.
  8. One thing i really like about Goody is he is extremely confident in his own abilities, but also really happy to seek help as well, wants to learn and improve all the time. He has an amazing understanding of the modern game and a great passion and i would be very surprised if he didn't get this club right up the pointy end of the ladder very soon, a flag will be a tough ask with the AFL Giants dominating everything but i think we'll be right in the mix for a good patch.

  10. It's really interesting how well the two sports compliment each other, a lot of people seem to be very naturally talented and able to play multiple sports at a very high level but AFL and basketball go well together
  11. Under the rules of the AFL if the player with the most votes is deemed ineligible for the award the award goes to the player or players with the next highest amount of votes, so the players involved in my opinion have a very strong case to be awarded Brownlows, it's the highest individual honor in the game and they shouldn't miss out on the award because Jobe did the wrong thing, i would think the players association would be very keen to argue this point for them.
  12. I think they could very strongly argue that they should be awarded one.
  13. If this was a Dees player they'd have copped 2 years, i have little doubt of that. I wouldn't rule out ASADA deciding 6 months is a bit soft and going in really hard at this one.
  14. They all stuffed up mate, Hird, Dank, Weapon, AFL, everyone, the whole situation has been a disaster, not only does it show the EFC in a bad light, i believe it puts the AFL's corruption firmly out there for all to see, we've all see how they handle these sorts of things. the AFL tribunal found them not guilty... i mean seriously how they thought that was going to be allowed still baffles me.
  15. The AFL needs to understand that an attack on the rules is an attack on them, they're so concerned with any loss of revenue that all integrity of the game has gone totally out the window! They need stronger leadership and a willingness to sit back and be neutral and punish things for what they are, rather than trying to find loop holes and play games to look after their mates. 6 months is a disgrace for someone who has actively avoided a drug test ( assuming that all that has been reported is accurate )
  16. Interested to hear opinions on the Brownlow, do you think the best course of action is to Award a brownlow medal to Sam Mitchell and Trent Cotchin Have no winner for the 2012 season? My view is that the next best and fairest player eligible should be awarded the medal.
  17. isn't the subject the Bombers doping Saga? i am not being deliberately argumentative, but i am not sure what is okay and what isn't. maybe change the title of the thread if you're only wanting conversation related to Jobe handing the brownlow back, or lock it?
  18. Won't bother them, they'll take their academy players either way. how has Whitfield avoided a 2 year ban, surely dodging a drug test is enough for a breach?
  19. Cheers for the training reports guys, hands down the best thing on Demonland and 99% of why i come on here.
  20. Just curious, but are you going to lock this thread now? because if discussing ASADA or the Essendon case is derailing the thread now it seems pointless to have it at all.
  21. Watson was found guilty of cheating, he doesn't get to sit on his hands and wish it all away. I don't understand your sympathy for the players, they weren't duped, they were either dangerous ignorant or outright cheated, either way their actions wouldn't have been tolerated at a club with the games integrity at heart. he should have handed it back the moment he was found guilty if he wanted to honour what the medal stands for, not months later when the AFL has tipped him off to hand it back coz they were going to take it. Just think, the fact noone knows what happens tells you everything you need to know, they invested huge $$ into this program, there is no way they wouldn't have kept detailed records in order to determine if it was working or not, the fact there were no records and the players didn't declare injections says it all really. Jobe has done the right thing, but it took him way to long to get there.
  22. We need a player who plays that position, but an AFL standard one. surely there has to be some sort of filter though, we have no spots for a DFA so it's not going to happen.
  23. Ha! Stu's recruiting team have suggested to the club that we should recruit Josh Green and Shaun Mckernan to the club to boost our "superstar factor." why do we need threads about players we're never going to recruit in a million years?

  25. the $6,000,000 over 6 years he was offered? i'd get up and leave most places if that was on offer
