  1. Some would say that a goal in the third along with others at the 12 and 21 minute marks of the fourth could have been 'match winning' times to kick goals. If every forward took their chances like Watts yesterday, we could have run over the top of them.
  2. Thankfully, it sounds like the club is being very sensible/conservative with its approach. Sounds like the knock yesterday was on the mild side but he was kept out as a precaution. Give him all the time he needs. http://m.afl.com.au/news/2016-05-15/demon-angus-brayshaw-concussed-for-second-match-in-succession
  3. In addition... If Roos believed he was going he'd fattening Hogan up for a trade by trotting out the lines like: 'He's the best young player in the league...' 'A required player...' 'Very special, once in a generation talent...'
  4. Agreed. He said when he was appointed that he wasn't going to be a president in the spotlight. Everyone thing appears to be running efficiently and harmoniously under his charge.
  5. Agreed, it all a ruse to get the price up and add a year. If he's asking for four and they're offering 2... it'll be three. If they're offering 300,000 and he's asking for 500,000, surprise, surprise! Happens every year.
  6. I think we've had a pretty generous draw, however we have played interstate twice and played the top of the table team along with the 5th placed team.
  7. Very good news. Would cost us next to nothing and he is a serviceable, big bodied, competitive insurance policy until our ruck stocks develop.
  8. Agreed. Even bigfooty of all places wasn't discussing it last night while Demonland burned. We seem to be the only ones freaking out about this.
  9. Of course he's going to say it's not about the money- who, in their right mind, would say to the media: 'My next contract is gonna all be about the money.' The media line that every player has given for the past month is 'the MFC is a great place to be.' That's the current PR focus of the club.
  10. Essendon, Carlton and Melbourne were well into Oliver by November. http://m.afl.com.au/news/2015-10-31/morrish-medallist-clayton-oliver-adds-top10-twist http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/draft/afl-draft-2015-melbourne-considers-clayton-oliver-with-first-pick-plays-like-ollie-wines/news-story/7b4555f328ea9161f23cd8083ee76fe5 http://m.essendonfc.com.au/news/2015-11-17/the-contenders-part-one https://mobile.twitter.com/EssendonFC/status/666503589825806337
  11. Hogan being allowed to visit home occasionally is often cited as one of the reasons he and his family are very happy with the MFC.
  12. I would have thought it was sarcasm coupled with some average journalism.
  13. The wording of the article is fine, the misquoting in the OP is what has caused the confusion.
  14. My recollection of this trade period was Essendon was all over Oliver. We needed to get a pick ahead of them when we realised he wouldn't bet there by the time our first pick came along.
  15. Scared of the ball, scared of the opposition, scared of getting hurt, scared of hurting others... otherwise pretty handy.
  16. Hurley is an out-and-out gun. If he were even slightly interested in coming to Melbourne, you'd just have to find a way to make it work. However I see great potential in both JrMac and Frost and can see them, along with a cohesive defensive unit and two way running in the midfield, as being a good core of talls going forward.
  17. I believe we've tried to get Jr back to the club in a coaching capacity the past, but haven't been able to persuade him. I wonder if Daniel Cross has assistant coaching ambitions? Would think he'd have a very good grasp of what's required.
  18. I think we'd be helped by everyone getting out and doing a rain dance Sunday morning. Bulldogs are a very good, but young team; the venue is the biggest advantage we have.
  19. Two things that stood out for me in the match: 1) The amount of goals that were given-off / given away by players to their team mates. Very often during the game players were taking possession of the ball in poitions where the goal was kick-able. Instead they were giving off to team mates in better positions and making a certainty of it. This is a sign of a team playing for each other and not for themselves. 2) I don't mind our 'clash socks'
  20. The sad reality is, now that this thread exists, people are actually going to use it anytime he has a bad game in his first 50. (I could have even written 'bad kick in his first 50 games)
  21. Agreed. It's almost as though people are angry at him for not being more talented. I'll gladly pot a player for not putting in effort, but this has never been a criticism of Dawes. He is an exemplary trainer, takes younger players under his wing and puts in on match day; it's just that he wasn't as blessed as some on our list with huge talent.
  22. That's a fantastic effort - hopefully Jetta mrk 2.
  23. It's interesting that most clubs (Melbourne, Adelaide, Richmond, Port) have the 'R' for Recognise, while it appears that Hawthorn and Essendon don't.
