  1. Really don't want us to drop to 0-2. As silly as it sounds having such a big game in round 2 but this side feeds off confidence, if we go 0-2 & the next month isn't exactly easy the group could drop their bundle & we could be 1-4 after 5. I'm interested to see how Goodwin & the playing group respond. Obviously it's seriously tough to win down there but the conditions actually may favour us, turn it into a contested slog. If we get our brand of footy going we'll be tough to beat it's just which Melbourne shows up.
  2. Very bizarre, I’ve hated Collingwood for my entire life. Could not stand Buckley as a player but I love him as a coach, wore the brunt of constant criticism & turned he’s side around. Every time he speaks he is levelled headed & speaks sense (if only the feral supporters followed suit). His coaching performance last night was brilliant, It feels odd but I have a new found liking & respect for the pies & bucks since about mid way through last season. Hats off to them. They’ll be flag favourites off the back of that performance but Richmond allowed Collingwood to get the game on their terms, it was a well coached & executed game plan but Richmond will learn a lot from last night.
  3. Because he's speed was so damaging in that passage of play in the last qrt where he burst through the middle, had no idea what to do then got pinged holding the ball & stupidly booted it away & gave away 50
  4. I'm not filled with confidence... Unless he's improved his fitness drastically in 7 days
  5. Was nervous this time last week when the sides were announced. Am so again this week, Frost lucky to keep his spot. Rushing KK in after 1 VFL practice match (sounds familiar) another debutant after getting a spot on the list 2 weeks ago ? Screams desperation
  6. We were 0-3 in 2006 & made the semi final... I am suprised with such a low % of 0-2 don’t make the 8. 0-2 isn’t exactly panic stations
  7. I’m sure people will tell me to shut up because I keep banging on about the same thing every time our lack of leg speed is bought up but as long as people keep bringing it up I will put my 2 cents in. I believe speed in AFL is completely overrated, the fastest way you can play football is by quick ball movement. Clean disposal by foot & quick chains of handballs. Our lack of speed is bought up every single time we have a bad loss or loss for that matter, we have been beaten in those games because we have not been aloud to play our style of football. Look at the total possession count from the weekend, we couldn’t get the footy off Port. I’d have a guess if you look at most of our “bad” losses over the past 2 years it would be we have been well beaten in the possession count, we just couldn’t get the ball of Port & control the game in any way. Another point on the speed factor, take frost or hunt for example. They take off a million miles an hour, burst away, kick long & turn it over, that footy is sling shot back inside our defence 50 by FOOT, not legs, I repeat GOOD foot skills not speed before Frost or Hunt could even turn around to defend. Agree we are not the fastest side in the comp, but we are playing football not racing a 100m sprint. Good ball use particularly by foot is what makes sides fast.
  8. I think we all acknowledge that we are slightly underdone at the moment, lots of post season surgeries, limited pre seasons, underdone players. My biggest disappointment is that we lost to Port at the G, that game is played in July I'd say we win it. For all we know Port may well be a better side than last year but unlikely, losing 4 points to an interstate side at the G is what is causing me angst... If we were Collingwood & lost to a Geelong, so be it. But Port at home, that stings
  9. Apart from the first 20 minutes we were nowhere. We looked short of a gallop, it felt like I was watching a practice match. It was a weird game of footy, in the end playing Jones & Viney off the back of one VFL practice match wasn't the right call, having said that Melksham was good so take the good with the bad I guess. What had me worried was when the side was announced Thursday the fact the likes of Hore & Wagner were named with Hunt & Spargo whos JLT form was only meh, we suddenly didn't look great on paper. Add it Jones & Viney underdone we've got 6 players with a big question mark. The usual consistent lot of Gawn, Oliver & Brayshaw were off... We just looked like the season had come to soon, I don't think we are a good enough side yet to be able to get away with not playing our best & scrapping a win. It's frustrating because a loss to a mid range interstate side at home should be 4 points. Big 3 weeks ahead, we have to go 2-2.
