  1. But so many of the current players don't lack elan - what they lack is the ability to be AFL players. It is not effort that is lacking - it is ability that is lacking.
  2. I want to go back to the "Will you care if we finish last vote". 1 - clearly all those who didn't were not there today - not good enough (but lucky). 2 - it was Member appreciation day - maybe 17,000 odd members - no appreciation after the game started - but still so many of the 22 just not good enough. 3 - I saw the all time VFL/AFL record loss at Waverley in 1979 v Fitzroy - 190 points - but was young enough to get distracted by other things afterwards - not so now - absolutely gutted. 4 - how many members won't renew in 2015 after today (I already have) - how many young Demons will give up on the the Club for ever after today - the damage done massive.

  4. Could not agree more. (I was at Waverley in 1979 - still the record losing margin in the VFL/AFL history v Fitzroy - 190 points - but I was younger then and could do other things and forget it - thought I was gutted after the Brisbane loss - but today was even more sickening).
  5. Roos is the best man for the job. Having said that defence is a good starting point (not great today) - but must also have a forward line - at least in the first quarter the Dees were the better side but had no forward line - all downhill from there.
  6. Undeniable he was awful today when badly needed (I know he wasn't Robinson Crusoe but that is another issue).
  7. Neale D a great man for the MFC - my heart goes out to him and his family. Life can be so cruel.
  8. This old heart broken today - the only plus is the Dees don't play the Saints again.
  9. So why not Michael Clarke, Mitch Johnson, Gary Ablett, Adam Scott, Tony Abbott, Joe Hockey??????????????????????
  10. King just justifying his existence on T V. We could all come up with numerous scenarios. All that matters at the minute is Sunday.
  11. The King bit is only to justify his pay packet and fill in time on telly - any of us could come up with all the "analytical" stuff he makes a living out of. All that matters at the minute is how the Dees play on Sunday.
  12. Almost but Jonesy deserves it again.
  13. Thanks - would not miss it for the world - Robbie Flower - ABSOLUTE CHAMPION - the greatest. Would have won the Brownlows he deserved if he had played in a top team throughout his career - only have to remember he was nearly always BOG for Victoria with good players around him. A lot of other terrific Dees players in 1987 as well - shame Robbie didn't have them with him earlier in his career at his peak - Or that we don't have them now.
  14. Both have a long way to go - fingers crossed they can improve rapidly.
  15. Very good for the Dees - harshly treated. Thanks Brent - you will always be remembered especially as a B & F winner.
  16. I had totally written him off. Rapt he has proven me and so many wrong. Masterstroke by Roos to use him as he has and full credit to Nev Jetta for grabbing the chance with both hands - one of the major success stories of the year.
  17. Spot on daisycutter - clearly you care - thank goodness someone does
  18. Yep - black and white - any win is better than a loss, any rung up the ladder is something - have to start somewhere. I can only presume the "I don't cares" have been supporters for 5 minutes, if at all - after 50 years of suffering since 1964 it hurts. The "I don't cares" is the attitude Roosy has identified as the reason the team cannot win - the culture of accepting defeat. Black and white YES. Undeniable YES!!
  19. Despite how awful the Dees were on Sunday - and it was horrendous - no-one goes out to play AFL footy and doesn't try - it is just that they are not good enough. Tanking is done by List Managers, Team selectors, Coaches on the day etc. - the players still try. They smashed the Sydney Swans by 70 something points after the "tanking year". So nothing affected the players that day.
  20. Sorry - but if you don't care - you cannot be a fair dinkum Demon supporter.
  21. Spot on Mydee - the silly woman (meet me at the pub or for a coffee and I will call her what I really think) - she cannot help herself - she is incapable of any understanding of the GAME ON THE FIELD - so it has to be all the Club political stuff that she writes about - and even that is mostly garbage - Caro's Arrow last night - "forget the players and the sun in their eyes - let the fans enjoy the sun" - was greeted with disbelief by her co panellists - Matty Lloyd said he couldn't see the ball in the sun at the southern end (looking into the northern arvo sun) - that is how dumb she is - SO PREDICTABLE.
  22. Yet again the Demons are a soft target. Have to start making strong statements which is very hard when the list is so inadequate. Would be good if the Club were to leak that Merrett should feel for his safety whenever he plays against the Demons again. MFC have been the "whipping boy" for far too long.
  23. Spot on. Surely if anyone really cares about the MFC - it hurts like hell - I still feel sick after yesterday. I just cannot accept the I don't cares are genuine supporters. Just as well AFL is not promotion /relegation - Dees would be in Div 3 if not Div 4 - that would hurt wouldn't it?
  24. The simple fact is so many on the list should not be there, most of the rest are just good ordinary players AT BEST and not much good AT WORST and there are very few good players/potentially good players - THAT IS ALL - the result of years of diabolical list management. Any other view is delusional. Certainly not simply just culture etc.the problem. Roos said last year before taking the job that the Dees list was not that bad - I think he knows otherwise now - gee I hope so. Sadly it is going to take a long time to rebuild it (if ever) - a lot longer than Roos remaining two years. ROOS AND THE CLUB HAVE TO BITE THE BULLET ABOUT THE LIST. Meanwhile so much more pain to come, probably memberships will be lost and young Demon supporters will give up on the club. Horrendous situation. Heartbreaking. Negative - yes but honest - yes. I probably haven't got a lot of years left on this planet but will always support the Club as I have for over 60 years - I love it - but it sure ain't easy - yesterday was sickening.
