  1. I think roosys plan is to teach them all how to defend first and then has slowly bought in the attacking aspect. Earlier in the year he said he was coaching at about %80 capacity but I think since about the collingwood game we have seen us scored more heavily against. I think this is due to roos bringing in a slightly more attacking style, which has upped the turnovers and seen us opened up a bit more and scored more against. I'd like to see first 1-12 round scores from turnovers compared to the last 6 weeks. I think roos has added a touch of attack but the skill level of the players aren't up to it
  2. Not sure if Michie will get a go until he learns his defensive side. Last week Brad miller said that viv is still struggling to carry out what there asking. Be interesting to see this weeks VFL write up. I think Blease has well and truly earnt a go, we need some leg speed and that showed against Geelong. It's now or never for Blease, he has to get a game to prove his worth keeping on the list. Last week roos said he was close so you'd assume his next in line. Tapscott as I've said in previous threads, just does nothing and provides nothing. IN : Blease OUT: Tapscott * Michie for Mckenzie if viv has worked on his deficiencies
  3. He was good earlier in the year when he was used solely as a defender, he then was moved up to tagging roles in the middle which he isn't good at. He is a pure defender and reads the play really well. I think his just down on confidence atm as a result of been used as a defensive mid which is not his go.
  4. We've already got inside mids in jones, viney, Tyson, Riley... We need outside run and brick McLean ain't that
  5. I've never seen him do anything. He had a good debut game against Sydney and since then his played what 40 odd games ? He actually does nothing, he would average about 10 touches a game over his career. He just can't get his hands on it. I've always been a fan and wanted him to be a player but unfortunately his just no good.
  6. We played in Alice springs prior to the collingwood game where the temp was bout 18 degrees.. Bit different to darwin where it's 30+ during the day and is around 25 during the game
  7. Nicholson had his papers stamped after one game.. Reckon Tapscotts not far behind him. He literally does nothing
  8. If only we had a side full of blokes with the effort and endeavour that Pedersen plays with!! For a big bloke gees he works and chases hard.
  9. Been a long time since I've seen us take on the cats at the G. Hoping for a competitive effort from the boys. Kent to be the sub. Hopefully Tappy can show some of his VFL form. Geelong too classy.. Cats by 23 points
  10. Here's one a bit left field.. Ash smith from West coast. Plays across half back and last couple of seasons been crulled by injury. He had a good season in 2011 when they made the prelim and hasn't had a good run at it since. Is a good kick and has pace, ran 2nd to watts in the 20m sprint at draft camp. At the time west coast got him in the 30s n were wrapt he slipped through. Has played 43 games and is only 23, could be what we need a skillful half back flanker.. His a dandenong stingray boy so could entice him back home
  11. Think he went overseas for couple of weeks
  12. Does anyone think roos moving chip back to defence over the last 2-3 weeks and has stated he'll say there means he could be staying ? It seems odd his played forward all year and all of a sudden they've moved him back. Seems like maybe roos has left him forward and thought il let the back 6 develope without chip and now maybe behind the scenes his agreed to terms his moved back to defence where roos sees him playing a role in the years to come ? I just find it odd why his moved back all of a sudden
  13. Anyone think John Butcher from port could be a option to replace clark up forward.. His still only young and has kicked 28 goals from 11 games in the SANFL. I remember one season might have been 2011 he finished the year with a bag of goals and looked to have found his place at AFL level but injuries/form and Schulz, westhoff form keeping him out. He was a top pick so he obviously has talent but his goal kicking was always an issue. I think he could be worth a punt if we didn't have to give much up for him.
  14. I guess when they trialled the ball hitting the post and coming back in it was play on in the NAB cup a few years ago but even that's been scrapped from the NAB cup. There's some merit in the ball hitting the inside of the post and still been a goal but as fustrating and annoying the goal system review is, I think once they get the proper technology it will be better. It's been a bit like the cricket review system, bought in to remove the howlers but is used in 50/50 situations which could go either way and players/supporters can deal with those ones if they go against you
  15. He has been very handy for the lions since his come back from injury. Averaging 20 touches, 30 hit outs, 4 tackles per game. I always thought he has potential and showed signs throughout 2010-2011 to show he could be a player.. Although Pedersen probably plays his role and better his a better ruck/forward option than Gawn and Fitzpatrick atm
  16. Your right on Gawn. I thought he was pathetic tonight, his 208cm or whatever and he gets out bodied/marked by Ibbotson(190cm, at best) he needs more of a presence up forward, he should at worst be able to bring the ball to ground more often then not just by his size. When came into the side against Richmond he did look dangerous up forward but since then he hasn't consistently shown much and for a bloke his size just isn't acceptable. IN: Jetta OUT: Gawn
  17. Also it shows in guys like Barry and Salem playing we have no depth in our playing list, it's only taken 2-3 injuries for us to be scrapping the bottom. Barry isn't up to it at this stage and ideally needs to be learning his craft at casey and same goes for Salem he has been quiet for the past month but there's no'one to replace him. Obviously Blease, Viv, Toumpas all have deficiencies in there game that need to be improved and Roos will not pick them until they change. Even a Dom Tyson could do with a rest but we can't afford to... We are another 2 good drafts off been a side challenging for the 8. I have a feeling roos might have to stick around awhile longer, this ain't gonna be a 2 minute turn around
  18. Until we an get some footballers who can use the ball well out of defence were going to struggle and turnovers will kill us. I've said it in previous threads but have been shot down, we need good kicks coming out of our backline. Guys like grimes, garland, Howe, Terlich are not good kicks
  19. That missed goal was [censored]..I never had confidence in him kicking it but kick that and the scores 17- 21, now look at it
  20. I'm sick of this [censored]
  21. The last 2 weeks I had a bad feeling heading into the game and was proven right. Tonight I don't expect a win but we'll be competitive, 2-3 goal loss I'm predicting. Darwin conditions don't really lend itself to big scores/losses, combine that with 2 sides which game plans built strongly on defense first. We'll be in the game up until 3 qrt time but fremantle will be too strong in the end. Aslong as we have a crack and were competitive, I'm happy.

    Chris Dawes

Never did I criticise his workrate, pressure, tackling or leadership all those aspects of his game are enormous for a key a forward! I'm just saying the last few weeks I have noticed he is trying to get the out the back to often and is more often then not playing from behind. Earlier in the year when he was in form he was presenting across half forward and leading up.

    Chris Dawes

I should have said he very rarely marks it one on one.. He definitely always makes a contest but most of the time he brings it to ground rarely.. And as you said we aren't blessed with crumbers atm. I also agree with you that our slower ball movement wouldn't help but too many times when we bring it forward his caught behind
  24. Any chance this bloke can get in front. Week after week he is caught behind, it drives me insane. The best games his played is when he is working hard and been hit up on the lead . He isn't a very good contested mark and time after time his caught behind his opponent or trying to wrestle them. When we have the ball around the centre line he just stands there and points to the air to sit it on his head... Chris your not that good in the air or one on one, get on your bike and lead to the kicker and provide an option to players coming forward
  25. Why people call for Matt jones to be dropped every week is beyond me. The bloke provides some run and genuine leg speed through the midfield and finds the footy, he makes some mistakes but who doesn't. Nicho has had his papers stamped today, his no good. Garland was terrible and I wouldn't be suprised if Georgiou comes in for him if TMac isn't right.
