Pretty sure it's been confirmed Smith was almost across the line with us and then decided on Geelong late. He made a joke about it on the radio how after the prelim we belted them and how it cost him another flag and money because he took less at Geelong.

I find rumours of players being unhappy (not including Trac) hard to believe given everyone has re-signed recently, including a player in Petty who the media were 100% was going back to Adelaide. Langdon has signed for 4 more years, Kolt and Windsor have both signed long term extensions. I could definitely see Tomlinson being unhappy given we hardly play him... but hard to see who else would be. Time will tell though if players start asking for trades then maybe there is truth to it.

Probably why the majority of 200cm+ players in the AFL aren't athletic.... better to go play basketball and earn way more money!

He would improve our forward 50 entries as a roaming CHF. Worth a look dependant on the cost.

It is hard to compare because when a player is OOC then the club is a little at the mercy of the club nominated, whereas as Houston is contracted Port don’t have to trade. I think a lot will come down to Port’s plans with incoming players and their salary cap, so we may negotiate a bit harder if we feel they need his salary off their books to secure their target.

I actually hope we play Ben Brown for his final game. He was a huge part of the 2021 flag and deserves a final game. They should put him in cotton wool and just bring him in for that game. I reckon the players would really try get up for him.

100%. Imagine a coach giving up on his players? Just because he knows that finals are unlikely doesn’t mean he shouldn’t turn up trying to win every game.

I remember an AFL player was a client at a company I work at and he was a pretty high profile player. I saw his annual salary and it was less than I thought he would've been getting....

I think we need to find a genuine lockdown defender for the smalls to release McVee. Playing half back and some mid time is fine for him and that's what Sheezel and Daicos do.

There aren't many blokes 203cm who are super quick...

If Wright is looking for a fresh start and Bombers want him off their books I’m all for it. He’s contracted until 2027 so guessing we would take on the full salary but maybe only give a third round pick or something. Given we have Brown, Schache, Tomlinson and potentially TMac all off our list we need some mature key position players to replace them.

He's only 21 years old though, so has plenty of growth left in his game. A lot of American players don't even get drafted until that age and he's already played 2-3 seasons.

I did say earlier that I’d like us to keep our powder dry, but as long as it isn’t two first rounders I would be happy as he would make us instantly better. Who knows, maybe we can still go after Callaghan next year or get someone just as good in the top 10 of the draft This year

I can see one of two options: - we trade next years first plus probably a 2nd rounder for Houston (probably other pick swaps involved) - We trade our likely pick 6/7 plus a later pick for two first rounders (Freo most likely) and use one towards Houston plus other pick swaps. If Port have a Cumming or Perryman already coming via free agency they may then do the deal as they replace Houston and get picks. I can’t see us offering 2 first rounders due to his age. I would be pumped to get him though and he would instantly improve our kicking skills and make us more dynamic.

I wonder if the power going after Perryman or Cumming means they will be ok to let him go?
