  1. Thank you WB. My thoughts exactly... We out played them for majority of the game & like they said on the broadcast if you look at the stats you'd have thought Melbourne had of won by a few goals. Goodwin was pretty much in the same boat, happy with how we played but efficiency inside 50 is what cost us. My thoughts & expectations of this side haven't changed after last night's performance. As I said we outplayed a fellow top 4 & premiership contender ln their turf on the big stage, we did everything but take the 4 points. I'm annoyed we lost but I know this side is around the mark. People saying we failed on a Friday night etc. need to seriously take the positives out of it & look at the bigger picture, we win the next 3 & we are 11-5. Lose one of them & then we can all start saying we've [censored] the bed.

We'll know by 7:51pm by which Melbourne has shown up

Queens birthday feels so long ago. Everyone was as bad as each other minus a couple... I think Garlett needs to come back in, we’ve missed a bit of presence on the ground inside 50. He makes things happen from literally nothing & that’s what we need travelling interstate on the big stage. Spargo makes way for mine. I would also bring in Tyson & actually play him in the middle where he’s most damaging, we’ve been beaten in the clearances 2 weeks in arow. IN: Garlett, Tyson OUT: Spargo, Harmes

I do like Kent as a player... His career is summed up with his 2018 season so far. Plays 2 good games then injured... Disappointing he can’t get a free run at it as I think he has the attributes & talent to be best 18. Will have to see how the back half of the year pans out before I’d be shipping him out the door
  5. FFS... It’s going to be a long 9 days until the Port game. People on this joint need to chill the f&$k out. We weren’t going to go undefeated for the rest of the year... One loss in 7 weeks and everyone loses their mind.
  6. You've got to be kidding ? He's field kicking is elite. He is one of the best field kicks in the team... I honestly can't remember him missing a target. I wish I could find stats on it but I'm sorry he is an elite field kick
  7. Leg speed in football is a myth.. Yeah each side has a couple of quick runners but it's all about how you move the footy. We have looked slick & quick the last 6 weeks because our ball movement was top notch... Win it in close & spread by hand & foot not actual leg speed
  8. Meh, honestly not concerned with the performance. We'd been up for 6 weeks and I had an inkling this performance on the cards. Gotta take your hat's off to the pies they were simply the better side on the day. I have no doubt we will be better placed come round 23. Bucks out coached Goodwin today, was like we had planned to just focus on our game & keep on doing what we have been(which is fair enough) and Bucks planned how to stop & beat us and that's exactly what they did. Beat us at our own game... We forget Goodwins in game 34 of his coaching career, when your the inform side of the comp, sides are going to come at you & try to take you strengths away from you and put more time into you. We'll be right, can't win them all. A week off to regroup & head to Adelaide on a Friday night, big stage again. Already reckon we get the job done.
  9. I’m interested to see how Goodwin & the coaching staff aswell as the players adapt to what sides are going to throw at us. Been such a high scoring/free flowing style we have been playing with, sides are going to come up with different ways of combating that & bring different tactics. We all know the coaching staff has been criticised for no in game plan B or C so now with us on notice sides will be trying things & we’ll need to be switched onto it.
  10. Couple of things on Brendan. He must take a huge amount of credit for our contested brand of footy & developing the like of Oliver, Gus, Viney, pretty much the whole list in the aggressive, hard footy we play. He did it with the dogs and built them for that 2016 flag, Beveridge just added the icing & he’s had a huge impact here. Secondly, interesting since he has gone to the bench it has conincided with our current form... Don’t know what to read into it but it’s interesting

What an absolute warrior. He'll go down as one of the greats of this footy club... No'one would have blamed him had he walked out before Roosy came on board. I'm so wrapt for him that he has started to be apart of some success that he so rightly deserves, I've watched him closely the last few weeks & the enjoyment he's having it nearly brings a tear to the eye. I absolutely love the bloke.
  12. Gerard Wheatley this morning on SEN said we remind him of Geelong of 2007 (we all know how that story played out). I actually looked at the 2007 season after the St.Kilda win wondering if we could somehow mirror something similar. Geelong were 2-3 & all sorts of questions were been asked after a home loss to North. Similar to us. The cats then went on to storm the competition and win 15 on the trot. I’m not saying we will do the same but the style we are playing atm flies in the face of what everyone else is doing... As Gerard said Geelong was doing the same in 2007

  14. Absolutely unbelievable... I’ve never seen a Melbourne side like this, I was 10 years old in the early 2000’s & 15 when we last made the finals so my understanding & memory of those times isn’t great so to see a Melbourne side do what we have over the last 5 weeks is just breathtaking... To be through what we have all been through the past 10 years to finally be at the end of the tunnel not just seeing light is simply awesome. We are a serious contender this year, we sit 3rd & the 2 sides above us don’t scare me & everything below holds no fears... Let’s enjoy this, this year may be one hell of a ride.

Think we will get the job done. Huge game to keep in touch with the top 4 & cement inside the 8. Biggest game this clubs played in for many years, free to air & many eyes watching. Time to show we are the real deal.

Your right haha... It was Jetta I was thinking of back when he wasn’t any good in 2010 & 2012 he got picked for the Darwin games randomly
  17. JV7 replied to Mickey's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Jamie Bennell would consistently get a game in Darwin back in the day, often picked from nowhere to play so I wouldn’t be surprised if Spargo is rested & Garlett does come in, not entirely because of indigenous round but think it may play a part in Garletts secletion

Absolutely does my head in every year when people compare Alice Springs with Darwin saying it will be humid, hot, slippery. They are completely different conditions... Alice springs will be 27 & sunny with a low of 11 and humidity at 23%. The conditions on the weekend will be almost perfect for footy, a little on the warm side of 27 but that’s it.

Settle... It wasn’t you who was behind the early crow and sent out “How to buy finals tickets” last year Mcqueen ? Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. If we’re sitting 11-4 at round 15 with a few wins against quality maybe then

I contemplated it but he's form from 2014-2016 was good & he's gone to another level the last 2 years. He's previous 5 years were rubbish hence why he was delisted. He is one of my favorite players but he's another year or 2 off all time if he continues he's current form
  22. JV7 replied to WERRIDEE's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
My earliest I can recall is probably 1998 when I was 7 aswell as watching highlights here & there from years before. So mine is around 98 to current. Pretty sure there is a best 22 thread floating around already, having said that... Personally I wouldn’t have Joel Smith in my best 25-26 players let alone starting 18. Vince is still best 22, Harmes/ANB/Tyson in front of Vandenberg

That's only one aspect.. He's not winning the footy enough. He's averaged 12 disposas over his 5 games this year, nowhere near enough for w rebounding defender & when 2 or 3 of those 12 are turnovers/ineffective he's a non factor in the side
