Yes, it was an attempt to negate his influence. Let's hope Max deals with this rubbish just as well as Jeff did. #FreeMaxy

Can anyone recall when the ruck circle was introduced, who the dominant ruck of the time was?

Yes would definitely rather keep ANB, however if he was to be used to bring in Kelly, that's a whole new ball game. If he were to be traded as part of a Lever deal I think it would leave a hole in the midfield, but Kelly would be a major upgrade, even though I rate ANB. ANB and Frost are obviously the keys to this off season at this stage. Does anyone know if they're holding out for a better contract or to go elsewhere? ANB homesick? Frost brosick?

Unless they're all scheduled in the Sunday twilight slot.

How many current and past players read/post on Demonland?

Liar! You're Bruce Macavaney -
He's a contract year footballer, so unless you had him on rolling one year contracts you just wouldn't get the output you want.

Umpiring of MFC games very questionable
FireInTheBennelly replied to SFebes's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's fairly clear they think the vast majority of footy fans are dumb as dogs you know what. They're getting away with it, so it looks like they are correct in that assessment. -

Wouldn't that undermine Kim Jong-Gil? -
Umpiring of MFC games very questionable

Well this is the question for mine. If they've created a whole new interpretation just to screw over one particular player, have they A) Gone into the game watching for this action (i.e. watched some video and determined this is the best way to ping him), or B) Gone into the game with a directive to shut him down and it was all up to Haydos to sort them out after the fact with some crazy made-up rubbish? Either way it's a pretty ordinary look for the game, yet they're getting away with it. Can't wait to see all the extra centre bounce free kicks from now on. Tell your rucks, if the bounce is sitting on the oppo rucks head, jump into him and he'll automatically protect himself and be pinged. -

So, just to clarify and make it easier for Joe Public, they gave the reference to the actual rule that was being broken right? Nope. Does anyone know if this rule is actually written anywhere stating that ruckmen cannot fend with a straight arm? Surely they would've given the reference for all involved to read for themselves, unless of course this is all made up drivel to suit their agenda. In layman's terms, it's a new 'interpretation', not a rule. -

I believe a few of the posters naming umpires Chamberlain and Nicholls should really be ashamed of themselves. For leaving out this silly looking [censored]! Umpire 28. Troy Pannell, he's just as bad as the rest, if not worse. From memory, it was this [censored] who was patting bulldogs players on the backside during a game last year. -
It's hard to follow sometimes. I'd imagine several of the 'welcome' crowd walked away from the game yesterday confused. If they were fair dinkum about following the game and learning the rules they've probably decided to stick to soccer after yesterday. So, if they don't dispose of the ball legally it's a free kick. But hang on.... If they hit a player in the head it's a free kick. But hang on.... Those two big guys both try to tap the ball. But hang on.... What've I missed?

I could have sworn if a player takes a running bounce, and one way or another gets tackled it's incorrect disposal / holding the ball. When Bruce had the bounce, muffed it, and was tackled, I was waiting for a whistle but none came. Have I completely cocked up that rule?

I know this might sound offensive to some, but let's reset for a minute and cheer on the Pies vs Port. Yes you'll feel dirty but you can have a thorough wash afterwards. Come on Pies, do it for figgy, and us .

It would be small shot of justice ending the Saints season today. Please let it be so.

Casey Demons v Northern Blues

Can anyone comment on Stretch's game so far? Is he getting plenty outside while getting it himself when needed? He's exactly what we need to improve our spread. He has to be close to a recall. -

That's his biggest problem now. Keep your eyes on the funeral notices in tomorrow's paper -
Ok, thanks Drunkn.

A question for those who were at the game. Did anyone see the injury to Pencil, or was he potentially 'put away' for next week against the Saints? I know it's unlikely, but I haven't been able to find any information on an injury.

I'm all for it Drunkn because I think we have a serious KPF issue, but can you give me some more info on Dec? Is he physically ahead of Weid? Can he get separation on a lead and take a grab? I can't remember the last time we had a forward capable of doing this regularly. How's his mobility? I've never seen him play, so would love to know more about him. He's a rookie isn't he? Do we have an upgrade available?

After being named as an emergency last week, surely Maynard has bashed the door down? Even with Jones and Vince coming back in. 13 tackles for Stretch is impressive as well, he must be getting closer. What was the knock on him, defensive pressure or clearances? It's a shame those stats don't mention clearances.
