  1. Great young player destroyed by injury. His career died slowly and many forget (or choose to forget) how good he was in his first two years. One of my favourites.
  2. This proposal would work a lot better if you suggest the 'gun small forwards' we should target and what you'd be willing to give up to get them.
  3. I think it's just that it's a bit boring. It was rumoured all year and all but confirmed a month ago... nothing much the media can add to spice up an open-and-shut case.
  4. In no way could his interview have talked up his price. Elliot and his manager know we want him. Elliot and his manager know other clubs want him.
  5. Do you think in the meetings with Elliot and his manager Goodwin didn't say we'd 'you're a great player and we'd love to have you at the Melbourne Football Club.'? He's not going to 'neg' him: 'Jamie, you're terrible; no one else wants you; you're lucky to have us... sign now!' He is in demand with 4-5 clubs wanting him to choose them.
  6. I suppose it also reflects poorly on: Sydney Port Adelaide Essendon Carlton Bulldogs Geelong Also reflects pretty poorly on Fremantle too for not taking him at pick 4 when he was so obviously a 2 time Brownlow medalist. (Drafting is easy)
  7. I suppose I'm boring, but I enjoyed it when it was all about football; I enjoyed reliving the seasons matches. Now it seems it is about everything but football. They rush through the rounds as quickly as possible so they can get to the next WAG, musical number or 'comedy' skit.
  8. https://m.afl.com.au/news/2019-09-21/two-surgeries-baby-joy-and-new-hope-rebuilt-bennell-eyes-third-chance Three clubs have shown interest, one of them being Sydney. If Elliot falls through, I would be very happy if the club had a crack at him. (Very) High risk/ (very) high reward. He has everything we need and talent wise, would be in the top 30 players in the league. Sounds like he may have settled down of the field and now has daughter. Seems to honestly acknowledge his shortcomings now with a bit of maturity. Could be a Mitch Robinson style turn around..?
  9. Is named forward tonight and will be interesting to see if he plays there. One of the initial rumours regarding our interest in him as being in the Tom Lynch (Adelaide) role of high, mobile tall forward. That’s the position he was drafted for, but hasn’t been able to nail down at the Giants.
  10. Any coincidence being referred to as 'ironic'.
  11. Not as bad as hearing people saying that "things are hotting up" or "he come into the club".
  12. I’m happy with Lever over Fogarty. Lever was 21 when we traded for him, hardly ‘short-termism’.
  13. Super Draft?? 2017- that’s a stretch. We only gave away one first round pick in that draft too- pick 10. Pick 10-15 that year were O’Brien, Bonar, Fogarty, Brander, Ling and Bailey. Superdraft???
  14. Wanna save money on a free agent? Win games. Free agents have shown over and over again that they'll take less money in exchange for success.
  15. We were a different team with AVB playing last year. He brutalised opposition players, especially in the West Coast (home and away) game.
  16. Yup. I believe West Coast asked for picks 1 and 3 for Judd. When Carlton refused, they asked for 3 and Kennedy.
  17. Wow - I had no idea he was that old! Where have the years gone?!
  18. DFA- absolutely.
  19. The kid can play so there must be something more going on for him to be cut before the season is over. This has bright-red-sparkly-alarm-bells ringing all around it.
  20. I think it worked well at Melbourne - as in, it was a harmonious hand over from Roos to Goodwin. It succeeded at Melbourne as it was the coach (Roos) idea and is what he pushed for. It completely failed at Collingwood as it was imposed on the coach (Malthouse).
  21. I was referring to being dropped for the first final after playing every game, seeing that he was not a re-signing priority of the Giants and making the the decision to leave the club he's been at for 8 seasons. Tomlinson as a founding player, has played the fifth most games of any GWS player. It's been a big part of his life and to be leaving would have to have some effect.
  22. A no from me. Alan Richardson, whilst not getting the wins on the board, never seemed to have 'lost' the players. Pyke on the other hand, whilst at the helm of a very strong list, oversaw a tumultuous reign at the crows, where year after year we heard tales of player discontent.
  23. My view of Tomlinson hasn't changed after last night's match. He has been put completely through the wringer in the last few week so it's understandable that he was far from his best last night. He'll be a good addition to the team; not a saviour, but a good, solid, classy contributor.
  24. 3 of the 4 preliminary finalists are playing very average football. So many clubs will be looking at this years as a big missed opportunity. (Richmond will win at a canter)
