The Ruck Conundrum
We all know a back up ruck is an absolute must this off season, so I'm keen to get people's thoughts on who we could target. Some names that we can potentially look at: - Liam Reidy from Fremantle - 204cm and 24 years old. Given they have Darcy and Jackson on long term deals his chance of playing are basically zero. Could we look to entice him over noting this? - Tim English - if he genuienly looking at leaving could we get him in to play more forward next year or two and then be full time ruck once Gawn retires? Unlikely I would think but maybe worth thinking about. - Hamish Free from North - 203cm and 26 years old behind Xerri. Don't think he would be great but maybe worth it as a back up? Would love to know any others but we really need to replace Schache's spot on the list with a genuine back up ruck

Trade Targets
It means they feel billings is better suited for their plans this week than Laurie. Laurie is contracted for 2 more years so they must see some type of future for him, even if it is as a 25th/26th man

Wildcard Weekend
Exactly how I feel

Wildcard Weekend
This will mean whoever finishes 7 or 8 has an even less chance of winning the flag and will likely create very 1 sided games the following week in 5 v 8 and 6 v 7. Imagine playing the 24 game regular season, then having to play another game while the other teams rest and you crack in just for the privilege to play them.... stupid

Wildcard Weekend
I hate it…. It’s a long enough season as it is.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
What’s with those green dragons?

Trade Targets
No way Lobb and Peatling are walking straight into our side.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
The thing I find most interesting is the different rankings being presented are quite different, which bodes well for picking some late gems. Must be a very even but deep draft from the different views of the 'experts'.

Trade Targets
Agree with this, but I think Cumming would replace a Bowey or AMW quite comfortably.

Screwed by the AFL again
Totally agree with this and it’s the reason the hawks won 3 straight flags, but it’s not the same as the NGA stuff

NGA Rule changes mooted
I understand why people are angry, but I think as DD36 says we do need to look at the big picture and I think continuing to grow the game is the important thing. I do hope the AFL put safeguards in place so someone can’t just move to an area late in their junior time and join a club. For instance, they should have to be in the academy for a minimum of 3 years or something.

NGA Rule changes mooted
100% agree. It was such a short sighted move at the time. The whole reason for those academies was to increase the likelihood of indigenous and kids that come from non-footballing backgrounds into the AFL

Screwed by the AFL again
We were able to take Jack Viney with a pick in the 20s when he was bid on at 7, not long before they changed it to bidding. so we don’t always get screwed
-
Screwed by the AFL again
It was a knee jerk reaction by the Australian knee jerk league, however I’m pretty sure we got JVR with that pick so I still think we won that one… time to move on

Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
Reid is ineligible as he was suspended.... stupid rule I know
-
Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
That list is only 1st year rookies, so doesn't include players who are eligible but have been on a list longer than 1 season. Current favourite is George Wardlaw and Oliver Dempsey is 2nd favourite. Windsor is paying $15! So maybe worth a punt, but I'd be surprised if Wardlaw doesn't win. The AFL will want North to have something!

Trade Targets
What a load of rubbish. This club has supported him and as long as he is continuing to be a good teammate on and off the field we will continue to, because that’s what strong clubs do.

Goody is a genius!!!
Goody and the club really aren't getting enough credit for getting us into the frame for another finals run. We've had to deal with: - Constant Herald Sun articles questioning our culture and all the other stuff - Legal issues with the board and he who shall not be named - Angus Brayshaw our heart and sole leader retiring on the eve of the season - Joel Smith being unavailable for reasons we all know - Our best player in Trac coping a season ending injury and internal injury at that which adds extra stress I'm sure - Playing 10 players under 23 in our best 23 and still winning games

Disco Turner’s New Deal
Agreed. Plus Jefferson may also come into contention from next year but I see him as more a third tall similar to Fritsch
-
Disco Turner’s New Deal
I think he will eventually move back if he stays with us. If TMac wasn't in career best form he would probably have already moved back there....
