  1. Wow - I had no idea he was that old! Where have the years gone?!
  2. DFA- absolutely.
  3. The kid can play so there must be something more going on for him to be cut before the season is over. This has bright-red-sparkly-alarm-bells ringing all around it.
  4. I think it worked well at Melbourne - as in, it was a harmonious hand over from Roos to Goodwin. It succeeded at Melbourne as it was the coach (Roos) idea and is what he pushed for. It completely failed at Collingwood as it was imposed on the coach (Malthouse).
  5. I was referring to being dropped for the first final after playing every game, seeing that he was not a re-signing priority of the Giants and making the the decision to leave the club he's been at for 8 seasons. Tomlinson as a founding player, has played the fifth most games of any GWS player. It's been a big part of his life and to be leaving would have to have some effect.
  6. A no from me. Alan Richardson, whilst not getting the wins on the board, never seemed to have 'lost' the players. Pyke on the other hand, whilst at the helm of a very strong list, oversaw a tumultuous reign at the crows, where year after year we heard tales of player discontent.
  7. My view of Tomlinson hasn't changed after last night's match. He has been put completely through the wringer in the last few week so it's understandable that he was far from his best last night. He'll be a good addition to the team; not a saviour, but a good, solid, classy contributor.
  8. 3 of the 4 preliminary finalists are playing very average football. So many clubs will be looking at this years as a big missed opportunity. (Richmond will win at a canter)
  9. Too soon.
  10. Dangerfield is happy for one of the ‘best’ players to clean him up. So Lachie Neale is welcome to punch him in the face, without any recriminations.
  11. Yes. Yes please.
  12. If we were to split the pick, I would very happily hand one of them over form Laird. 25 years old, 2 x All Australian, Best and Fairest winner, prolific ball winner and good user of the ball out of defence... sounds like what we've been crying out for for 10 years.
  13. Whilst I don't want Frost to go, I would be interested to see what could come back the other way...
  14. I understand the people who are saying he doesn't necessarily address our need for outside speed. His arrival could free up someone whose pace and disposal isn't being used to full effect (ie. Melksham) into a more damaging position. However, even if he dislodges one player from our current best 22, then he improves our team. I'm very happy to have any quality player (especially a free agent) who wants to join our club.
  15. Adds another layer to an absolute tragedy.
  16. I rate him very highly as a player and was wrapped when he came to the club as he possess the polish and outside-skill that we've been missing. It's very concerning to see the effect that some fairly innocuous knocks have had on him.
  17. We've had Leading Teams in on a few occasions I believe, even as far back as Neeld era. They were in over the 2016 pre-season, we then hired their facilitator (Jim Plunkett) as our General Manager, People Performance & Culture at the end of the year. So 'Leading Teams' philosophy has been there for the last three seasons. https://www.leadingteams.net.au/jim-plunkett-join-dees/ https://www.leadingteams.net.au/leading-teams-at-the-melbourne-football-club-pre-season-camp/
  18. Would this be our first free agent signing since Shannon Byrnes?
  19. Hore is a very good mature-age pick-up. Goodwin seemed reluctant to play him and Lever in the same backline, so hopefully there’s a role for him down there in the future. Lockhart did exceptionally well for someone with no AFL preseason or conditioning. To step straight in and play as well as he did, showed he’s got some talent and heart. No surprises that he ran out of puff though. All the kids... was good for three of them to get some games experience. We’ll know more in 2 years.
  20. I’m really struggling watching on the TV. How could the two clubs not want to fix this??
  21. Is this true? I’ve heard it mentioned but no idea where it comes from. Clubs are in contact with dozens of players during the year; is the suggestion that we never once spoke with him?
  22. He's a bit of an enigma - definitely an untapped talent with all the makings of a very good player. To this stage, he has been comfortably 'good'. I've been keen for us to go after him as a free agent as he would add some much needed class and run to our side. The concern is that in 8 seasons, he's never really cemented a position on the ground. He's played forward, back and wing with some success, but has lacked the consistency and ball-winning ability to be considered a top player. Reminds me a little bit of Jack Watts in that regard.
  23. Ha! That’s a stretch. "Personally, I weighed up a lot, and eventually found some perspective," Jones told the Melbourne website.
  24. Jeebus, it’s not a race. And I suggest if we’re looking for role-models for how to run a club, Adelaide should be close to last on that list.
