  1. Well, take this week for example; as he is the emergency he would take the position of any midfielder or flanker who is injured or sick. That's on form, not sentiment. Next year, after a full preseason he could take the spot of anyone in the team he has that much talent and passion. The way he has come back from this 'career ending' injury, I wouldn't count anything out for him.
  2. That's great news. I think he's a great player to help our list going forward. Just as importantly however is keeping his presence and leadership around the club. He's a popular, highly respected figure in the playing group, and cutting a person of that calibre after what he's been through can be like poison to a playing list. Go Trenners!
  3. Would love to see him get some midfield time; he's hard, poised and and has excellent skills by hand and foot. Failing that, would like to see him in a bit of space on the wing. The breakaway pace of Hunt on one, with the laser foot of Salem on the other- forwards will be climbing over themselves. Much will depend on getting his treatment right so he can hopefully get a proper run at the full preseason.
  4. Named this week. Always a soft spot for Fitz and especially happy to see him back after his concussion issues. Wont be cheering Hawthorn but will be cheering the 'almost cult hero' Jack Fitzpatrick.
  5. I would say there's a role for at least one of our two best players at Casey, especially considering we've had an injury list of basically zero all year.
  6. I think about how a few stars who were deemed 'past it' have fared over the last few seasons: Stevie J, James Kelly even Chapman's first year at Essendon... These give me pause for thought.
  7. Would like to think that Viney and Watts would both be chances for the squad, but Maxy is the only one I think will make the actual team. (He's a certainty)
  8. Some interesting selections in the squad... Kolojashnij (Geelong), Dunstan, Matt Crouch, Crisp and Sicily all stand out to me as being well off the pace of the others there.
  9. http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/22under22-squad-2016-adelaide-dominates-with-seven-players-named-in-the-50man-squad/news-story/ac19ceda882272fec6cbf72e9c753a1f Not to spoil the surprise: Kent, Hogan, Petracca, Viney and everyone's under appreciated favourite... J.Hunt.
  10. It wasn't as simple as Howe for Kennedy though.
  11. I agree, but we need to try him in their for his own development's sake. He's an accumulator at Casey but hasn't had the chance to even get a look at the pace of the centre square in the seniors. Clarry can play a game off half forward- good overhead, good speed and can kick a goal. We need the players to go into the preseason knowing the level that's needed of them to take the next step.
  12. I'm a big wrap for Harmes; he's always willing to take the game on. In addition I'd like to see some positional changes- would love to see ANB and VDB have some decent time on the ball and Hunt have a game on the wing. Of course my heart also would love to see Trengove back in the team.
  13. You're absolutely right, but gee... Still hurts.
  14. Have a little rule that I wait a day before posting after a bad loss... but that is just shattering. We had a real opportunity to at least go into the preseason with nothing and no one to fear... but that's shot for now. The best I suppose we can hope for after a loss like that is that it spurs the players into action and steels their resolve, but I've seen too many losses like that and it's had the opposite effect.
  15. Coupled with the sub rule; that thing was poison for developing players' confidence.
  16. I've never seen a player have so much bad luck on the field as Toumpas; the ball just never seems to bounce his way. Sadly, doesn't look up to the intensity.
  17. Braysure was a troll who would offer an Essendon point of view to every discussion he participated in. Hurley singing at Essendon is Braysure fluking a guess at what was going to happen amongst all his other incoherent ravings. In fact, as Hurley was always favoured to stay at Essendon, it's hardly a commendable piece of guesswork.
  18. A very average/lucky team is going to win the Grand Final this year. While the season's been even and exciting, there isn't the high quality team or two that we've enjoyed watching for the last ten years. Someone's gonna get lucky.
  19. Loved the Orange Organics! Got the 'C'mon Demons' record at home too- very catchy tune IMHO.
  20. I think it was 2005 we scraped into the finals after some late year heroics- only to collapse after exhausting ourselves physically and emotionally just to get there. The bye could be a huge blessing for us if everything else goes our way.
  21. Aaaaaaaand it's gone... Hopefully I didn't ruin the joke for everyone.
  22. Gawn and Salem flew out of the country this morning according to Max's Instagram... Anyone know to where or why..???
  23. As they're contracted players, I'm not sure they'd want to leave. They've spent their entire careers at a basketcase club, why would they want to join another one just as the Dees are coming good?
  24. Never heard of the NAB Academy... Is that a rebranded AIS academy?? In regards to the OP, taking my red and blue blinkers off, I would say that for a young player, required to play first ruck, Grundy's had a excellent start to his career.
  25. Best and Fairest count on Tuesday the 6th of September could be interesting...
