  1. Is Ben Brown being rested because of the exhaustion of carrying his 2 kids through the banner? Not a chance in Demonland of BBB getting rested for Weid.
  2. When players are "kicking for touch" in the rugby codes, they are generally facing the sideline to where they are kicking, and may only have frontal pressure from the opposition. The point that Sue rightfully makes is that a player may 2 metres away from the boundary with pressure around him, and is penalised even if he kicks it straight up the line, but the ball bounces out. It's becoming a farce.
  3. I'm not sure if this is a p155take, but it's sad if true. Even if T Mac's out injured, Weid is no certainty to replace him.
  4. Krakouer's coming across as sanctimonious, which he's in no position to be. Totally relevant.
  5. Andrew Krakouer, the pillar of society who's never done anything wrong. Whatever was said or done to HL pales into insignificance compared to Andrew Krakouer's crimes.
  6. Nah. Brisbane's loss to the Hawks is equitable to our loss to the Crows last year. They'll still be hard to beat. Freo on the other hand just don't have the talent.
  7. Surely they could have used the "Narrmy Army" chant.
  8. Imagine if you were a Lions or Dockers supporter this weekend. Your membership would be in the microwave, and you'd be calling for Fagan and Longmuir to be sacked.
  9. The issue is in his head, not knee. On the club's Instagram, they show a clip of Trac in the warm up drilling a set shot from the same position where fluffed the around the corner kick. In the warmup though he kicked a regular drop punt.
  10. It's been part of our game plan and success for the past 18 months. If forwards lead straight up the middle, it's more difficult to defend if there's a turnover. Our game plan is built around defence first. If we hold our structures and win contested possession, we give ourselves enough chances to score, whilst limiting the opposition.
  11. Some seem to forget that we are playing against an opposition. Most teams are coming at us with a mindset of disrupting our game plan. As yet, no team has cracked us. Aside from Oliver, and to a lesser extent Lever and May, it was hard finding good players for us yesterday. Even Trac was sloppy and wasteful. But one thing you can't question about this team is effort. That's what grinds the opposition into the ground, rather than our pure talent or brilliance. Gut running isn't measured on the stats sheet, but it's an underrated quality of our players. Goodwin would be rapt with the way we're tracking, because he knows there's room for improvement. We haven't reached the halfway point of the season, and we are still building towards our best. Freo will be a test, but I see the game being a slogfest. Would love to be playing Carlton or Brisbane next week, just to see if we lift up a gear against the 2 other form teams.
  12. Irving Mosquito was another.
  13. Melksham has been selected on merit, and isn't getting gifted a chance to play his 200th. The last 2 games he's played against WC rd 22 last year and the Hawks this year, he's played well. And he replaces a half forward in Harmes. Bedford was only selected for our starting 22 when Kossie was out. Those arguing that Bedford should be selected because he's younger are barking up the wrong tree. It's like those who continue to argue that we should be resting players against weaker opposition. Goody once again stated in his presser that we are still trying to perfect our synergies. When Viney was out, Dunstan came in. Selection has always been like for like, especially when we've had a ready made replacement in form.
  14. Interstater?
  15. Agree. Players that are in the 15-23 bracket who are out of contract, may be happy with the security of signing for additional years but less money in order to keep the list together.
  16. TBC is the new 4-6.
  17. Not the entire media, just Kelli Underwood. Didn't you know that JVR's VFL game against North was an audition for the WCE.
  18. Jeez I hope Jack doesn't finish the year like Chris Paul, who was garbage in the last 5 games of the Dallas series.
  19. Yze mentioned in a pre-season podcast that Jack is an elite kick, but due to all his foot problems in the past, had never been able to practice his kicking. This was the first full pre-season that Jack has completed. Many on here had accused Jack of being someone who butchers the ball. This year both his decision making and execution have been elite. This was demonstrated with his pass to Fritsch in the last qtr against the Eagles. Pavlich mentioned how smart it was that Jack took a bounce because there were no clear options upfield. He then drilled a perfect kick to Fritsch. Jack is having a great season, and goes under the radar. I'm glad that Jordan Lewis gave him BOG, because I thought that his disposal and tackling was superior to that of Clarry and Trac. He deserves the recognition.
  20. When you tackle a player from behind, you have 2 options. First option is to go to your knees so the tackled player is held upright with his armed pinned. Second option is to turn the player in the tackle without letting go, so it's not deemed a sling. Unfortunately for Chandler, he chose neither, so his actions were reckless/dangerous. He'll cop a week with an early plea.
  21. Agree. I thought Petracca and Oliver were going at 50% and were poor defensively. 6. Viney 5. Jordon 4. Brayshaw 3. Kossie 2. McDonald 1. Rivers
  22. I don't know about others, but when I'm watching Casey games, I'm looking at how a players' performance translates at AFL level. All the observations about Weid were fair. He's still not strong at the contest. His second efforts are poor. Why do you think that Tmac has been preferred? Anyone who watched the game would have come away thinking that JVR is more worthy of promotion than Weid.
  23. The commentator made a really good observation of JVR. He engages in the contest early and has the strength to hold his ground. He's also capable at ground level. He's going to be a star, and IMO he'd have a greater impact at AFL level this year than Weid. Should BBB get injured, or Tmac loses form, JVR should be next in line.
  24. Only 5 North listed players playing compared to 13 Dees listed. Casey should romp it in. Some observations based on how their game translates to AFL level: Dunstan - A class above. JVR - Super impressive in the air. Always in the right position when flying for marks. Set up 2 goals at ground level also. Was beaten twice by Marty Hore at ground level in a one-on-one contest. Daw - If Max gets injured, Majak is ready to to go. He's getting around the ground fine. Weid - Is playing well, but has been out-positioned in marking contests on occasions. He doesn't have the presence of T Mac, or JVR for that matter. Bedford - Nice to see him starting in the midfield. Getting excellent service from Daw and Bell. Has been good, but not a standout. Tomlinson - Of the senior players, he's been the most disappointing. Playing loose man in the backline, he's racking up huge possessions, but defensively he's been poor. I've seen him caught out of position 4 times, two of which resulted in North goals. Then got caught holding the ball resulting in another goal. Baker - VFL level only. Of the kids, Turner has impressed. Woey and McVee look ok. Laurie, Rosman and Smith have been quiet. Shoutout to the commentators. Best VFL callers this year.
  25. Jake Bell would be a perfect player to have on our list as a developing ruckman. His skills are really good.
