That's optimistic. Not the win, but the hope that no one on here will be complaining.
-
Oscar’s return was inevitable and seems to point towards TMac going forward again. Surprised by Wagner over Sparrow. No point getting all worked up about whether they are good selections or not- we won’t know until 4:30 Saturday.
-
When have I heard this tactic before..?
-
That’s great to hear Hannan up and about! Was he in the main group or rehab??
-
Meh... was never going to come here so not at all concerned that he’s signed on. If anything, it’s good news as it makes it harder for them to hang onto their two other good free agents Coniglio and Tomlinson.
-
He’s developing fine. If TMac as an experienced leader in the team was plying better, then it wouldn’t be such an issue. Weideman should be a supporting act at those stage of husbands career.
-
It was a lot easier two weeks ago when we could just blame everything on Oscar McDonald.
-
I can’t for the life of me imagine how he would have any impact whatsoever on our onfield performance. With that said, Collingwood played finals 7 of his 11 years at the helm, winning 1 premiership and coming runner-up once. If he does have an impact, sounds like a pretty good one.

The only place I can see 11 weeks is on the Demonland desktop homepage. Everywhere else this morning said TBC, now this afternoon 3-4.
-
We’ve really missed Hannan and AVB... much more confident in Hannan’s imminent return than the latter’s.
-
In the past that hasn’t been an year round deal. Usually pops up around this time of year though...

May setback + Jetta knee injury (8-10 weeks)
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to Big Gun's topic in Melbourne Demons
AFL.com now say 3-4 weeks. -
Have used the Hertz one a couple of times recently. It's pretty good on paper, however they are one of the more expensive places to begin with, so the savings don't add up to much (if anything).

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to Nascent's topic in Melbourne Demons
He's having in incredible year and, on form, would be our best player this season. Averaging 30 disposal and has already kicked 8 goals in six matches. Even if we didn't have room in the cap, if a player of his quality wanted to come to us, you make room. -
The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread

I think there is literally 'no way in hell' as the AFL rules dictate that we have to use a first round pick this year, don't they..? -
May setback + Jetta knee injury (8-10 weeks)
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to Big Gun's topic in Melbourne Demons
What's the source for this mods..? I see it on the side of the Demonland homepage, but the club website says TBA and the AFL site say TBC and The Age yesterday says that he's expected to be back in June... https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/viney-s-stack-adds-to-demons-injury-woes-as-may-waits-till-june-20190429-p51icj.html Where's 11 weeks (Round 17) coming from? -
I'm finding the whole process really exciting. There's been some good players taken from the state leagues for this season and some absolute rippers over the past decade. This should be a good opportunity to add some unrecognised talent, form and hunger to our list.

West Coast were an exceptional team in ‘94. I don’t think any other team in the league at their best wasn’t going to beat the eagles that year.
-
I think he’d probably passed his prime when the really bad back injury happened. He was All Australian 3 times alongside players like Ablett, Lockett, Dunstall and Modra, so he was a very good player. Settled at Full Forward I’m 94 when Jakovich went down and played 2 excellent seasons there. 1996 and 97 were virtual write-offs and you can see he’s carrying a lot more weight in those highlights as he was barely training. Gave up the captaincy to Viney in 98 to focus on getting his body right. Played well but was well and truly cooked by the time the finals came. I remember watching him in the Prelim against North and seeing that he could barely run and certainly couldn’t turn.
-
I can't stand him in the media so sometimes that clouds my memories of him as a player. He was sublime and highly skilled. He was used all over the ground wherever the coach needed him, which meant he never truly made a single position his own. This is probably the reason he does not get the credit or recognition in the broader public that he probably deserves. 3 x All Australian, 2 time BNF, Captain of Victoria and MFC Team of the Century. Could play.
-
But they’ll still cough-up a first rounder for him..?
-
So he can get Port Adelaide over the line for a flag, but not us..?
-
I don't see the need that so many people have to take pot-shots at injured players. Lever had zero possessions this round because he did his knee playing for our club after coping months of abuse from Adelaide fans for joining us. O'Meara was excellent today - absolutely useless in his first year at Hawthorn. All, these wonderful recruits haven't won them a final in a few years and were certainly of no help to them when we beat them by 5 goals last September. It was a good, exciting match that went down to the wire. Enjoy it.

You sure Charlie Curnow's tearing it up at the moment..? Has played 3 games for the year for 2 goals this year. He's a good prospect, but much like Petracca, the hype has not met the output to this stage. McKay was always gonna be a gun and was my pre-draft fancy. He is playing in a much, much more functional set-up now than what Weideman is. Blues are playing some good football.

Welcome Back to the Bottom of the Ladder
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We would have lost all of those matches if we had Lever and May in the team. In fact the one match that May played was our biggest defeat of the season. Modern AFL is about team defence and that is what we are currently not doing well enough. We aren’t locking the ball into our forward 50 and the opposition is clearing it without pressure or harassment. We aren’t pressuring the opposition ball carrier delivering it into their 50. They have time and space to select an option and deliver to their advantage. We aren’t filling our defensive 50 with numbers to man-up, then our number their forwards. One on ones at best; rarely a third man up or an intercept mark. Ayres, Doull, Scarlett and Jakovich couldn’t defend alongside our team defence.
