  1. This article was written in April, so I think that was referencing an area to improve on for the season ahead. No idea if he has or not. I quite like Knightmare’s espn reports as they often spend a bit of time on the player’s flaws and don’t just claim every 17yo in the next Chris Judd like most draft articles.
  2. He’s a restricted free agent as far as I’m aware... https://www.google.com.hk/amp/s/coupler.foxsports.com.au/api/v1/article/amp/afl/afl-free-agents-2019-updated-list-of-restricted-and-unrestricted-free-agents-revealed/news-story/34a03922d5f74bd43177e70f9b4c027b
  3. Saints paid a high price to get him over in the first place. That, coupled with the fact that they're rumoured to be into Hill, suggests they might be looking for some top picks. We paid a top five pick for May, so Saints may think there's some currency for a 200cm KPD/KPF. Doubt he would be coming cheap.
  4. It seems a bit of a stretch. Salem re-signs in March, then without any rumour at all, seeks a trade in Day 1 of the off-season. https://www.triplem.com.au/story/christian-salem-signs-two-year-contract-extension-with-melbourne-130712 . Salem said he couldn't see himself not re-signing with Melbourne. “It got done pretty quickly,” he told Melbourne Media. “I probably wasn’t too fussed about it, as I knew it was going to happen eventually – it was just a matter of when. I can't recall a big trade coming without months of rumour leading into it...
  5. Which Facebook group? Just looked at a few (mostly garbage ones) and saw nothing.
  6. Is there smoke though..? Christian Petracca supposedly met, in person, with the Geelong staff and players, in August... and nothing leaked in the media at all..? Not even a twitter post from a shady journo. When Boak met with them (the comparison made in the OP), it was proclaimed left right and center all over the media.
  7. People perhaps getting a little carried away here... the OP is hardly full of detail or citing sources.
  8. There's clearly been some chatter between his management and the club about where they see him playing in the coming years. Looks like he's wanting more midfield time, whilst looks like the club's response is get fitter. https://www.triplem.com.au/story/tom-browne-s-mail-on-christian-petracca-s-meeting-with-melbourne-146322 https://www.3aw.com.au/simon-goodwin-and-the-challenge-for-christian-petracca-this-summer/ Thought Petracca played very well yesterday through the middle. Looks like he, just like the supporters, is a little frustrated that he hasn't come on quite like we thought he would. Certainly a good player, but not yet the star he looked destined to become. Big preseason ahead.
  9. And of course two weeks prior to that Weid misses a kick after the siren to win against Adelaide. The reason we haven’t copped the media heat and scrutiny this season is because, as bad as we’ve played, we haven’t been annihilated week after week.
  10. Followed him in his draft year and was a big fan of his brother. Haven’t seen him play at senior level and was surprised to read Nth fans potting him recently. There’s a knock on his intensity and agility to play key defence. (Similar criticisms have been levelled at Petty) The kid’s a beast and may be worth a look, whilst not directly addressing a key need on field.
  11. If Petracca plays forward again next year, he needs to be the one that steps up to help McDonald on the score board. Personally, i’d rather him get super-fit and play midfield. But if he’s staying forward, there’s no reason why a player of his talent and ability can’t kick well over 40 goals in a season. That’s not to discount Weideman- it’s just that when you look at our forward line talent, Petracca is under performing in regards to scoreboard impact.
  12. ANB interested in a flight home..?
  13. I respect our female staff and volunteers too much.
  14. In Mahoney’s time at the club we have been through a huge range of leaders, from Presidents, to CEOs to Coaches. All of them have had the opportunity to remove Mahoney, but none of them have- to the contrary, he’s been consistently promoted. If Peter Jackson and Paul Roos were both happy to at first retain him, then develop and promote home- then he’s fine by me.
  15. Yes. 1000% yes. With a new year come limitless possibilities. Without that hope, what’s the point?
  16. And if we lost New Balance? Where would your blame lie..? Marketing and sponsorship is a significant element of Pert’s role.
  17. Current football department issues aren't Pert's fault. The club's response in the coming months are for what he should be judged. New Balanced signed on for three more years; he's had a good week.
  18. I tend to agree with him. Hoping for a a Geelong 2006-07 or Tigers 2016-17 turnaround this off season.
  19. Over coached. Took the instinct, joy and spontaneity out of the game. In addition, there’s the intense pressure that comes with being part of a club like Carlton. They, more than any other club, have a messiah complex. Whether it’s ‘highly rated’ draftees or players they’ve sold the farm to trade in. They mount all their collective anxieties onto a few. Pagan, Judd, Stevens, Gibbs (leadership group in 1st season), Thomas. Then the absurdity of believing that trading in the Giant’s 2nds team would lead to success. Even the Stoker trade puts immense pressure on Bolton and the players to perform. Once a couple of losses pile up, the pressure becomes intense.
  20. I feel we’ve been promised this for a while...
  21. They should... but their and our history shows that it is much easier said than done. Having potential doesn’t guarantee success, just as being the hunter is significantly easier than the hunted. No one will take them lightly next year, so will be interesting to see how they cope with the pressure.
  22. Yup. Pick 1: Jack Martin Pick 2: Jesse Hogan
  23. Very tight-lipped when Scully, Frawley, Rivers, Howe, Moloney, Sylvia and Hogan left...
  24. GWS went into the 2012 draft with 1,2 and 3 after trading in picks 2 and 3 from Melbourne and GCS in exchange for their mini-draft selections. Shows what an unbelievable advantage they were given as a start-up compared the GCS initial concessions. The two mini-drafts were more than excessive. They bombed the picks though with Whitfield (tick), O'Rourke and Plowman.
  25. Is he a free agent?
