  1. Is David Robb the guy who was at the Kangaroos in the 70s?
  2. So you should be sorry Shadow - seriously I know you are only being light hearted. Presume the cheer squad will have something to say on the banner BUT agree much more is warranted. In my 60 odd years following the Dees I have Flower as the best ever Demon followed by Barassi - may be a big call I know - he didn't play in good MFC teams let alone Premierships but he was sensational. Would love to see a statue near where the Jimmy Stynes one is - or anywhere adjacent to the ground - asap - he certainly deserves it. Will that happen - I have no idea.
  3. Biff you are kidding re just a praccy match and and essentially pointless - how many of the 35K members hoped for by season's start have been lost after that "effort"? - how many kids don't want to barrack for the Dees any more because they see a substitute Essendon side jumping around in joy at winning and now have to cop even more ridicule at school? Forget what Roos said after the game - he was clearly livid after the Bombers winning goal and when the siren went. He was trying so hard to win it he left Jordie McKenzie in the subs vest for the entire game - it was more than a "praccy" match to Roos - he had the "better" players all on the ground at the finish - unlike the Doggies game. The Dees were $1.14 or something to win. Yet again supporters of 17 other clubs are laughing at the Club!! How many times did Dees handball to others in a worse position and under the pump. Same old turnovers. Cannot believe the number of mistakes Viney made before the final one which cost the game. But at least he is still a prospect - unlike a number of others, Toumpas - uurrgghh. Garland struggling these days. Jamar on last legs with no obvious replacement. Watts does some good things but goes missing. Bail not even a good ordinary player. Forget Jordie McKenzie etc. etc. etc. 20 something losses at Etihad in a row. Geez we could do with some Ray Biffen ticker now. Finals in 2016 - no way.
  4. Doesn't look good. Very good player - one trick pony is baloney. Terrific 3rd forward or intercept player down back as he proved last year. An absolute tragedy if he goes - cannot help but wonder who has thrown big money at him already for 2016 onwards. Club has to move heaven and earth to keep him. Cannot stomach struggling clubs like MFC producing players only for the AFL cashed up new clubs or Geelong,Hawthorn etc.to then snaffle them. C'mon Jeremy - have a look at Jonesy and his loyalty.
  5. Heart and soul of the Club. Absolutely loyal unlike some others. In the thick of everything and at the bottom of every pack all game every game. Where would we be without Jonesy - an absolute gem. Never had a fraction of the credit he deserves. And as hard and tough as he is - never stoops to anything untoward. If ever a bloke deserves to wear the revered No 2 - he is the man. Jonesy you are a super star.
  6. I am old enough to have seen the 50s and 60s glory days and all the MFC champs of that fantastic era BUT Robbie Flower is clearly the best MFC footballer I have seen and my all time favorite. How would he have been in a good team - one only has to look at his performances when playing for Victoria - usually BOG or close to it. It is absolutely shattering and so unfair he is gone. What is it with the jinx on so many great MFC people - Robbie, Jimmy, Sean, Troy, Dean Bailey, Neale Daniher very sick - life is so damn tough at times. Most sincere condolences to all the Flower family.
  7. I am old enough to have seen the 50s and 60s premierships and the great players MFC had then BUT Robbie Flower is easily the best MFC player I have ever seen and my all time favorite footballer despite the superstars of today. No-one has ever given me greater pleasure to watch. Totally shattering. Most sincere condolences to the family from this simple Demon fan.
  8. See Nathan Jones got done for umpire contact - we should all pay his fine for him - no matter how bad things are he still goes 120% to get the ball - no wonder he finally accidentally contacted an ump in his desire to get the ball and do something for the team - AGAIN!!
  9. All three lucky - let us hope they can repay the faith.
  10. Got my notification today from my energy supplier that my electricity will cost approx 7.2% less with a refund dated back to 1/7/14. Thank you Tony and your Govt for repealing the unwarranted carbon price.
  11. Not sure about Michie yet - think he needs to improve a bit - that said - he is way ahead of a a great number of the others.
  12. What on earth can we talk about??
  13. jnrmac - the free kick count is the least of MFC's problems.
  14. I was wearing my Melb jumper to school. The other kids wore their Pies, Bombers, Blues, Lions etc. jumpers - no-one else followed Melb. I was hated for it. Everyone hated Melbourne - they were sick to death of them. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL.
  15. Your face on the train after the game.
  16. Unless North have one of their shockers (they are due) - and even then it won't matter - regardless of who the Demons pick it will be another disaster which I will as always put myself thru the agony of watching. Why oh why oh why???????????????????????????????
  17. Salem has shown very little so far - a worry but early days - fingers crossed he has a big pre season and justifies the faith - time will tell.
  18. Vince, Nat Jones (as always) and Tyson tried hard - Cross did well on Priddis - very little after that.
  19. It was exactly what I knew it would be - but it still hurt real bad - AGAIN!!
  20. Melbourne supporters who are still turning up to the games are just incredibly loyal - so any criticism of them is pathetic. It was awful seeing the faces of those in red and blue on the train going home after the GWS game - but I bet they are back next year because they obviously do bleed red and blue. They deserve so much better.
  21. The argument about wasted picks in the past is baloney - Jackson and Roos are better credentialed - the Tyson and pick 9 for pick 2 last year is a winner re Tyson - time will tell re Salem. The argument about "tanking" is baloney - MFC have been penalised and so many other clubs did it without penalty. MFC's win loss ratio over the last 8 years, the recent Lions and GWS debacles and the pain of sitting thru the Eagles game on Sat nite make me certain that if MFC don't qualify for assistance by way of a priority pick - NO-ONE will ever qualify for a priority pick. (do the idiots at the AFL seriously want Melb consistently being thrashed on T V and only masochists like us not switching over to a rubbish movie?)
  22. Agree re three of them - but you have to be kidding re Rivers - was always good and flying at the Cats.
  23. What a silly comment - the Hawks were awful until 1961 then the 70s. The Swans pretty good of late. Neither would hardly rate on a modern day spoon ladder - the Dees would rate even more.
  24. Too many of them will never be good enough - they don't have the talent - that is the sad reality. The booing was as pathetic as the game. I really feel for Nathan Jones carrying the team on his back every week/year - he would know many of his team mates are simply not good enough footballers.
