Writing on the wall for Blease, Terlich, Mckenzie
-
I was listening to SEN the other night.. Dermie & the ox were talking about playing lists and players to get you to a flag. They said when you look at players when making a decsion on there future and people say "will he be part of the next premiership side ?" The answer is no but you need the player/s to be there now for the journey, there part of the development and they are best option for now. I look at Bail, M.Jones, Riley, Pedersen, Clisby, Terlich as players that fit that category. If we're going to win a flag these players can't be apart of it, but they can be apart of the now for we have no better options

No, I'm just not an impatient moron and can see why Toumpas has had a slow start to his career and can see his upside/potential
-
People need to get off Toumpas' case.. The kid had both hips operated on and then was thrown to the wolves in his first year when he should have spent a year at casey and playing a few senior games if form warranted it just like Salem this year. In the games he played this year he was far from disgraceful.. He obviously was sent back to casey to work on areas of his game that needed improvement which should have been ironed out last year, if not for the appendicitis he probably would be back in the side atm. The kid will be a good footballer and most importantly can kick the ball... Write him off at your peril becauseim backing him in to be a very good footballer for this club

The continuing saga of Melbourne's injury list - 2014
JV7 replied to alpha33's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hogan now listed as 1-4 weeks away.. Interesting if he will play this year. Melbourne injury list: round 20 Daniel Cross (leg) – available Jack Grimes (hamstring) – test Jesse Hogan (back) – 1-4 weeks Jayden Hunt (back) – 3-4 weeks Max King (knee) – available Jake Spencer (foot) – season Jack Trengove (foot) – season -
He has been really poor the past month, no one can question his pressure... Yes the delivery is terrible. But I made a thread after the dogs game Dawes doesn't do himself any favours. He just stands there puts his hand in the air and says put it on my head! A lot of the reason why we stuff around with the ball is because no'one is leading up at the kicker. Dawes is at his best when he leads up and can take it on his chest. I just think his that low on confidence he doesn't want/demand the footy This was my take on him following the bulldogs game 2nd time around : Any chance this bloke can get in front. Week after week he is caught behind, it drives me insane. The best games his played is when he is working hard and been hit up on the lead . He isn't a very good contested mark and time after time his caught behind his opponent or trying to wrestle them. When we have the ball around the centre line he just stands there and points to the air to sit it on his head... Chris your not that good in the air or one on one, get on your bike and lead to the kicker and provide an option to players coming forward

A forgotten man is mitch clisby... His form at casey has been pretty solid this year, did miss a large chunk of footy in the middle of the year but has been in good form since he came back and thought he could have got a run in grimes' spot on the weekend
-
There needs to be a serious clean out at years end.. Mckenzie- gone Blease- gone Strauss- gone Nicholson- gone Evans - gone I wouldn't be surprised if these guys aren't gone too : Terlich, Tapscott, Fitzpatrick, Bail(although he has played every game this yr)

Players to target at the end of the year
JV7 replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Anyone know what matt sucklings contract situation is ? Is the best kick in the comp... Wouldn't be against throwing him a 4 year deal at around $400k.. Would have to be a significant pay rise on his current wage and we'd be paying overs but I don't care, we need good ball users. Obviously we'd have to trade for him so makes it hard. -

Good... Means more money gone to try and keep malsexy -
OUT: Blease- cya buddy you got your chance and did sweet F all.. Mckenzie- dumb footballer, even worse kick. Terlich- when he gets 25 touches you know a 3rd of them will be useless/turn overs IN: Cross - self explanatory Michie- the blokes earnt another crack, see what his got Strauss- I'm not a fan but his put a couple of good games at casey together. It's now or never, roos has to give him a chance to prove his should remain on the list. Take terlichs spot at least he is a reasonable distributor of the ball

Which part of dunns game yesterday was consistent to his form most of the year ? I thought he was pathetic yesterday. Not sure if he played on Mcstay or Close because there both unknowns to me but he had one of them and either way he was soundly beaten by a kid who's played a handful of game... Agree with previous posts on bernie, he was lazy yesterday. His foot skills were appalling . Garland is a shadow of his former self. He did miss majoritity of the pre season so I'm hoping it's that. Jamar was beaten by a former club reject I hope watts is carrying some form of injury Sam Blease may aswell walk now.. Dumb, uses his pace to run into trouble rather than out of it and never uses it to run down/tackle anyone. Can't kick Thank Christ the NFL starts this weekend.

He will not be a good footballer until his realises his limitations, why he runs behind players looking for the handball to make the play, YOU CANT KICK FOR [censored] MATE!!! You can't even bounce or handball the ball properly. He is a good defender but until he realises he isn't nick malceski he will just be a turn over king. Why he chooses to try and baulk a player in the defensive 50 is beyond me. And what staggers me more is players who actually give him the ball when they have a free kick/mark, just stupid.

Good mail Jesse hogan was out last night well and truly enjoying himself.. Didn't look like a bloke doing everything to get the body in order for a game this year
-
Not in a million years would jonesy leave... Garland & Howe maybe

Players to target at the end of the year
JV7 replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was thinking today, isn't it funny.. If Brent moloney was never at melbourne I reckon we'd be talking him up as an experiences bigger body midfielder to help us out for a couple of years, the fact he was basically traded/let go means he'd never return.. I'm not advocating to get him but does anyone else think if he wasn't a former melbourne player we would be saying to get him ? -
Never doubt his commitment to the club.. 2 time premiership player, speak for itself. Wasn't the best signing in regards to on field, god knows why we didn't just pick him up in the PSD.. But only those inside the club would know he's true value and hopefully his passed on some great knowledge to the young blokes
-
I have read that he needs to sign a 4 year deal at a minimum of $600k for us to get band one compo
-
I can only find 8 games where we lead in the last.. Rnd 4 Carlton - won Rnd 7 adelaide - won Rnd 8 bulldogs - lost Rnd 9 Richmond- won Rnd 11 Port - lost Rnd 13 essendon- won Rnd 15 bulldogs- lost Rnd 18 port- lost So we are 8 games 4 wins & 4 losses which drops us a couple of spots & equal with the dogs ?

His a pretty good small rebounding defender, not sure his kicking skills are elite or not which would be one of the main reasons we'd try and get him. His just turned 26 so has plenty of time. I know the cats are interested aswell and as a free agent coming from a bottom side he might want to join a proven successful club -
His posted a couple of photos about him doing some running around his former junior club oval... Obviously more to do with keeping himself in shape rather then training for footy... I've given up hope of a Mitch return. We can only live in hope he does come back, interesting his coming back to melbourne though
-
Doms probably has had more stand out games but Vince has been more consistent. They both have been fantastic additions to the side. Dom would be ahead in B & F voting i think just on the fact his had more higher voting games
-
People saying his knee could blow out at any time... Well we gave up pick 12 for a bloke who played a handful of games for us, you never know what is around the corner, no point living in fear of hypotheticals.. His exactly the type of player we need and if he was interested in coming to us then we should be all for it

I'm not concerned one little bit about our scoring. That it was comes last, most afl coaches (I've heard bomber on AFL 360) say that you must learn to defend before you can attack and attack is the last piece to the puzzle... Look at north melbourne what's the point in scoring if you can't defend well, that's why there such an up & down side because sides can score easily against them and once they have a run on its hard to stop. As roos said ion FC last night, they've just started to introduce ball movement going forward the last 2 weeks. You can't do what neeld did and come in and say "when we have the ball do this and we don't have it do this" it confuses the players. Best way to teach is the fundamental of the modern game is defending and once they have grasped that concept you can move onto bringing in the attacking part of the game.