  10. Corey wagner to debut
  11. I couldn't careless what he does in his down time, just stating that this news hasn't come as a shock to a lot of people especially those in Perth.
  12. There are a couple Perth based dees fans on Twitter who have posted numerous times the murmurs around Hogans off season. All you have to do is follow his Instagram page & see most weekends he is out on the grog. I hope he can get himself together but it seems this hasn't just happened, obvious why we let him go
  13. Out of round 1 for Freo. Was out drinking Saturday night & missed training Sunday. Club says he is battling clinical anxiety https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-2019-fremantle-confirms-jesse-hogan-wont-play-in-round-1-no-fixed-timeline-for-return/news-story/cc99e4e77f91a90416866414c2498d25
  14. Not yet I'm actually a 6 year old...
  15. He clearly did do something wrong otherwise he wouldn't have been suspended. I don't agree with it but like I orginally said the AFL has in their eyes made the right call, we all can disagree with it but the end of the day May has got a week suspension... I personally would much prefer he doesn't do it & miss weeks than "play on or above the line" I think our contested style of footy speaks for itself, we don't need incidents like the weekend to be branded "tough"
  16. Yeah it's bull[censored] but let's take a positive it puts May on notice now, no doubt this won't have gone down well with the coaches or club leaders. The decision like it or not is the right one in the AFL eyes. Better that May learns he's lesson now then during the year when it could potentially be a worse scenario
  17. I've said this multiple times on this forum over the past 12 months. Leg speed is so overrated in football. It's all about ball movement, when we get our run game going & quick handballs we look slick & quick (passage in the 1st quarter where chain of hanballs through the middle & Hibberd fluffed the kick at goal from 50m is one example). Yesterday we turned the ball over by foot & by hand which made us look "slow" but disposal at this time of year is nothing to worry about. We do lack leg speed but people only bring this up when we don't play our way because the opposition doesn't let us not because we are slow.
  18. I'm checking out for 10 days... The overreacting on here is embarrassing. JLT means nothing, I have no less confidence in us then I did 2 weeks ago. We'll romp Port in 14 days time
  19. I'm heading up also... Looking at tickets at the moment. I prefer to sit up higher so looking at category 2 or 3 in & around the 310-312 bays. $71 for a category 2 ticket does seem a bit steep
  20. I have upgraded the membership to the reserved seating on level 1 this year.. Just wondering if this applies even though it's a replacement game ? Anyone know ?
  21. Drugs are obviously a huge problem in society not just AFL. Just because these footballers are elite athletes doesn't mean there any different to your average local footballer or tradie. At my local club you go out on a Saturday night with 20 blokes & 15 would be doing drugs, it's just the modern world. Yeah I get these players are paid good money to play football & represent the AFL & club but I guarante that's the furthest thing from their mind on a weekend... I work with people who do drugs & we are subject to random drug tests & its one strike and your out, yet they run the gaunlet, could only imagine what some would do with 2 strikes. Plus the league bosses aren't far behind the players, anyone who thinks their ammune to it are kidding themsleves.. I know for a fact one of our players has pulled his head in over the past 18 months & he's output has skyrocketed.
  22. He's comments re McDonald don't ring true. This time last year McDonald had played majority of the back half of 2017 as a forward and quiet well, stupid comment to say "he wouldn't be on the list as a CHB". I love McDonald as forward but he is only a season & a half into been a permanent forward, I want to see the same form again over the course of this year before you'd be calling him top 5 in the comp.
  23. Pretty sure there will be a full replay available on the website later today
  24. Absolutely... Gave them a 7 goal head start in the first quarter too. From memory they hadn't lost at the Gabba for over a year. From memory we win by 21 points, 11 goal turn around was unbelievable. I remember the lady sitting next to me 20 mins into the first quarter saying "you all didn't come here just for this"..... Bloody oath we did
